The first sensor was for 4wd. The second 2wd sensor is described as RWD.

did you pop the 10A Display fuse or lose any of your instrument cluster and blower fan capability? I recently threw a pending P0500 VSS code.
When the sensor is bad n throw the code does it affect the shifting of the transmission ?

Did you have the ABS, TRCOFF, or VSC Lights on too? I have these lights on in addition to the speedometer and odometer not working
I do not specifically remember on this car if they were all on BUT I do know that often times, they do come on together with the check engine light because they’re all tied in together. Don’t be alarmed when you see it all on, it doesn’t mean that all those aspects have issues, they just come on together sometimes. After I fix whatever the scan tool says, I usually reset the lights and see if it comes on again. I hope that helps, thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

@@josesanrafael9120 I found the 01-02 Toyota 4Runner ABS TRC VSC Traction Control Skid Module 89540-35270 on eBay for $160. That was the fix. Not the speed sensor. Hope this helps.

Mine is just leaking oil, but speed odometer is working fine! Should I still need to replace that sensor or just o ring? Thanks for the video
If you can find the Oring, just change that.

My cuise control only works in hot weather on my 2004 Tacoma, same engine and tranny as your '02 4Runner. Cold winter and fall months is a no go, so could I have a bad speed sensor?
what the part # for correct sensor you got ?

Did u have to jack up the car to replace it?
Yes I did, it was a standard height 4Runner but still had to jack it up a bit.

Did any of your other lights come on like the ABS AND VSC
Sandra Jones Hey, thanks for watching my videos. Per your question, sometimes the ABS & VSC lights are tied in together with the check engine light. After you switch out the speed sensor, reset the check engine light and the rest should go away.
Is this the v6? 4x4?
I changed the speed sensor with the same code and it did not fix the problem. What are my next steps?
That’s a tough one. Sometimes the brand is the problem, I usually buy factory (or for Toyota’s, Denso) because I’ve had numerous times where I bought an off brand or aftermarket and it just did not work. If that’s not the case then I’d advise you to take it to a mechanic, it could be a lot of different issues and when it gets to that point it’s best to leave it to the professionals.

Roy man, i cannot find the correct part anywhere, i had the same problem at first getting the wrong sensor. Where did you get the correct one??
I got mines from my trusted local parts store, I told them the first one was incorrect and brought in the old one on the car, and they gave me the right one the second time around! Sorry I can’t help more but thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I'm confused about how many sensors the 4runner has. I heard there's one on the rear axle in the middle nd 2 on trans...
I apologize about the late response, and I must’ve missed your comment. The car only had ONE speed sensor on the tail shaft, there are other sensors but only one speed sensor. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
