He's coming to Penn State. He was training exclusively for U20 final with Mesenbrink, Bo, & a couple other PSU wrestlers. We are patiently waiting for the official announcement that he'll be at State College

Well I would not put $$$ on it. I think Okie State has locked in Forrest and that is going to influence his decision.

I've always said that about wrestling, the only way to get better is to train and compete against your teammates and competitor's.

PSU for Blaze, Bassett, and Forrest.

    • @xzjayz7925

      Luke Lilledahl: 125
      Marcus Blaze: 133
      Bo Basset: 141
Where exactly would Jax go?? If it comes down to it, I don’t see him beating out a Marcus Blaze with college experience. Lilledahl leads their series by a good amount now as well so I don’t see him starting 125 either.
So either he goes 141 (has the frame for it) and Bo bumps to 149. Or he switches it up and doesn’t just go where everyone else goes. And he goes to OSU and boom 125/133.

Blaze goes to Ohio or Purdue.
      Bassett goes PSU.
      Forrest goes OSU.

Does it matter what shoe contract the school has if he’s on Rudis

    • @JustinBasch
      @JustinBasch  5 месяцев назад +1

Not really, no. Some schools, like Iowa/Penn State/others who have a dedicated contract, mean he'd have to wear that while competing. So, if he went to Iowa/Penn State he'd likely have to wear Nike while competing in college. Could wear Rudis shoes for Freestyle circuit. With NIL though, will be interesting to see if that rule changes.

Great interview with a very mature young man. Wise words were said by Basch about a wrestler's true character being shown in handling a loss. It lead me to the following observations.
In wrestling and really all combat sports, character is shown in how you handle defeat. The sport's end-of-match ritual, dating back to Ancient Greek and Roman times, is an ethical, performative act:
Return to the center of the mat without delay.
    Shake your opponents hand.
Allow the referee to grab your wrist and hold your arm down while raising your opponent's arm. Allow the referee to spin you around 180 degrees and do it again.
    Exit the mat.
It is also customary to shake hands with your opponent’s coaches, and in the international styles you also shake hands with the off mat judges.
Each step of the ritual has moral significance: Returning to center stage. Humbly acknowledging and accepting the reality of your defeat (to your opponent, to others of importance and to all present). Let there be no doubt or delay. For all to see. Finality. Accord.
This all seems easy enough. But think of the moral tests involved. Can you immediately admit to the reality of the situation? Not always easy to do if you are bruised and battered. All the more difficult if you feel publicly humiliated in real time. Think of all the blood, sweat and tears, the sacrifices, the training, the starving. All for this for defeat?
Emotional control is required. You must immediately switch from beast mode to civil. Humility is necessary component to accepting loss. Submission to the judgement of the authorized neutral, the referee, must occur. Sometimes outcomes are controversial. Can you handle it?
Performing the ritual bestows honor in defeat. Refusal to do so dishonors self and the sport of wrestling.
This is the bedrock ethic of the wrestling community. It is the antithesis of Stop the Steal, January 6 and Donald J. Trump.

I would like PSU, but I feel like he goes to Iowa because of his star power. At PSU he won't receive the star power that he would receive in Iowa. Look at Spencer, he had sooo much more star power than Brook and Starocci. PSU star's don't get the same attention that Iowa star's get. Iowa is Iowa, and they promote their star's where Cael doesn't. He would be just another tough wrestler, at Iowa he would be a huge star. Boooo Baasssseeeeetttttt.

@@JustinBasch C'mon you're better than that. You're a big boy, you can handle some feedback.
      I'm a big fan, I know you're above this.
If you don't like a comment or think it's troll bait, don't reply.
If it seems in good faith, maybe there's something to it. Takes humility (which was a conversation topic in this EXACT video!)
