For those in the not know:
This Dragonlord is the Former Elden Lord before Godfrey, who ruled during the Age of Dragons before the Age of the Erdtree.
It served a different outer god before it either was deffeated and fled or just fled from the Greater Will and it's armies led by Marika's and Godfrey, deffeated it, and seems to have been the adchivement what granted Godfrey his tittle.
It seems to have originally three heads, but either Godfrey or Marika cut out.
The Dragonlord's Remembarence says it's waiting here for it outer god to return, and his wounds to heal. We dont even fight it in his prime, but in his weakened state.
The reason Dragons were spared was because Marika's and Godrey's firstborn, Godwin, was soo impressed by the Dragond valor what asked for them to be spared. Thus they were accepted as Marika's vassals

Meh, in this series we pretty much never fight any opponent at their peak. The exceptions that come to my mind are probably Sword Saint Isshin and Owl (Father)

It looks like it's rotting like a tree. The scars, the patches of mold, and a hollowed gaping wound where I believe a third head was. Awesome design that tells a story without speaking a word.

I think it was 4 heads originally. It just speaks to how strong it is that even as a shadow of its former glory the Dragonlord poses a huge threat.
I empathized for this iconic and ancient fantastical creature. Tragic that it had to be killed by man.
It's supposed to be a parellel to the fingers you meet
based on the number of head stumps and necks it seems to have I'd guess that it had at least 5 heads originally
That’s one heck of a magnificent battle field for this boss with all the pillars and lighting bolts.

That's not even the best part: The entire floor is a MASS GRAVE of the beastmen.
Dang. We're left with our imagination of what this boss could've looked like in it's prime. Such a great design.
The scene’s grandeur, with the dragonlord suspended above the arena like an icon, bones littered round-how it travels within a cloud bespeckled by red lightning-everything about this is so fantastic. Genuinely this is my favorite game in the franchise. Never thought anything would surpass Bloodborne for me; but this is it.
This is a close second for me, Bloodborne’s combat is unmatched
@@bankroll4416 To add to this is the intricacy of the lore. Placidusax comes from latin 'Placidus'- 'Calm'. As in, he's a wise old dragon just minding his own business, trying to recover from his wounds and you turn up to kill him like an arse. That's why the malencholic music plays.

@John Hassle Facts. Combat and trick weapons alone is a mechanic that blows the rest of their games out of the water for me. Then the fact that you can heal while you fight if you're aggressive enough?? Assuming the white line thing on your health bar doesnt lock under your hp you're basically a monster once you master combat. Elden giving me the same dodge roll attack window run vibes. Still a wonderful game though. On Radahn rn losing my mind.
Man the design choices in this game...so gorgeous, like a classical painting.
Then they smear all over it with Godskin Duo and all the other lazy "fight two enemies you have already fought at once" bosses.
Malenia's second phase is the one that looks like it belongs in a museum the most imo,especially in the cutscene
It's a soul game, they are always pretty as fuck at what they make

It is possible that Placidusax can be considered the very first elden Lord before Hoarah Loux. However, people rather called it A Dragonlord or an Elden-Dragon*.
(*Not to be confused to Elden Beast, which is Dragonlike Thing)
If I were to take a guess the dragonlord was here long before the Erdtree and by extension Godfrey.
He was there b4 the eldtree, dragons created the logic of the world before the greater will got involved.

notice how the dragon is physically very weak that it can't even fly or move properly, however it compensates with crazy magical prowess. Meanwhile most dragons are physically strong yet have weak elemental attacks. Genius concept. Wish we can have a fight with the dragonlord at its prime
Wdym "have weak elemental attacks", all the dragons have extremely strong fire breath, glintstone breath, or other elemental attacks. Most of them can oneshot you even with relatively high vigor. You're tripping bro
Could be dlc, there's a lot of nutty things they could do with going in to memories like in DS2. I wish they'd revisit that idea.

This boss and its arena are a work of art. So cinematic. Definitely one of the best bosses From ever made.
This boss fight definitely took the cake for me. When I first saw all that lightning upon approach, I was in awe. Then the fight itself with his humongous lightning bolts, cloud shapeshifting and phase attacks. Wow!
One of the greatest boss fight ever made IMO.

the fact that this ant even required to beat the game says a lot about Fromsoftware's games. there's always 101% effort put into even the optional stuff.

me too. he went AFK for like 10 seconds and i Comet Azur'd his ass to a crisp. normally wouldn't do that but it was just the most perfect opportunity to drop Terra
On 2 separate occasions, after dying a couple times to Placidusax, I’ve encountered a glitch where the lord of dragons barely did anything. This has been AFTER fights where he obliterated my Mimic Tear & started getting aggressive on me. I suppose it has something to do with keeping my summon alive, perhaps, but regardless, I’ve had fights where the dragon barely did anything at all & just let me & my summon wail on him whenever we liked. This boss, even at Rune Level 125 on my current save file, hits way too hard & is way too aggressive unless you use talismans to negate the following: Physical, Fire and Lightning attacks. It’s just so frustrating at times, but at least with the bug I encountered, Placidusax was at least generous with his wait time.

Out of all the bosses in the series, this guy I'd probably be most afraid of if it ever existed..
I'd be interested to know the lore of this one. It appears to have the rotting stumps of at least three other necks on it. What happened to those other heads? How did it get so rotten?
I don't know if the two smaller stomps under its belly were heads. They look thinner. THe other stump next to the heads definitely looks like a third head was there.
The stumps where likely heads at one point that where either chopped off or ripped off by godfrey the first elden lord his items describe him besting the lord of faram azula IIRC
@@willbobaggig8191 where do read that from tho, the only thing I know that Godfrey bested the storm lord during the war of the giant, the storm lord is probably not him but a giant.
The Old Lord talisman depicts Placidusax; it had four heads.

Great battle managed to kill him get all the rewards then mysteriously died rigth after so, if that happens you will lose your runes and not be able to go back and get them so make sure your health isn't a sliver or you won't be able to go back there and get any runes lost.
Feels like Midir's fight on steroids. Amazing fight.

Both times I’ve fought this boss he wouldn’t stop flying through the air and spammed that teleport move which made for a frustrating experience. This boss looks cool, but the fight itself could use some improvement

For this boss I used the dark blade of Maliketh, the thing of this blade is that with it special atack I was able to hit more critical points of the dragon and with the Destined dead it was doing good demage
Pro tip if you never plan on blocking in a fight two hand your weapon like your mimic tear did

Indeed. The trailer dragon is a normal open world mini boss encounter. There is a real boss version of him named lichdragon fortisax though. It’s really fucking cool as well

Why does everyone keep torturing themselves by going that way? If you come from the Grace near Maliketh, you can get to Placidusax extremely easily.
I dont know what happened but I bugged out this boss on its second form he suddenly stop moving after diving lol
Same for me in a couple save files. I’ve had moments where Placidusax barely even moved at all & I just downed him easily.

Crumbling Farum Azula, near the trees before the elevator that takes you to Maliketh there are some platforms you can jump on.
Reach the last one of them and lay down, you will be teleported to Placidusax's arena after a cutscene.
you got more hp than the Dragon, lol
How do you access this fight?
once you get to crumbling Faram Azula, before going up the stairs to the Malekith fight you can instead go down the stairs to eventually reach some floating graves around a tornado, if you lie down in one of the graves time will go weird and you'll go to "the heart of the storm beyond time". that's the arena where you fight this thing.

I think that’s where From got their inspiration for this boss fight; Midir probably got HIS inspiration from the Godzilla monster.
