I really enjoy these clothes videos, they're so chill but inspiring! But also.. would love a video of "on-screen boyfriends that need to get in the bin" 😂
it seems sort of parallel to my "art student" aesthetic, but that one feels by default a bit more modern rather than the sort of early-1900s origins of dark (and other) academia aesthetics. it does allow for lots of weird things and loads of colour though so I love it for that.
My favourite outfit was the last one, I was surprised you didn't like it as it looked great and you wore it better than Anne Hathaway. I would love to see you do one of these videos for Mamma Mia
Agreed-on all counts! Loved the final outfit and that you challenged yourself with a monochromatic outfit! Also, would LOVE to see this concept lived out with Mamma Mia!! 😍😍😍
Leena Norms is the only one who can inspire me to wear a cow-print pair of pants with a sea green top and yellow pumps. And she has for which I'll forever be grateful. I'd found them all while thrifting btw.
I panicked when I saw the title because I thought it was going to be a video essay against depop, one of my favourite creators against one of my favourite thrifting apps. Relieved to see it was a delightful, indulgent continuation of the media-inspired fashion Depop series ❤️
One of my favourite bands growing up was a metal band also called The Devil Wears Prada. They wore the classic skin tight jeans, vans, v-neck shirts with swoopy emo fringes. I think you should do an 'outfits inspired by 2010's emo bands' video next.
When they were 50p and I was little, My mum actually used to use it as a measure to show me how expensive things were. Like 'But leena, is this worth EIGHT MARS BARS???' lol
Your very forward love of leopard print has had me eyeing pieces up for a perfect versatile bit to add to my wardrobe, and this video is also adding the last nail to the coffin of "I'm not past my plaid phase I just need to find it in pieces other than button down flannels" thoughts. Bless ye for constantly reminding me I enjoy fashion, and that the playfulness of it is actually good for me.
Can we all agree that leena absolutely OWNED that neck-line black dress! and the oversized crop woollen cardi was so cute on her! Leena the outfits you put together were gorgeous! *posh claps*
Okay but I'm definitely trying out that last outfit with the thigh high boots once autumn rolls around! 😍Also that Ron Weasley "WHOOAA!" at the beginning made me laugh more than it should! 😂
that black dress in fit #3 leena!! i thought you looked stunning with the red lip too. psychedelic academia might just be one of the best concepts I've heard. really inspired to create outfits from my favourite movies.
Love this so much Leena, you look amazing in all of them and have inspired me to trawl Depop rather than completing my ASOS order! A Friends inspired one would be 👌
OMG I would love that, except friend had so many outfits maybe "The one where nobody is ready" just for Leena doing Joey wearing all Chandlers clothes and Phoebe with her Christmas ornament!
I love this! I can't remember if you've already done The Princess Diaries, but it definitely feels like you should do one (maybe a different character each day again, a la Mean Girls?). I need more leopard print and plaid in my wardrobe!!
From the title I thought the video would be about the issues with drop shipping and overpriced vintage etc what Kristen Leo has discussed in her video. Anyway, I really enjoy this video style and hope there'll be many more 🙂
I absolutely love the idea of taking fashion inspo from "out of style" trends rather than focusing on what's trendy now! Definitely sounds like something I want to try. Great video as always Lena :)
I was really taken aback by the reveals of day 3, 4 and 5. stunning!! would have loved to see a closer up shot of you teal make up on day 4, it looked so beautiful :))
Your flower earrings were the things that originally drew me into your videos. I made some dupes out of leftover flowers from centerpieces from my wedding 🌸
@@quinnfunk9105 i don't know either. But they look to me like she could have made them herself. Aren't they simply a big hoop that is pierced through a fake flower?
Ok but the green outfit minus the knit cardigan (too slouchy imo) is SO GOOD!! I love the belt, high rise pants are in and the leopard print makes it a fun dressy outfit!
Thank you so much for adding such detailed and accurate captions. It really makes a difference, cause a lot of people can't watch without them. It's a breath of fresh air to see the effort you put in. Love your vids!
The second one for some reason is giving me Oscar the Grouch of Sesame Street going out on the town and I’m living. It’s definitely the color of the cardigan and texture that give the look that vibe.
I loved all of these, they were a ton of fun! I showed my husband the Day 2 look and he was like, "well clearly that's your favorite," however it's tied with the black formal dress, that was stunning. Thank you for this inspiring video. As someone who has a lot of pieces (i have/had a thrifting problem) I'm always struggling on how to style all of them, but this is such a fun way to go about it! If only the weather would allow layers.
This totally inspired me to checkout Poshmark, and instead of purchasing a new coat, I found a beautiful pre-loved coat and a few others new-to-me treasures. Thank you!
Your Stanley tucci outfit is fucking gorgeous! I love the green and leopard print as well. Watched a couple of your movie outfit inspired videos lately and I've been in a fashion rut, so they're inspiring me on how to try a few new things!
I love how you fit the outfits to your style but still focus on going outside your comfort zone in one way or another every time, it's a great balance that makes it way more entertaining, but it also is way better way to bring across the message of 'be yourself'. When watch your videos I never think 'I need to do this the exact same way' but I always feel so inspired and that I've been able to share in some of your insights, like we're girlfriends and we just had a shopping session. And I can't even find anyone who does it like you on youtube! Truly outstanding, I hope you're ahead of your time and that this is the direction we're moving in.
I think you're right about the black outfit. Monochromatic looks are mostly good when they're good quality. Not necessarily expensive, but just well-made or just certain type of materials. A lot of synthetics just don't look good in monochromatic outfits.
Love this concept. I only buy from Vinted and charity shops nowadays and find mix and matching with what I already have is so much more sustainable and interesting that buying what shops deem as "fashionable"
What's actually uncanny to me is that I was literally binge watching Devil Wears Prada style analysis videos all this past week, then I see this handy dandy upload in my subscriptions. THANK YOU FOR THAT WONDERFUL, SYNCHRONOUS TIMING WOW.
I loved this video, and all the outfits except for the Stanley one, not sure why, might be the mesh, which I've never been a fan of. The thigh high boots looked awesome on you, but I agree with you that the quality of the materials and cut make a big difference, particularly for simple outfits like the last one. The "green coat" outfit was surprisingly great! I wasn't expecting the lime cardigan to work this well. Thank you for the inspiration and boost of motivation :)
I think you look amazing in the last outfit (and all of them!!) even if you can’t afford the lux designers (lol who can), when you’re doing an all-black look it’s helpful to select items with different textures!! It helps distract from the lesser quality textiles!
Leena, the green plad outfit is ✨INCREDIBLE✨ and the last one I definitely like more your version (also think you look better 🤭). Also I've been looking for a dress with a similar neckline as that black one for ages, hope one day I finally find one, bc I think it looks really cute 😌
I loved this so much definitely one of the best "outfits inspired by" videos you've done I think! Generally quality of the videos has been top tier lately, you're making really great stuff
I love these kinds of videos as well as your book reviews Leena! I’d watch you do your eye makeup too. I’m in awe how how playfully you use your make up and clothing!
I really enjoy these clothes videos, they're so chill but inspiring! But also.. would love a video of "on-screen boyfriends that need to get in the bin" 😂
Second this video request.
I actually have something similar in my drafts, so maybe I'll pull it out for a Monday video soon ;)
YES!!!!!
Great idea!
Ooo yes! Anne Hathaway in The Intern needs to be added to that list, getting back with her cheating husband 👎
Oh my goodness, chaotic academia is an aesthetic I didn't realize I needed.
I think that maybe my next aesthetic aim if I get accepted for teacher training!!

@@lucie4185 i recently finished my teacher training and my clothes are absolutely chaotic academia vibes 😂 good luck with your application!
That sounds like Ms Frizzle's style 🤣 I love it
ahh the double blue-green plaid outfit with the turquoise eyeshadow was incredible!! such a fan of that mesh top whenever it makes an appearance
I find mesh tops so fun to style, especially when you have tatts!
@@leenanorms Love that skirt! Are you going to replace the old elastic so you don't need to wear it with a belt?
I am obsessed with this one!!!
You talk about the climate crisis is a constructive way. Which is definitely more helpful than doomerism. 👚
The Nigel outfit also gives off such Emily energy as well! The teal eyeshadow, the dark colors and the preppy pattern. She should've gone to Paris...
Yes! It reminded me of Emily as well!
My favourite outfit was the last one, I was surprised you didn't like it as it looked great and you wore it better than Anne Hathaway. I would love to see you do one of these videos for Mamma Mia

In fairness it looked really hot to wear in August and that can make you hate something that you would love in winter.
Totally agree!

Plaid is a lifestyle, not a phase mum! ;)
„Chaotic academia“ made me laugh, isn’t that just academia?
My exact thoughts 😂
Chaotic academia! I feel like that finally matches my personal vibe of that aesthetic.
I mean, same - let's make it a thing.

love the Nigeel look best. The makeup and black Docs gave it a real high fashion Avant garde grunge look very Alexander Mcqueen.
my GOD that green cardigan is AMAZING!! I'm gonna try & find yarn to knit my own now, the outfit with it was definitely my favorite!
I loved that entire outfit! The trousers, the cardigan....yes! So good! Wish I knew how to knit a cardigan like that
Would love to see a video of you doing a contemporary aesthetics challenge e.g. dark academia, e-girls, cottage core 😊
Yesssss and emo/punk looks, maybe from London punk back in the day. Early 2000s looks might be fun. I'm obsessed with y2K looks!!
