I know the internet hated this movie because of the commentary and portrayal, but as an environmentalist and fan of alien life, I strongly disagree as I see more than what the internet thinks, which is why I enjoyed it.
I personally love this movie and especially its amazing and diverse world. The creatures are awesome and me being a zoology geek who loves science fiction stuff it's awesome.
The largest animal is the great loenotarex (sorry if I butchered that) but of course the planet of pandora would need a leviathan class predator in the water, I mean why not
Rewatching the first movie I have realized there is a variety of animal life portrayed however it didn't seem like enough species had been shown to make it feel like an authentic ecosystem. Same case for the sequel in which the sea life is presented... But there you can only find about 4 new species and some random fish swimming around. That is not how an ecosystem works. Additional species wouldn't need much screentime. Some could have been shown only for a few seconds and it would still make a difference.
That franchise is still being developed ,cuz its the future , Deepest SciFi ever has explored through master mind of James Cameron.. juts give him time Meanwhile mind watching other Mega franchises and countless number of awesome TV shows, Games,VR AR+ etc..
While I don’t think the movie is well written, I can agree that the wildlife on Pandora is much more inventive than the stuff we normally get in fictional media.
James Cameron considered about six limbs but it could look too exotic to "us" so there's high possibility that it's hard for audience to have empathy for Na'vis. This is why he decided four limbs same as human.
And now we have the whale-like Tulkun, which is 300 feet long and quite possibly the largest of all Pandora’s animals.

Thanator is the scariest because is basically a pandora version of a Lynel.
