When doing monotonous work on the table saw. Take a break every 5 or 10 cuts. Brush the saw dust away, step back from the machine and stretch. Take a drink. Anything to take you away from the machine, let the motor in the machine rest and for you to regain focus.
A lot of home table saws are not designed for continuos use. Give them a break and they'll last longer.

Chris is great and my engineer son and I binge watched the clock building videos and looked forward to the Antikythera Mechanism but anyone know what happened at least 8 months ago it sort of just stalled. Adam, I have watched your content for many years, since the premier of Mythbusters, and you have always been an inspiration to me and the way I make things; the way your cough sounds after using your disk sander worries me immensely.
Please, for the sake of being able to continue to do the work you love, invest in your personal safety by getting a better dust collection system or a positive pressure open face dust mask like Alec Steele uses or something.
People die from dust inhalation related injuries all the time, and I do not want you to be counted among them.
I realize many may see it as a tedium to get prepped to grind or sand something, but as a creator with millions of subscribers and hundreds of thousands of views per video, it is irresponsible to use anything less than standard safety equipment while you work, for your sake and the sake of your viewers who may try to imitate you without knowing any better.
Anyone who says you should do what you want regardless of how dangerous we know dust is does not care about your safety and will have no right to complain if you develop pneumonia or something awful after breathing in too much dust one day.

About 400,000 visits to ER, by way of power tools. I have no number for electrocution, but it's a big one. Here are some statistics on the number of emergency room (ER) visits per year caused by individual types of tools:
Power nailers or nail guns: 37,000 emergency room visits/year
John Deere-type Riding Lawn Mowers: 37,000 hospital visits a year
      Chain Saws: 36,000 ER visits/year
Stationary Table Saws: 29,000 ER visits/year
Snowblowers: 5,7000 ER Visits per year; 19 deaths recorded since 1992
Circular or Rotary Saws: 10,600 ER cases/year
      Power Drills: 5,800
Backhoes: Average of 38 construction fatalities a year
      Air Compression Devices: 2,400
Wood Chippers: Average of 3 deaths a year.
The big one across all categories is human error. Work when alert and well rested. Pay attention. Don't take shortcuts, or rush. Keep outside people and distractions out of the way. Continually inspect equipment. Make needed repairs WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED! Not after you finish your job. Keep areas clean and dry, no slip/trip hazards. God bless.

You are just fantastic Adam! Such an inspiring person. It always lights up my day to see you enthusiastically building something, talking about your tools or just in some way doing your thing.
You're using all this experience in just winging it and improvising. Building something from scratch. Always only 80% sure of what you're doing but also always finishing or improving what you started. I guess you're one of the very few people of which I can honestly say I look up to.
In someway or another I really want to be like you when "all grown up". Having this shop with all these amazing tools I actually (more or less) know how to use. Full of enthusiasm to make, learn, craft, build and optimize. Never let my perfectionism stop me. Actually for once finishing the projects I started and also being happy with what I made. Having this passion.
One of my biggest wishes is to meet you in person one day and maybe even having a beer/cup of tea and just talk for hours.. Highly unlikely but not impossible. Maybe one day?

That being said, this comment might be premature - One thing I know about stiching ponies is that users tend to post one similar complaint: Their thread(s) tend to get snagged on (anything) that protrudes from the primary clamping mechanism. I have seen this complaint (even from) a single low-profe toggle, on either side. Your design is (very) impressive, from an ingenuity standpoint, but you may get annoyed by (it's) practicality in the long run. Not saying that I could do better, I mean, that thing's bad @ss! Just throwing it out there.... Anyways, cheers once more....!

This is the type of content I've wanted from Adam for years! No fancy camera shots and we don't have to put up with the camera focusing on a item close up when we want to see Adams reaction or vice versa.

I love the Clickspring channel. My favorite part about his channel is his Antikathra mechanism machine videos. I love the fact that he is showing us how it was possible that man was able to do precision (even by today's standards) machining over 1000 years ago. His videos are amazing. Its like uncovering some ancient skill that was lost in time. He is extremely talented.

I can attest to Adams warning about, somehow especially tablesaw, repetitive work can lull you!
You were super careful when you were setting up the sequence. You recognize the danger and you pay close attention.
    But then …
It becomes “routine” so quickly. You’re attention wanders. (Not that any of us makers are at all ADHD or on some spectrum or anything!)
There were many other contributing factors in my case. But 8 very long and delicate surgeries over the course of a year. Pretty much exhausted during the 6 or 8 weeks between them as I tried to recover enough for the next one.
Just that one moment of innattention.

Adam, love this clamp. I'm considering making one, but would rather have multiple jaw options. At least need part of it with V notch for round objects. Ideal would be a jaw with 3 V grooves to hold a piece at 0, 45 and 90 degrees Perhaps a neat star pattern?
Thanks for mentioning Clickspring. I restore antique clocks as a hobby.. well collect a few too. The one thing that comes to me as a maker watching you is that consistency gives opportunity for precision, and there are a few tricks along the way ;)

let me start off by saying I miss Mythbusters so much...me and my adult daughter watch the re-runs every week on our local cable TV...am also becoming a big fan of your "One Day Builds" videos. Love the way you think out loud when problem-solving and your silliness is a joy.
On this video I was intrigued by the Swiss Army knife hanging up in the background when you were working at the table saw. Is this one of your creations or did you pick it up in your travels...would love to see a short video on how it came to your shop.

A Nice Functional Piece of Kit, One upgrade did occur to me when watching, and that was replaceable jaws. It might not be required with the clamping pressure available and the leather cover, but the first thing that occurred to me was "I bet I'd deform the jaws in that really quick from over-tightening."

Adam, do yourself a big favor and invest in a central dust collection system. Your lungs will be much healthier. You were coughing with the dust in your shop. That’s how cancer starts by imbedding itself in your lungs. In my shop, I have two central dust collectors. One is directed at each saw, sander and lathe. The other is mounted near the ceiling that cleans the air in my shop. Let’s not forget using a dust mask. It will be the best investment you ever made. I really enjoyed your third hand vice or stitching pony. Best regards, Richard

One of my late grandfathers did automobile upholstery in the early 20th century. He had a full-size Stitching Horse that the user sat on. I don't know what happened t it when he passed away. I wish I had it. It was a wonderful piece of mechanical woodworking, used by leather-workers and upholsterers.

Adam, I do enjoy your videos. I honestly hope this stitching pony works for you. I am a leather artisan. This would never work for me. For belts or small wallets, it would do. This wouldn't work for anything larger like a bag. Look at an actual stitching horse or clam. There is a reason they're made that way. Your thread is going to get snapped in all that gadgetry. Nice job, though.

Such as the full cure time being days, and wouldn't this just crack from constant (de)compression , with the only real upside being able to hide the crimes with rubbing alcohol?

I love your layout man, but, I must say, you need to clean up the corner by your band saw.
It's just a pile of misc-stuff pending being stored somewhere. I see you have a Kam Snaps press up there, that when it falls, its pot metal, it will shatter.
Maybe your next one day build should be a snap setting station? That particular machine has the ability to be mounted, and foot operated.

Mr. Savage I love you very much. The reason a stitching pony is so *tall* is so that you can have a long piece of material in the jaw. Your clamping adjustment is so close to the jaw that you've made a vice that's only marginally deeper than the vice it's stuck in. You need to make the clamp adjustment much, much lower, toward the base of the clamp.

To all the armchair quarterbacks losing their collective minds about his coughing know the difference between cutting and sanding wood 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (or some kind of constant exposure) as a lot of woodworkers do and cutting a small amount of wood once or twice every couple of weeks or so. I agree everyone should take care of their health but come on. Do you put on sunblock every time you leave the house? No. But you should when you work in the sun or plan on spending the day at the beach. Do you set up proper ventilation every time you open a can of paint? No. But you should if you were to be exposed to the fumes for a prolonged period. To each their own but let the man do his thing.

  • @kirbyspencer538

No Adam. Don't beat the living hell out of it on your workbench. Bring it over here and do it on your table saw top. That way you won't have to move when you go to glue and paint. All that said, this was your best build yet. Version 2.0, when you get to it, shouldn't wiggle like Jello with light filing action.

I got hooked on Clickspring about two or three years ago, but now he’s seemingly gone completely Patreon and hasn’t posted a RUclips video in 8 months. If he just monetized his RUclips channel and released his older videos later than his output for Patreons, I’d be more supportive of him. I’m not knocking what he does, but I think he’d have a greater audience if he wasn’t so exclusive.
