      Ironically, that wasn't the developers intent, that was an issue with the War Tendency Scale. They put him at a one, and when he goes to Democracy, he gets -2. This means that -1, an imaginary number in programming was his value. This flowed back to the top to solve the error. This meant Ghandi had a 255.... out of ten. So that liberty was actually just game developers not thinking about the consequences of what might happen, then everyone loving it so it was kept in as a joke.

    • @Orphim
      @Orphim 7 лет назад +8

      That's not quite true. Computers can use negative numbers. The issue lays with the type of integer they stored the number in called a pos int or, more accurately in c, an unsigned integer. That acts exactly as you said, it instead cannot go negative and just underflowed back to the maximum value.

      Each leader had some personality values set to various positive integer values between 1 and 10; one of them was aggression. Naturally, Gandhi's was set to 1. The endgame democratic government reduced aggression by 1, but Gandhi's was already at the lowest possible value (given how they stored the data), 1-1 became the _largest_ possible value...*255*.

    Gotta love Leonardo Da Vinci decoding ancient encrypted texts that no one else was able to read in literally 5 seconds, by saying, "I see, this goes here, and we move this up... It's done!". You'd think that by the thirtieth Codex Page, Ezio would have learned how to decode it too. Not to mention that he can easily read it when it's on the wall at Mario's office, even though Leonardo simply reads the pages and mumbles, making no change at all. But hey, I guess it takes a genius to do it, not a mass murderer... What do you mean Ezio didn't kill civilians? I bought the game, I have the right to kill whoever the hell I want to.

Unless your English textbooks are VERY different from our American textbooks.

  • @drearyghost13

    I haven't read the Divine Comedy myself but I'm pretty sure that Dante Alighieri in the epic wasn't entirely accurate to Dante Alighieri in real life, so I'm not sure Dante's Inferno really counts. The epic itself, not just the game, was just about Dante's vision of Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, but I highly doubt he actually traveled there and was guided by the spirit of Roman poet Virgil to rescue his love from the Devil while meeting King Midas, Socrates, and many others along the way.

    • @hammerklav8152
      @hammerklav8152 7 лет назад

      He didn't go in real life of course, but in the book he does, he's there, it's not a vision.

    • @drearyghost13
      @drearyghost13 7 лет назад

      Nicolas Betzios I meant vision as in idea (I have a bad habit of using words fancier than they need to be and it kind obscures what I mean). I know he only does it in the book, and that's my point - the game is accurate considering Dante was based on the character that Alighieri made. Book Dante is no more accurate than game Dante, which makes the point invalid.

    • @someonerandom8552
      @someonerandom8552 7 лет назад +1

      drearyghost13 The game is not at all accurate to the depiction of either the book or even Dante himself. I mean geez, even Disney's Frozen is closer to it's source material.
      But you are aware that the book is literally *self insert* fiction, right?
      Meaning book Dante was just an exaggerated version of real Dante. The video game paints him as this rugged flawed hero and a Templar fighting in (one of the) Crusades, who does awful things because he thinks the Church forgives all his sins. I sincerely doubt Dante fought in the Crusades. I don't even think he was involved in the war going on around his neighborhood at the time. Maybe he was, I don't know.
      But in the book he wanders around hero worshiping his idol Virgil and mocking all his enemies. Including Popes he dislikes. But he's no Templar, he's not even a hero. He just sort of relies on Virgil to hold his hand and he faints a lot.
      So the point stands, whilst the book's events are fictional, it does fairly accurately portray Dante as he was in real life. A kind of nerdy guy with a love of literature, who also seemed to idolize the classical poets. The video game, on the other hand, does not.

    • @drearyghost13
      @drearyghost13 7 лет назад

      Someone random I am very aware that it's self insert fiction. Oxbox are listing Dante's Inferno as a game in which the characters are historically inaccurate, my point is literally just that that's wrong because The Divine Comedy is self insert fiction (and they never mentioned the other characters based on real life people). We are more or less agreeing on the same point - I'd argue Dante's Inferno is an inaccurate representation of The Divine Comedy, not Dante Alighieri himself, so it's not HISTORICALLY inaccurate.
