i am a british national, will i get an exit stamp when i go through international departures. i will also only be flying with hand luggage will i need to still check in at british airways desk
Generally, Immigration always stamp passports in South Africa. But I am not sure, if british nationals gets the stamp or not.
If you are traveling with just hand luggage, and it meets all the requirements for a hand luggage in terms of weight, dimensions and the items inside the bag, then you might not have to check it in. But if it is beyond the hand luggage requirements, then you might have to check it in.

They claim this is Johannesburg, but in reality O R Tambo is actually located in Kempton Park, South Africa!

Hello, you can ask the officials at the airport or security officers for directions.
Its actually O.R Tambo specifically not Tampon, named after the late struggle hero Oliver Reginald Tambo.

The arrivals section at the customs entry is the worst ever, it's dark, poorly signed, poorly lit, lacks welcome back by the many people working there and doing nothing!!
