Actually it wasn't a french ambush pope. It was a sally out by the Coalition which took the imperials by surprise. (One of many). And the Imperials saw that this time the force was much more numerous and Victor saw that Barrossa was a strategic point (Rightfully). So he forced march most of his force there taking the position at first.
@@Don-py8xv I thought Graham landed outside Cadiz with the aims of relieving the siege ? And Victor block the road and caught the coalition on the march so sorta an ambush
@@PopeJohnPaul Graham and La Peña. And they were aiming for Sancti Petri. Since Zayas had already stablished a position there. Both manouvres taking out imperial elements out of their positions. So Zayas contingent alongside Graham and La Peña would pincer the Imperial forces at Chiclana (Which is how this battle is called in Spain). It is true that early in the morning Villars made a manouvre to disrupt Zayas position but achives little in the end. Victor's plan was to strike on Graham and La Peña reguard and take the hill. This battle has a lot of nuances and missunderstandings mainly from the british side. In the end, Victor commits his granadiers on to the british scot and gren guards. He starts to retreat from his position after having heavy loses on both sides. The spanish see the french are retreating and they ask the british to commit their forces too in persue, following the initial plan. But they refused as they claimed to had already heavy loses. (Later on the british would deny this)
Is this the 2v2 scenario battle set up in NTW3 with the historical order of battle and troop placement? It starts with the Spanish strung out on the beach and the Brits crossing the pine wood, about to be hit it the flank by Victor's French troops on their way to take the Cerro del Puerco
@@lordzmoddingcollective9118 it's not exactly the same as the set one Lordz recommends but it's very similar
I can only recommend these scenarios 🙂 They are pre-set, with the right units in the right places, sometimes even with the historical formations documented to be employed. Would be nice to see e.g. th massive-scale Waterloo (Early) NTW3 scenario
@@lordzmoddingcollective9118 we used the corps historically there bar a cheeky Ney corps to balance the French side pts wise
Epic battle
@@Lord.Uchiha_Madara was a bloody one!
that was a lot of fimming by the coaltion
@@rubric-eo5yj was a bit
Wouldn't be a normal NTW battle if the Coalition didn't get a bunch of it's artillery sniped by French cav. Coalition would've been better off just setting the arty up along the road to harass the French cav - they were going to lose the arty anyway...
Yeah those Spanish guns were easy kills :(
