Introduction to Mutation RPG: A Rules-Lite Wild West Post Apocalyptic TTRPG

Damn, I LOVE streamlined things...you know the feeling when you find a small box...a very nice small box...it can't hold a lot of things, but you are like "I'm gonna put something small and special inside, and it will be my special little box"? I guess that is where the whole wedding ring box thing comes from...
That is how I feel about rules-lite, creative games...and that is why I call them Gems. Don't get me wrong I love me a good rules-heavy tactical game...but it can be hard to get that wheel rollin`
Anyways, Mutation! A game that is cursed by its name living in the shadow of Mutants: Year Zero
I played it and really liked it...enough to get me to do a whole series on it! ...you know the drill, no lore, and that juicy stuff...you just have to get the book.
This series should teach you all you need to know to play as a player...and later videos will go through some thoughts, tips & tricks for the DM
It is by no means a perfect game...but it is Fun..and at the end of the day, all of us are here to have FUN!
I should probably mention that it is not an easy game to run for the DM, a lot of improv is needed for sure. Still, I think you got it :)
I did make mistakes in a couple of places...but as we go over it in the comments I will pin those correct answers.
RUclipsr lessons learned this week:
- Don't try to release 5 videos in a week or RUclips will become another full-time job.
- Cover the windows for consistent lightning (again...)
- Do NOT attach the mic to the table you plan on slamming :)

JD Stirling has been a friend to me since day one when I first joined the Runehammer Online forum, and as an author he continues to be an inspiration to me.
What I love about Joe’s writing is that he is a brilliantly concise and evocative wordsmith. The man clearly loves words, and he chooses each one with seemingly effortless precision, whether he’s writing rules or prose.
On a good day, I hope to write the way Robin Williams monologues in the park in Good Will Hunting. Joe writes the way Clint Eastwood acts in his entrance in For a Few Dollars More. He is one very talented writer and game designer.
This game is great. Every word in the book speaks to me, telling me what I want to know and increasing my interest in the world Joe has created. I just received my physical copy, and look forward to putting Mutation through its paces at the gaming table this summer.
