“The march goes on…” This is interesting music history. Nice playing too! It inspired me to listen to some of the covers. I went to “Classic Mountain Songs from Smithsonian Folkways”, 24 songs there, including “Coal Creek March” by Pete Steele. Most of these songs I had not heard. Thanks for the discovery opportunity!
@@rydenbrook I checked that out, and glad for it, some excellent songs there! Including the Pete Steele version ☺️👍Since you mentioned it here, I can direct people to the batch of songs, too, very enjoyable! I've heard stories of the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Folkways changing people's lives, people who heard those recordings and they changed their trajectory. What collection, thanks for bringing it up.
@JWF99... Evening there Jim got your Clogging shoes on? time to kick up some dust out in the barn as Micah plays his banjo. any how hope all is going well along the Ohio river my friend. 😊🧡✌
@drewpall2598 Howdy howdy Drew!🖑 Thanks man! All is fine over here in southern Ohio this evening, already lil dark & rainy outside, just finished wiping down the kitchen and putting on a pot of coffee!😁☕ Sure hope your evening goes well and good too my friend! Take care now ☺😉☮✌
@@drewpall2598 Sounds like sometimes you and I have very similar weather, it's in the 40s over here now too! Strange how far away we really are, I've never even been west of the Miss. Cali. seems like a whole other world to me, as Ohio probably does to you? 😂 I'm curious tho Drew (if you don't mind me asking) have you ever visited the eastern states, or anywhere over here in Appalachia?
Dexterity in display..love it can't say I can claim to be familiar with the original either. I'm with Ms. Stephanie it was a great write up as well. It's strange how the jobs that ought to be revered, offer little dignity to those doing them, meanwhile those with clean nails decide where to send those with strong backs and respectable morals. Deep thinking for the evening 💖🌞✨
@drewpall2598 I appreciate the compliment from a conessouir of words. You have an impressive knowledge of music as well as a gift for posting the appropriate quote. Thank you Mr. Drew💖🌞✨
Great tune, and nice playing, Micah! I liked your write-up as well! It is quite amazing to look back at that time in America, at all the people who contributed to our advancement and comfort, often at their own sacrifice and peril. I couldn't help thinking about some of the ghost towns I've visited, too, where they had mines (though not coal). I can see how you could play that for hours! It’s just one of those kinds of tunes! Thanks so much! 😊💟
@StephanieJeanne... Your comment got me thinking if David Hoffman gave Micah permission to play this number or come up with one of his own banjo pieces to his Clogg dance film clip. 😊👞🎶🪕
Wow, that's really got to be a sight to behold, a ghosted mining town 😮 Thanks for such a thoughtful response, Stephanie, I can tell you know what I mean 💜
I love the write up on this one Micah. You come across as a natural on this piece. I see why you could play this one for hours on end. I have listened to this a few already. 😊👍🎶🪕
Micah, I have a question do you put a small towel in the back of your banjo to muffle the sound when you play. I ask because I came across this explanation years ago and wonder if it is customary when playing the banjo or is it a personal thing. Thanks Micah "Cripple Creek" with Tracy Newman on the 5-string banjo ruclips.net/video/Ew6DS2bXYmk/видео.html
@@drewpall2598 It has that never-ending quality, which I like, too. I never heard of the towel in the back thing. That's interesting. I guess Cripple Creek has been in a couple of songs, at least. 😉 We'll see what Micah says. ☺️🪕
@@drewpall2598 It probably makes the snare effect sound a bit more tight? Less reverb I suppose? I'm just guessing though, I've always thought of the banjo as a snare drum with steel strings? 😂🎸Now you got me curious too, great question Drew! 😉✌

@MicahScottPnD That is too kind as you're wonderfully gifted with the words yourself, the most important forms, written and sung. 💖🌞✨
