I wish you the best on your new career journey + look forward to hearing more about it. ❤😊 I really appreciate what you've shared here about the 'conventional job' vs. 'escaping the conventional job.' From my life experience, I feel like sometimes the 'working for yourself spiritual business' approach gets romanticized as freeing, without the necessary acknowledgment that it also means real precarity in terms of income: my own job (not spiritual/tarot related) frequently gets touted as "oh it's great, she can make her own hours, it's so flexible!" but that's really code for "she has no job security." I feel like sometimes the pressure to make our joys/hobbies/practices into jobs can negatively affect our enthusiasm for things too, which is challenging (I felt this a bit in grad school, loving my thesis topic but then also feeling exhausted by it).

THIS! Somehow you always manage to encapsulate these incredible points into your comments, in a way I can't 😆😂 I know exactly what you mean, and opinions of various types of work can be such annoyance to contend with! Many thanks for your magical words, as always, friend 💚💚💚

Hi James, I am so pleased you are ok, and I truly understand your choice. I have just been made redundant, after over 28 years at the same company, so I plan to read as a part time job. Always enjoy your content and look forward your next video. Take care David

I was waking up with you...and having my morning coffee ☕️ I always love the way you use words. You have a unique talent forexample explaining books in way that I know what it's about but the plot won't be ruined.
I'm so exited for your big leap into the "rat race". It's good to have some young brilliant blood into the business world when many might be bored or tired already. And I think it's a brilliant concept of talking about the flip side cause that is the major reality to most of us... most of us can't build a van out of a trshcan and tape and go traveling the world 😅 you know what I mean.
I'm in for this ride 🤓❤️

Hey James! Great to see you and hear some more good book recommendations! I've just finished my first Octavia Butler (Dawn) which I think you recommended once! And The Starless Sea was my favourite book of last year so I appreciate your taste! 😀
Glad you're doing well and have found a new path that you're excited about. You are spot on that "influencer" culture glorifies the self employed. Trying different modes of working and finding what suits you is so important. Personally I like being around people all day and routine and I enjoy my job because of that. Being employed might not be sexy, but it's secure and I know in the US health insurance etc is important too. Which is a long way of saying you do you and I'm excited for your new journey.

Oh yay, I'm glad my recommendations panned out ☺️ We need to start a book club! I like your thoughts on employee and definitely agree, you make some great points! Haha, yes, healthcare is not so fun here and certain types of employment are definitely needed to secure it. I hope you are well, friend 💚💚💚

Congratulations on your new profession! May it bring you joy and freedom. Sounds strange to use the word freedom, with a 9 to 5 job, but it can imho. I couldn't mix my tarot and spirituality into a profession, it would suck a lot of the joy out of that which I find sustaining, fun and engaging. That is for my own personal sense of well being. I admire and realize many people can and do mix those elements very successfully. Would love to hear how it is going for you, that is if you feel at ease discussing your new life style. I'm glad you are feeling better and I loved hearing about your reads!

You are too kind, thank you ☺️ You make some excellent points that I tend to agree with! I would love to share more, and also hear how your journey has been; balancing a career with a spiritual path. Best wishes to you, friend 💕💕

@@jamesfeeney623 I feel like I am literally on a balance beam at times. Balancing my profession and my spiritual path is very difficult at times for me. Sometimes the beam is 6 feet wide and I can't be knocked off it if a tornado hit. Other times the beam is 2 inches and I'm laying flat out trying not to fall. Leaving work at work and home at home helps, but life doesn't always play along with that. I do meditate on my breaks at work, and try and leave the area I work for lunch and/or dinner. I work 12 hour shifts. When I get home I allow myself 20 minutes of free writing in my journal about my day, then leave it there, in a closed notebook. In my notebook go the questions I have/had during my day that I need to reflect on spiritually, then I do more journalling at night before bed. Writing down my thoughts really helps me find a balance, it's talking to myself for sure lol. This could be a very long discussion :) I wonder often what is spirituality? What is it to me? How do I fit it into all aspects of my life? Does spirituality evolve? does it devolve (if that is an acutual word) lol More questions then answers, :) An interesting and fulfilling quest, is my spirtual path, where the questions and answers change often.

Tarot reading makes for a great part time job but full time? Not sure. There are relatively few people who have 'made it' as professional full time tarot readers - Teresa Reed The Tarot Lady is notable - but they usually diversify into other aspects of spiritual or psychic work.
To really make a reliable and comfortable income from tarot, you need to build up the business into something more. Brigit of Biddy Tarot has turned her tarot business into a behemoth but I can't think of anyone else who managed that.
As a professional therapist I had considered going full time with tarot but I now believe part time is as far as I'll go. Instead, I'm thinking of taking a political step by becoming a union steward for my professional association. Plus tarot (and Magick!)
