      Yeah, I wasn't planning to participate at all this year, because I just want to focus on my plans, but when Colette explained that she was doing an 8-day acrostic, I figured I could at least play along that much. :) It helps that she has a lot of traveling in February, so SHE can only play along for a limited time as well.

    Hi Sarah, I’m about to start the Union Jack flag on February 11th when I go on a cruise etc. I’m thinking about doing it 1:1 on 32ct. As I no longer like my stitches doing 2:2. The quakers are in relief and not stitched but I’m thinking about stitching them in which would then make it f/c. Looking forward to seeing your progress on the USA flag. 😊 Thanks for posting a video each week. Tricia

    • @StitchinMommy
      @StitchinMommy  7 месяцев назад

      I would recommend doing a test stitch of the 1 over 1 on 32 count - I personally find it pretty squishy with a full cross and too sparse with a half cross (unless you're using silks or CXC or something fluffier than DMC). I stitched my Temperature Garden 1 over 1 full cross on 32 count and it worked okay, but there was a lot of white space to allow the stitches to "breathe". This flag will be a bit heavier on the stitching, which is why I am leery. Also, if your fabric is hand-dyed, I would think it would be much too tight, but a plain or printed fabric might be okay if you're willing to have tight coverage. My go-to for 1 over 1 full cross is either 25 or 28 count, but I know we all like different things! Have fun stitching it!

      @flosstubeIjustwanttostitch 7 месяцев назад

      @@StitchinMommy I have done a test stitch and I’m leaning towards 1:2 full cross. It is OK but not as saturated in colour as 2:2 would be which would then be tight if I did f/c. I will start it and see how it goes. I am using 32ct white Lugana.

    If you do want to finish the flag in 4 years, you could slot that in for your “talking to your sister stitching” when the frosted pumpkin stitchery is done. It doesn’t look like the counting is to bad, and fewer colors makes it easier to work on while talking😊 and when it get closer to the 4 years, maybe make it a focus project and then you could probably get it done in 4 years without to much stress😊 just a thought 😊

    Happy stitching to you too!
    The USA flag looks so different from mine - Finland. The lines are even in my flag - going through the quakerblock. They will be so nice to see once stitched! And as always, I do admire your organization and planning! I'm a bit better than last time, since I am taking part in wipgo, I have 4 wips in 25/7 and my haedsal. your organizational knowhow is getting a bit spread with me learning 🙃

    • @StitchinMommy
      @StitchinMommy  7 месяцев назад +1

      True! It seems that the non-USA flags are all stitched with the "background" of the Quaker pattern, leaving the design elements unstitched, while the USA one has some parts with only the Quaker elements stitched and not the background, and some parts with BOTH the elements and background! :D

    Hi, I love your stitching! Especially your full coverage pieces.. I bought a Nora Corbett letter E and was wondering if you could help me do a color change on it. Violet doesn't go with my color pallet for my house. Plus I'd rather use DMC. Red, golds, browns, Sage green and soft yellows are more my thing. Please let me know if you got the time, I know you are a busy mom. Thanks.

    Hi Sarah, thanks for the constant inspiration, I so enjoy watching your videos. I've always been stitching in hand but you've helped me be better with handling larger projects that way. A question for you, what are you using for storage tubes please ? I used to fold the fabric when putting projects away, but I really like the idea of having them rolled up instead. Thank you !

    • @StitchinMommy
      @StitchinMommy  7 месяцев назад +1

      I like keeping them rolled up because then they're ready to go whenever I'm ready to start stitching. I just unroll them to the point where I'm working, and I'm good! Most of my tubes are either recycled tubes that fabric comes in from craft stores, or wrapping paper tubes with a post-it note taped to the bottom. Nothing fancy! :D

      The price can be daunting, especially for a large set of something like these Cats & Hearts ones. I had been eyeing them for awhile because of that. Then, Etsy had some site-wide coupon codes they released a couple times last year and I used that code twice in two separate transactions to get extra $ off my patterns. :)
