  • This video shows how to do a deep excavation to enable the construction of a foundation for a water retaining structure. It shows the excavation sequence step by step using an animation. It is Part One of a three-part series of videos showing the complete construction of a reinforced concrete retaining structure.
The video covers sheet piles, shoring and dewatering. It also gives a design overview of the deep excavation.
This video is also relevant for retaining walls, basements, foundation walls, or any underground structure. Applicable for construction of building structures underwater, coffer dams, coastal engineering etc

The video is good but the sequence of execution is questionable. The existing drainage pipe remains in place until the end which means the sheet piling according and has pass through the pipe line. Prior to any excavation existing utilities are identified and marked, plus if all material is removed around the pipeline what's not cause the drainage pipe to fail and fall?

Good observation. However, this video only presents an overview of the whole sequence. Detailed site specific tweaks will of cos be necessary.

how is it even possible to put those metal bars deep down to the ground of that shape? 4:57 - that white large pipe is used to hold down the side trenches?

The profiled metal sheets are sheet piles. They are driven into the ground by a rig. The large white pipe is an existing drainage pipe that gets cut off and diverted so the structure to be constructed.

Can piling sheet be installed into chalky soil types? or next to an existing building?

Yes you can do sheetpiles in chalky soil types. If near accupied building do assessment first of noise and ground vibration to prevent structural damage to nearby structures. You might need to use bored piles if site is sensitive to noise and vibration.
