loved that old Fosters commercial.....Australian for remote control....a bloke throws a stubby at another in a pub...hits him in the head....and he reaches up to change the channel. LMAO
About nickname i learned a lot for us to understand clearly about this great and amazing lesson so that we may use it as long as my i don't wanna talk with lozza
What you Aussies call "bogons", we Americans usually call either a "redneck", or a "hick", other terms would be "country bumpkin", "yokel", and in the southeastern U.S. (especially in upland areas), a "hillbilly". But there might or might not be other terms we use for them.
Thanks a lot about it and i gotta actually say that keep up the good work coz I've been understanding more from you videos even though my girlfriend is having some bacon sarny every single day without giving us
Thanks Nienke! We miss you too! Haha there is just so much slang and expressions we use that we had to keep it short otherwise the video would be hours long! 😆
From the Colonial times, a Victorian was a Gumnut, a New South Welshman was a Cornstalk, Gone Troppo was due to the incessant rain in the wet season in the tropics, people would actually go a little crazy. A stubby is a small bottle of beer, usually 375ml, budgie smugglers are speedos,
@@shoresaresandy We Victorians are called Mexicans because we are South of the Border AND have a river to cross! Please don't confuse us with New South Welshmen, They're a Weird Mob up there!
A lot of these we use in the UK! 🇬🇧😄 But then a lot of Australians have British heritage plus we grew up watching Prisoner Cell Block H and Neighbours 😝 and in London we've had a large Aussie community. However, a lot had me stumped and even I was amazed at the unique phrases. Love you guys! ❤️
At 13 i came to Australia from NZ. I had a soft drink and a kid at school said...give us a swig...i did not know what he said...it meant a sip of the drink.
You did the yeah, nah but wheres the nah, yeah? Some terms I use quite a bit and come to mind (not counting the one's you've mentioned) - Are doing the Holt - Got Buckley's - Chunder.
Got a favourite expression? Did we miss one? Tell us in the comments :)
It's hilarious to hear so many Aussie slang words so close together. Makes you realise how often we use them - and how great they are 😅
Glad you enjoyed it Fiona :)

Stubbies used to be a small bottle of beer made from glass about 10 cm across and about 15 cm tall.
You can attribute "stoked" to a fire. When you stoke a fire it gets invigorated and/or excited.

A stubby is a small bottle of beer, usually 375ml. A large bottle is a tallie and a can is a tinnie or just can.
No shit Sherlock

a tinnie is a tinnie a stubbie is a VB bottlle (or any bottle beer)
Pretty sure "crow eater" is a reference to the SA coat of arms. Looks like a crow on a plate. Or a magpie in any case.
Loved it! Miss living in Ozzie and miss you guys as well! ☺ You forgot my favourite expression though: G'day! 😂 😘
Thanks Nienke! We miss you too! Haha there is just so much slang and expressions we use that we had to keep it short otherwise the video would be hours long! 😆
Well done ladies
Thank you so much Wayne 😊

In Qld we call people from NSW and Victoria Mexicans as you live south of our border!

That was the most informative Australian slang video I've ever seen. I will probably still fail the quiz, though.
Aww that's amazing! So glad you liked it Adam :)
I feel a bit musswelbrook today. As crook as rookwood, Rookwood is an old and large cemetery in Sydney. Joe (blake) for snake, noah(s ark) for shark
A can is a can, a stubbie is a glass bottle, the same shape as a bundy ginger beer. A paddock is exactly the same as a field, it gets plowed.
Not necessarily ploughed. eg, a cow paddock or football paddock
A couple you left out are...dunny = a toilet, or the little room where the toilet is
Durrie or dart = a cigarette
Thanks for sharing 😉
A Bogan is a bloke with a mullet carrying a stubbie who runs around like a blue ass fly. cheers

Thanks Tony! Hope to see you when we go live! :)
How about "driving the porcelain bus" or "technicolor yawn". Both meaning throwing up.
Great additions 😂
Love your video
However
A stubbie is NOT a can of beer, it's a small bottle
Crikey

Map of Tassie = women's bushy bit.
If your from Melbourne or a Mexican cause you’re south of the boarder
Girls please, a stubbie is NOT a tinnie, a stubbie is a half bottle of beer made from glass. Fun vid tho, thanks.
Will correct yas on one thing, a stubby is a short bottle, a nickname coined by VB, not a can/tinny
Very good
