Not sure who the best is, but Heero Yuy is my favorite. His arc was genuinely interesting, he was a perfect soldier, ruthless, and equally compassionate; plus he never strayed from his ideals.
Heero is my fav. too, but I guess it helped a lot seeing G-Wing as my first mecha anime. I would have placed him way above others except some freaks who are not human at this state lol, but for exemple he could beat so much easily a whiny immature mc such as Camille the "girl"... And yeah Heero, from name to behavior is just cool AF. We lack that type of hero nowadays. Amuro didn't become a master by UC0093, he became a monster. He shoots down aces like grunts, he fights superior MS to a draw, he beat the crap out of Char, and it only took him that long because he was trying to prevent a extinction event. By that point, he was also becoming a excellent leader and tactician.
You forget to mention the part that Amuro fought Char while also having a philosophical debate with him, exit out of his mobile suit to set detonators on a giant asteroid while dodging Char's bazooka strikes then getting back into his mobile suit, continuing his philosophical debate with Char again before literally beating Char's Sazabi into submission with the Nu Gundam's fist.
Amuro Ray is like the Michael Jordan of Gundam pilots. All the other great Gundam pilots are all modeled after him. It would only be right to say Amuro Ray is number 1.

Mika is a good pilot, but compared to the other pilots here, he would get curb stomped. Even the creators confirmed that Mika is just an average pilot and the only advantage he has was the system implemented in the Barbatos.

I feel Quatre deserved an honorable mention for the way he grows through the series, the trials he suffers yet manages to keep his heart. I always loved his arc.
As a sheer veteran, Amuro has over a decade of combat and piloting experience. Though, a lot of his time during the First Neon Zeon War was kinda offscreen after his Z Gundam appearance. (He even got his own custom Zeta Gundam variant too) Not to mention, Amuro designed his Nu Gundam too. (Not counting the the psycoframe Char stealth gave him) Natural talent or superpowers aside, few pilots can boast of a (confirmed)service record as lengthy as his... The One Year War(debut) The Gryps Conflict(re-enters the stage before going offscreen) First Neo Zeon War(offscreen) Second Neo Zeon War(All but stated final moment before dying whilst saving the planet and arguing with Char... over Lalah Sune... again) Also, Amuro has many issues... *especially where women are concerned.* ...Well, to be fair... Flit Asuno from Gundam Age served until he was a pissy old guy, but he still just isn't as badass as Amuro.
Jesus Yamato is up there cause his beam spam, but Lockon Stratos(Lyle Dylandy) now beats him out in that field with the GN-010 Gundam Zabanya. That machine makes Freedom/Strike Freedom look like childs play LMAO.

Chris is actually an amazing pilot, i really doubt many other pilots would be able to do what she did, belive it or not. the thing alot of people are missing is how hard the alex was to pilot, it was meant for new types, she was basicaly piloting a coordinator suit by comparison. Kou on the other hand is a talented pilot, but he wasnt that good, he was very minor in therms of skill, and Gato was far superior in every single encounter. hell, gato was able to get a draw using a slower, broken unit. remember, the gp01 was already upgraded with the full vernier, and was incredibly fast at that point, the gp02 however, had a malfunction because of the damaged shield, and literally couldnt use one arm. and yet, Gat still basically won that fight.

Mikazuki is one of the best pilots simply because of his fighting style/ spirit just think he had near death experiences and kept fighting not only that but think of how many enemies he took out when the lupus rex was trashed he simply deserved a top 5 spot no questions asked.

In ZZ he's basically the catalyst for Judau's awakening and I doubt Judau would be able to do the Newtype Bullshit he did during his final fight with Haman if it wasn't for Kamille's spirit. Still, the BEST pilot in UC, and probably in all of Gundam is Seabook Arno.
I loved setsuna and mikazuki the most but everyone has their own taste so I won't complain. In fact, I appreciate that setsuna is on the list, number 2 even.
Igneos Kai That kinda shows there is definitely something off in his brain. Just like there is in the brains of ones on the opposite side of the scale like Kira "Jesus" Yamato and Kio Asuno. I prefer balanced pilots like Amuro; pilots who have a phase about it, but manage to get over it and accept the fact that you can't be deep in a war and NOT kill anyone, especially if they're about to kill you and/or your friends/teammates. I mean, just because you accept it, that doesn't mean they enjoy doing it. Even Shiro Amada in The 08th MS Team killed enemies when he had to despite being adamant about "needless deaths". I do hope that we get to learn more about Mika's past so we can see just why/how he ended up the way he is.
They clearly went with only one per show. That's why we have Kira and not Athrun (who's dead even with him). Most lists do that to keep it from being just ten people from like three or four different series.
Domon Kasshu can actually kick away a building and catch ten bullets in a row. Definitly the strongest gundam pilot when not piloting a gundam. Kamille Bidan is probably the most powerful New Type since he can use life energy from dead people and become invincible. He can also freeze enemy's mobile suit (I've heard the version that the father of Gundam, Tomino Yoshiyuki, was intended to let Zeta Gundam destroy Earth as an end to the Gundam series). In Gundam ZZ Kamille sends energy from Earth to Judau in the space and fully charged ZZ Gundam. And at that time he was still recovering from the mind damage cuased by Scirocco. But I don't think his pilot skill is better than Char or Amuro. Regardless of power like New Type or Innovator, Graham Aker is perhaps the best pilot in Gundam 00. He can manually transform Flag (yes the transformation of Flag is not programmed). He also cut off an arm of Gundam Throne EINS with a Flag. Even Setsuna won't survive the fight against Gundam Thrones without Trans-AM. And I don't think Setsuna can beat Graham in Season 2 if he doesn't have a much more powerful MS-Gudam 00 Raiser or Innovator power. And Graham actually piolts Gundam Exia R3 after the battle with Els. So he finally becomes a Gundam pilot.
He's the greatest leader too, IMO. Not the best, perhaps, but he looks very cool in his own style. Unfortunately 08th MS Team is not that popular. Short but very well packed.

No Mikazuki Augus? I know Iron Blooded Orphans is not part of the UC universe, but still a great show. He's also one one of the youngest gundam pilots to kick serious ass.
IBO was released in 2017 this was made in 2016 so if they update this vid or do one for most badass gundams at the top will always be barbatos and mika.

Heero Yuy is my favourite for silly reasons. The dude is an outright monster! He almost indestructable, snaps bones back into place and heals in no time. He can withstand point blank esplosions and he is physically strong enough to bend metal with his bare hands.

Jake Land tallgeese wasn’t a gundam, was still just an MS, all three were badass and Zechs was my favorite as well, but maybe Epyon could’ve gotten him on this list as it practically is a gundam but that’s up for debate too.

I've always been in the camp where I list it as a Gundam if not as close to a Gundam as you can get. But I also just love it and Zechs Marquise so maybe I'm viewing it through rose tinted glasses. But the Tallgeese isn't a Gundam per-say, its a proto-gundam suit. The Wing Zero and the others where based on it, but The Tallgeese, T2, and T3 where not Gundams. But Zechs/Miliardo deserves more love though.
I'd like to point out that Amuro is the best pilot officially, according to Sunrise and Tomino. It also makes sense, by the time you get to him in Chars Counterattack hes a sheer monster. Hes using a beat up old Re-GZ at the beginning of the movie (a shitty mass produced suit based on the zeta) and going up against the Jagd Doga and Sazabi, two insanely powerful newtype suits. He makes both suits retreat. When he finally gets the Nu Gundam, hes taking out massive mobile armors without even trying. Even without newtype hax, hes still a beast of a pilot.

I honestly found Athrun the most likable of the gundam pilots in that series. Kira is just a baby and honestly the brother sister thing with him and cagalli was so piss poorly done that it really made that series a tragic mess in my opinion.
Sina Bashirinejad I understand you saying that Heero is the best. Wing was the story that got me into Gundam, but when I started exploring the other timelines, especially the Universal Century, nothing comes close to that one. It’s the only timeline that keeps getting retold because of fucking great it was. And to top it all off, the rivalry between Amuro and Char just made it even sweeter. Amuro definitely deserves to be the Goat pilot. Every other Gundam pilot that came after Amuro have shared a little trait of his attributes. The legend indeed.
No trowa Barton in honourable mentions ? 1) he basically fights with long range artillery decimating armies and can even hold his own against multiple suits with a dinky knife in melee. 2) Professional soldier + spy, infiltrated oz and piloted a Taurus so well that he was given a experimental suit to pilot (vayeate) 3) lost his memory but was still able to pilot a Taurus so well while dual wielding!! 4) while still having memory lost he was not only able to pilot wing zero but survived the zero system and regained his memory 5) can pilot various suits without much effort needed e.g. Taurus (memory loss stage) , vayeate, wing zero (memory loss stage) serpent (when he inflitrated mariemaia army) Random coolness, cool acrobatic moves with his gundam, which is really impossible in real life but cool nonetheless. Any trowa/heavyarms fans here !!??

Shiro Amada, Domon Kasshu, Seabook Arno, and Kou Uraki are all at the top of this list if it was done right. I am surprised neither Kou nor Seabook were even mentioned. Both were phenomenal pilots. Moreover, Shiro never screwed up in a Gundam (or nearly never). He secured victory for the Federation in the One Year War.
Kira is and will probably remain my fav gandum pilot ! P.S : Duo Maxwell comes right next and tbh he should've been in this list, needless to say that Heero deserved a much higher spot
Banagher was actually a really good pilot. If he did not have his kind heart he would have been an unbeatable pilot especially when using the Unicorn in NTD mode.

Maybe because heero was even worse than kira when it came to how they were as a character? While Jesus yamato over there was the biggest Mary Sue since 2000, heero was almost as big of one as he was, and he had absolutely no character development besides, "I seem to hate literally everything while being monotone for the most part" being set as his main personality. Should he be higher than kira? Probably. Is he a likeable character? Sortof. Is he relatable in any way when it comes to the characters emotions like literally any other gundam pilot than him or Setsuna? Hell no. Johnny Fountains Domon is without a doubt the most powerful gundam pilot, he doesn’t need to be a new type to beat every other pilot. He’s a literal super human. Lightning fast reflexes, could catch bullets, punt skyscrapers, fight gundams with his bare hands, etc

Amuro is both a powerful Newtype *and* a skilled pilot; he's the best of both worlds essentially while still being balanced out as opposed to someone like Char Aznable/Caval Rem Deikun, who is far more a naturally gifted pilot but a weaker Newtype, or Judau Ashta, who is a very powerful Newtype, but not *so* great a honed pilot (he's decent, but not among the best shown). The only ones to truly come closer to Amuro's balanced level (in terms of the, official, Universal Century) would be Kamille Bidan of Zeta Gundam and Uso Ewin of Victory Gundam with both being strong Newtypes and also becoming good pilots.

Mikasuki is one of the top 10 pilots and I'd say he's in the top 3 but people the comments need to realize that you can only compare their skill set and not their Gundams because they're Gundams aren't necessarily on par with someone else from a older series. Mika has outstanding spatial awareness and his Mobility is fantastic, also he single-handedly fights multiple opponents with only his close ranged weapon and he beat members of military(gallerhorn) who are trained to use their Machinery in his first time and he didn't even have fuel for a long fight. He's a badass who would sweep any pilot in their universe and the only reason he was ever beaten in the first place was because a spaces rod falling on his ass...but he still raised his kill count with a damaged Gundam.
mika might get a spot for top ten, but it will be ridiculous and mybe just in dream to compare his piloting skills with kira or setsuna. both of them are much way better than him. mika might be badass, but dats does'nt mean that he is better than those two guys.

the thing alot of people are missing is how hard the alex was to pilot, it was meant for new types, she was basicaly piloting a coordinator suit by comparison.
Kou on the other hand is a talented pilot, but he wasnt that good, he was very minor in therms of skill, and Gato was far superior in every single encounter. hell, gato was able to get a draw using a slower, broken unit.
remember, the gp01 was already upgraded with the full vernier, and was incredibly fast at that point, the gp02 however, had a malfunction because of the damaged shield, and literally couldnt use one arm. and yet, Gat still basically won that fight.
Don't forget she completely annilhated Kaminsky in his Kampfer. That was no small feat considering the elite status of Cyclops team.

I prefer balanced pilots like Amuro; pilots who have a phase about it, but manage to get over it and accept the fact that you can't be deep in a war and NOT kill anyone, especially if they're about to kill you and/or your friends/teammates. I mean, just because you accept it, that doesn't mean they enjoy doing it. Even Shiro Amada in The 08th MS Team killed enemies when he had to despite being adamant about "needless deaths".
I do hope that we get to learn more about Mika's past so we can see just why/how he ended up the way he is.

Domon Kasshu can actually kick away a building and catch ten bullets in a row. Definitly the strongest gundam pilot when not piloting a gundam.
Kamille Bidan is probably the most powerful New Type since he can use life energy from dead people and become invincible. He can also freeze enemy's mobile suit (I've heard the version that the father of Gundam, Tomino Yoshiyuki, was intended to let Zeta Gundam destroy Earth as an end to the Gundam series). In Gundam ZZ Kamille sends energy from Earth to Judau in the space and fully charged ZZ Gundam. And at that time he was still recovering from the mind damage cuased by Scirocco. But I don't think his pilot skill is better than Char or Amuro.
Regardless of power like New Type or Innovator, Graham Aker is perhaps the best pilot in Gundam 00. He can manually transform Flag (yes the transformation of Flag is not programmed). He also cut off an arm of Gundam Throne EINS with a Flag. Even Setsuna won't survive the fight against Gundam Thrones without Trans-AM. And I don't think Setsuna can beat Graham in Season 2 if he doesn't have a much more powerful MS-Gudam 00 Raiser or Innovator power. And Graham actually piolts Gundam Exia R3 after the battle with Els. So he finally becomes a Gundam pilot.

I'd like to point out that Amuro is the best pilot officially, according to Sunrise and Tomino. It also makes sense, by the time you get to him in Chars Counterattack hes a sheer monster. Hes using a beat up old Re-GZ at the beginning of the movie (a shitty mass produced suit based on the zeta) and going up against the Jagd Doga and Sazabi, two insanely powerful newtype suits. He makes both suits retreat. When he finally gets the Nu Gundam, hes taking out massive mobile armors without even trying. Even without newtype hax, hes still a beast of a pilot.

I honestly found Athrun the most likable of the gundam pilots in that series. Kira is just a baby and honestly the brother sister thing with him and cagalli was so piss poorly done that it really made that series a tragic mess in my opinion.

Sina Bashirinejad I understand you saying that Heero is the best. Wing was the story that got me into Gundam, but when I started exploring the other timelines, especially the Universal Century, nothing comes close to that one. It’s the only timeline that keeps getting retold because of fucking great it was. And to top it all off, the rivalry between Amuro and Char just made it even sweeter. Amuro definitely deserves to be the Goat pilot. Every other Gundam pilot that came after Amuro have shared a little trait of his attributes. The legend indeed.

1) he basically fights with long range artillery decimating armies and can even hold his own against multiple suits with a dinky knife in melee.
2) Professional soldier + spy, infiltrated oz and piloted a Taurus so well that he was given a experimental suit to pilot (vayeate)
3) lost his memory but was still able to pilot a Taurus so well while dual wielding!!
4) while still having memory lost he was not only able to pilot wing zero but survived the zero system and regained his memory
5) can pilot various suits without much effort needed e.g. Taurus (memory loss stage) , vayeate, wing zero (memory loss stage) serpent (when he inflitrated mariemaia army)
Random coolness, cool acrobatic moves with his gundam, which is really impossible in real life but cool nonetheless.

Shiro Amada, Domon Kasshu, Seabook Arno, and Kou Uraki are all at the top of this list if it was done right.
I am surprised neither Kou nor Seabook were even mentioned. Both were phenomenal pilots. Moreover, Shiro never screwed up in a Gundam (or nearly never). He secured victory for the Federation in the One Year War.

Banagher was actually a really good pilot. If he did not have his kind heart he would have been an unbeatable pilot especially when using the Unicorn in NTD mode.

no, not athrun zala, who was actually a semi-decent character in seed/seed destiny, just the whiny crybaby asshole who constantly bitches his Mary Sue ass to sleep about how war is bad. of course it is, but Amuro was 15 when he was dragged into the one year war, and kira bitched way more about shit that he did, and at least Amuro has a sense of mortality to him. the only reason I didn't dislike this list was the fact Amuro was 1.
Maybe because heero was even worse than kira when it came to how they were as a character? While Jesus yamato over there was the biggest Mary Sue since 2000, heero was almost as big of one as he was, and he had absolutely no character development besides, "I seem to hate literally everything while being monotone for the most part" being set as his main personality. Should he be higher than kira? Probably. Is he a likeable character? Sortof. Is he relatable in any way when it comes to the characters emotions like literally any other gundam pilot than him or Setsuna? Hell no. I'm sure these people were probably pulling a judgement call since they probably either like some of these shows better, or they just don't want to invoke the wrath of the church of Jesus yamato, since all those idiots do is bitch about how seed is better than everything(even tho halfway through the first show kira tried to be the protagonist of turn A and failed terribly). There is your answer. I agree heero should be higher on the list by one, but only because seed should be bottom of the barrel.

Johnny Fountains Domon is without a doubt the most powerful gundam pilot, he doesn’t need to be a new type to beat every other pilot. He’s a literal super human. Lightning fast reflexes, could catch bullets, punt skyscrapers, fight gundams with his bare hands, etc

Eh, that puts him at the top of being an Innovator, sure, but "pilot" in general? I wouldn't say so...
Amuro is both a powerful Newtype *and* a skilled pilot; he's the best of both worlds essentially while still being balanced out as opposed to someone like Char Aznable/Caval Rem Deikun, who is far more a naturally gifted pilot but a weaker Newtype, or Judau Ashta, who is a very powerful Newtype, but not *so* great a honed pilot (he's decent, but not among the best shown).
The only ones to truly come closer to Amuro's balanced level (in terms of the, official, Universal Century) would be Kamille Bidan of Zeta Gundam and Uso Ewin of Victory Gundam with both being strong Newtypes and also becoming good pilots.

(That's why she said "Gundam is the enemy...*I* am the enemy!" and snapped out of it) Besides the whole concept of Unicorn Gundam is that in this series only Gundam can be more than weapons: they can create Newtypes, which, again, for this series only, they were re-defined as people who can understand each other into and persuade into peace, and she did that in her spirit/psycho/Newtype/whatever form

My point is, in Unicorn Gundam, you can karate your way thru a Big-ass Mofo red-thing with more I-fields than Jagger with pure Psycho fields, so there's no telling how many layers of Gundanium alloy Marida can Judo-chop with her Psycho power which created that huge green light everyone including some on earth saw

Mikasuki is one of the top 10 pilots and I'd say he's in the top 3 but people the comments need to realize that you can only compare their skill set and not their Gundams because they're Gundams aren't necessarily on par with someone else from a older series.
Mika has outstanding spatial awareness and his Mobility is fantastic, also he single-handedly fights multiple opponents with only his close ranged weapon and he beat members of military(gallerhorn) who are trained to use their Machinery in his first time and he didn't even have fuel for a long fight. He's a badass who would sweep any pilot in their universe and the only reason he was ever beaten in the first place was because a spaces rod falling on his ass...but he still raised his kill count with a damaged Gundam.
Whereas WatchMojo only had enough power to include a smol clip of him near the start. Boo.
