Cool video ! My tip for the cakes staying together. Let the potatoes cool to room temperature before you add the fish. Hot=loose. Parboiled and then shredded with a grater will also make the potatoes keep shape better. Your fish cakes looked really good even if they were falling apart a little . You and Sara have a good evening!

Those fish cakes looked awesome! Maybe you can add some bread crumbs next time. That will hold things together and not fall apart.

If you let everything cool especially the potatoes then you can add a beaten egg to it and that our sour cream or mayo will hold your fish cakes together before you do the egg dip and coating. Make you Patty and then dip in flour and then egg and then your bread crumbs or crushed pork rinds. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦🍁

Try - cube fish 1” marinate 15 to 30 min in Mt Dew or overnight. Dry cubes in towel. Mix up complete pancake flour using Mr Dew. (not water or milk). Dip fish in batter and deep fry. Works on any type of fish, especially ones that have a heavy fish flavor. ie; drum, stripers, gar etc. We use it quite often with bass or catfish.
Love the content and the time you put in to making it entertaining but a prayer goes a long way to thank our father for what we have to enjoy in this life

You just need a binder like saltines, bread crumbs it will hold together better..look up Maryland lump crab cakes to get ideas..

So once I went to fry up some tilapia. Well i didn't have bread crumbs. I had a pack of sesame sticks. Well food processor later I had some good crumbs and that was best fried fish I ever had

Hey next time you make fishcakes add egg to mixture as a binder it's better than egg wash I do it all the time your recipe sounds delicious

I believe if I were to make the cakes while still hot some flour or corn starch would hav helped the cakes bind .
Great video CMR! Lots of catching going on today. Great job! The cook looked awesome on the fish cake. The flavour should have been quite garlicky, but I’m ok with that. That had to be at least 6 cloves. Lol. A little binder in the mixture would have helped the butter fracture, but even better would be less hot potatoes.

Where I live a toadfish is a type of puffer fish and a "mothe-in-law" fish is a morwong, which is a type of lutjanid like the snappers you get there.

@@CameramanRon I'm looking for a deep v for lake Erie I can also use in the gulf. I really don't want to be as limited as you are with that Mako. It's a great bay boat, don't mistake me. But I want more versatility. Btw, I think you dodged a bullet on sticking with the old crew. Your independence makes you more relatable, relaxed and entertaining.
