Mine was core shot in exactly that spot within 2 days of use! Very unimpressed. Useful tip thanks, although I'm reluctant to buy another one to try it out
I was telling someone on a course of mine about it the other day... they came in the next day having been a bit over zealous and had cut through the sheath and had to buy another one!
plastic cover looks like clear heatshrink tubing (not the adhesive lined type) to keep the serial number intact & potentially to protect the bartack. :-j
Doesn’t anyone know how to tie double fishermans anymore? Why do we need a pre-made cordelette? 27 years of climbing, and my homemade prusik cordelettes have never failed me…
@@JBMountainSkills Aren't these tech cords supposed to be tied with a triple fisherman's? In any case the sewn slings are neater, smaller volume than a knot and official UIAA rated so... why not?

Argh that's annoying. I bet this tip would prevent it on another though ;)
That’s a great tip! Never thought of that.
Pleasure :)
I love how you specify “carefully”.

Man I had a jammy get completely ruined within a week of buying it. This is super helpful to know
Sorry the tip came too late!

Yep, probably!
Hola! Can these be used as normal slings? :)) I have been doing so and have been questioned about it!
@@moustaphabaya7887 yep 😊
Can you ‘carefully’ cut all of the plastic off without affecting the strength?
@@PhilipMccosh the plastic adds zero strength.
where to cut exactly? 🥴
The plastic cover, carefully trim that back.

I expect most people can but the fact is people do buy these and they can be useful in some circumstances. Hopefully this tip helps a few people.
