My senior hs history teacher would play music before class started, and one day, he had this playing. I remember being mesmerized by the music. I've since gone on to listen to alot of philip glass's discography, and throughly enjoy his music. So if you see this Mr. Tansil, thanks.
3:30 You can't help but appreciate the sneeze that has the timing down, talk about being professional.
I remember hearing the original recording of this piece on our late-night PBS station, sometimes after Doctor Who, in the early '80s. I've been looking for this for nearly 40 years.
Bro, for marching season we playing this 😭
We cooked
I am thankful for every day Philip Glass is alive and still composing! Such an enticing experienced man with a long list of To Do...
Frantic.
I don't think this music could have been written at any other time in History.
Its structure and form are as a result of momentous urbanisation and the multifarious patterns within it.
There's always these guys in the comments of an avant garde song
It speaks the language of futurism and is completely apropos in Koyaanisqatsi.
One of the most important works by Philip Glass
BRAVO!!!! BRAVO!!!!!! Very well done! Temp excellent. Ensemble movement first rate! WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! So nicely done!
God, I love PG's work!
I love Glass. So grateful
for his music. He joins the greats .
For me, his music is closer to mantra and ecstasy than it is to exhaustion from the frenzy that life is for some.
For me, Glass' music is closer to mantra, to ecstacy, than to exhaustion from the frenzy that modern life is for some.

Absolutely awesome!
This is fantastic. Excellent performance!
I wondered that too, then I noticed that the woodwinds often alternate phrases, and that seems to be part of the trick. ;-)

Who is this ensemble? Who is this group, man? What college? Conservatory? What?
Phillip Glass Ensemble, David Feldberg.
The mic can’t handle it. Too much distortion.
Yeah but the clipping still doesn't undermine the amazing performance.

This is NOT music! This is structural variations, AKA Trance. Music is a communication of non-verbal thought transmitted by melody. There is no melody here. However definitely make money with it if someone gets emotional from it! :))))
This 'not music' has made a hell of a lot more money in album sales than you ever will, buddy...
Victor Stadnichenko a Lot of people said they get emotional with his musics.
Static is still an idea. Scribbles are ideas transmitted on paper. Elementary school recorder ensembles, no matter how crappy, are still ideas. Albeit frightening.
I think you have too rigid a definition of music. I prefer John Cage's definition: everything we do is music.
Agreed.
