RIP Chris Darnell, driver of Shockwave. Tragic accident at a Michigan airshow today. We love being entertained by these guys, but sometimes take for granted how dangerous their job is.
Had the privilege to work there this summer and I gotta say that was quite the night. You were right when you say we had to work our butts off after motz truck caught fire.
This was some of the best well shot video Ive seen. I remember growing up going to the night of fire every summer at Norwalk, coming up the country roads from Buckeye Lake. Good times
Awesome video. We were one of the show cars and we serviced the car and were ready to go for our 2nd show lap when everything went dark. I can say everyone in the pits were absolutely as confused as everyone in the stands. We would have loved to go make the last pass, but I can say the fireworks still made a great finale to the abbreviated show, especially that fireball.
I can't think of one. And the tickets really aren't that high for the amount of time you can be there either, with all of the different things going on.
Great video. If you look in all of your clips during the main show the guy in the uniform against the wall about 1/8th mile and the first person to the DONK during the crash was actually myself and I was the head of standing before the show and Sunday
I remember you running out there after the crash. I'm glad the driver was OK, but I can't imagine what you were thinking you'd come up to when you were running to him.
@@TheGeocab yeah out of habit went to the back for a kill switch and never looked at the cars besides when they came on a trailer so I had no idea if there was an bit of cage or anything the biggest struggle was getting his door open bc it was pushed back so the window was stuck behind the b Pillar. It was my first year working at the track being from Michigan that is definitely one of the best and I can’t wait to work there this season
I had to work that summer to in concessions if you went to the fire house pizza you might have saw me blut we were so buissy it was ridiculous, and when the power went out we had to move all of the ice cream in the freezer to the freezer with a backup generator. It was ridiculous but it was a memory also
What a hot day too. I drank about 12 bottles of water. But it was great to see finals in all the races this year. Too bad the brother/sister Junior race was decided by a red light.
@@TheGeocab definitely one of the better shows yes fireworks was awesome hard to see breathe but loved it hoping they burn the sign next year I have video of motz burning it few years ago think it's the best show in all of Ohio
@@chrislovejoy6003 I thought for sure he was going to get the sign this year. When the flames engulf that, it's such a sight. I think I may try to move to the Summit side next year. If I can.
@@TheGeocab I'm definitely going on other side I'm going get seats at the tree area last stands there are the little ones if not than goin 1aon that side our side sun killed me so brutal

The efforts of the crew did not go unnoticed. You guys were great!
These guys put their lives on the line to entertain the crowds.

Thank you for the compliment. I can't believe this year's show is less than a month away already.

I'm glad you liked it. The power outage was a definite stroke of bad luck especially after the rain went around the park.
Great Job Thank You
Thanks for the compliment.
Nice job 👍
What other sport can you get six or eight hours of excitement for a single event ???

Do you know what song they were playing when jet cars came up? I remember it was a choir of people softly singing
I unfortunately don't. Hopefully someone from the park can chime in.
Hope they take a moment of silence of chris
I bet they will.
