I get very anxious doing these group instances with random people online, and your videos have helped calm my nerves and allow me to just have fun playing the game. Thank you for making them!
Hey no worries! I'm happy to help more people dive in!
@@TomScottDoesStuff I learn more from your videos than others out there. Appreciating how valuable your time is, are there plans to make Extreme versions of these instances as well?
I've been following your guides before every trial. You don't waste my time and you don't treat me like an idiot, they're perfect. Thanks a lot c:
Hey thanks Henry, getting to the point is what I strive for! You're welcome and have a happy Christmas/festive winter holiday!
These guides have so far kept me from melting down from sheer anxiety and panic when I que for for these fights. I can't thank you enough
No problem 😅
I'm years late but these are some of the best guides out there. Well done and thank you for the guides
Thank you! I always enjoy seeing comments like yours. I'm happy my guides have helped :)
very new player here, just wanted to reiterate what everyone else has said; your guides are very succinct while still explaining everything clearly. thank you for making them!
Hey no worries, glad to hear it!
Excellent guides you put out! Just ran this after watching your video. We wiped the first time because some folks had no idea what to do. Even as a sprout, I was able to explain to the uninformed what I had learned from your guide before we started the second attempt. This time we flew through it. Thanks much!
Nice one! I hope you at least got some commendations!
Thank you for this. Due to... experiences in the past, as much as I wanna continue in the game, I have some pretty crippling paranoia of group activities, stacked with me not having played for a year. So something to look and rehearse a bit is appriciated
First try nerves can be a bit of a hurdle. I try to make sure my guides include all the information someone may need - from the perspective of someone like me (who is very nervous about going into things without having as much info as I would prefer).
Glad to hear this guide may have been able to help!
This is no game to be afraid of groups. I have only run into 2 hateful players in 2 years, everyone else has been awesome.
@@MegaTurkeylips some people, myself included, get anxious about letting others down and wasting their time due to lack of knowledge. Many games nowadays make it very difficult to be a new player, luckily for the most part FF hasn't been like that
@@GaaradancepartyX Just did Snowcloak this morning. All sprouts including me (playing an alt). We got wiped a lot but as a group we learned the mechanics, laughed about it and had a great time.
I caught that Harry Potter reference ;)
10 points to Gryffindor!
My favorite bit xD
This is the go to channel for educating myself before every fight. Great job on these videos. I've educated tons of new players by explaining mechanics I learned in your videos.
Hey nice one! And I'm glad to be of help 👍
Your guides are really helping me prepare!
That's neat to hear Kevin! I was hoping to plug some holes in the video guide section for this game so nice to know the work might have paid off :D
Just started a 2 weeks ago and I must say I appreciate your short and to the point videos. Thanks for all of them
Happy to hear it! I hope you have as much fun in Eorzea as I did!
Super helpful, thank you for putting this up. I felt useful in my first run, everyone was very nice, and for as much that was going on visually: it was stress free. I appreciate the guide.
Excellent, perfect guidance, quick, clear and have never steered me incorrectly. Thank you
Nice one! That's good to hear!
I have to say your guides have been a big help in my month or so with FFXIV.
Wish there was one for every Dungeon and Trial.
I can't wait to catch up and go in blind to Endwalker, I hate feeling like I'm tripping up everyones' well practised dance like an arse.
Actually in Endwalker you can also do the dungeons with NPC groups. It's slower than with real people (dps seems very low) but it's a godsend in some regards. I'm doing them all solo first as I don't need to bother looking up tactics and can pause the dungeon whenever I want by just going afk.
And I'm happy to help, perhaps one day I will have the whole MSQ covered - though i have a lot of work ahead of me.
Love your guides! Checking every time I get new encounter and it helps a lot not going totally blind, I appreciate you keep it short yet very informative. Great work!
Thanks! I try to keep the irrelevant information to a minimum so glad to know it seems to be working. Always happy to help, cheers for the support :)
I almost never give a thumbs up to any channel or anyone. You are the 2nd one I ever liked and by god you deserve it. Thank you for the wonderful guides on these bosses.
Wow thanks Zashin! I hope my future stuff can live up to that high level criteria! :D
This just helped me so much! Running into things blind as a tank is so stressful, and this video took that all away :D
Hey been following your guides. Really helpful in me playing the game and understanding what needs to happen next. Just wanted to say thanks
Thank you Andre! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I'm happy to hear the guides have helped!
Geez thanks, one of the players in this instance was yelling confusing commands and none of the first timers (including me) understood them.
I like to just pretend players like that are the text version of those headset guys who don't care that their mic is on and ramble on endlessly incomprehensibly. /emote pat head and slowly push down a ravine.
Thank you for this! I just reached this part of the MSQ, and this helped me get over the nerves I had about running it.
No problem! Glad to help :)
Great guides - I watch them every time I go to a new dungeon. Helps with the mechanics a lot- Nice job!
Thanks! Happy to hear it :)
Hey, I appreciate these guides. They're short, informative,& get straight to the point for some1 who hasn't been playing the game that long. Not confusing or all over the place either, thanks for these guides.
Hi Shynight6, thanks for the feedback, I'm always happy to hear they've been useful. I hope you enjoy your stay in Eorzea, say hi to Limsa Lominsa for me!
Thanks for the guide was so confused when it feels like i am randomly dying had no clue about the mechanics, well now i know
Just blame the healer fam, nae worries :okhand:
This truly prepared me to be back to back terrorized, it was a fun 80 seconds.
I appreciate how quick these guides are. Very helpful, thanks man.
Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeroooooy LENKINS.
Hmm? Oh. The guides. Yeah. Cheers!
@@TomScottDoesStuff Hahahaha!
As a newbie, these are perfect. You don't over explain and I know exactly what to do. Thanks
thanks for these guides. they're just perfect.
You're welcome Dan!
Informative and concise. Good job.
Thanks! :)
This guy makes me laugh randomly so often in the videos.
Jesus and I was trying to cut out the footage of me making mistakes 😬
@@TomScottDoesStuff lmao! Your guides are literally the BEST out there for us sprouts! Ty for everything 🙌
Thanks as always, i've been going through the game and watching your guides along the way. Now back to 7th astral era quests..
I'm not sure what those quest are but I'm going to guess it's another 200 MSQs. Good luck and may the F's be in your chat.
with the new addition of duty support for all of ARR i never did anything with real players until thornmarch. though a lot of people say you dont need guides for these initial trials, without them i wouldve just stopped playing the game. thank you so much, they make me a lot more confident and calm
As a new tank - I can always count on your videos to get rid of the butterflies, senpai.
Hey that's great! I'm glad to help. I hope you're enjoying tanking 🥳
Thanks for doing these straight to the point guides!
Nae worries. Happy to do so.
Thank you very much for these guides! They were really helpful while I tried to learn the mechanics. Greetings from Germany ;)
No worries Danny, good to know they've been useful! Greetings from Finland :D
Another outstanding guide. I subscribed after watching the first. You are 2 for 2 my friend.
Great! Let's see how long that streak lasts :D
That guide was very clear. I liked it allot. Thank you.
No problem, thanks for letting me know!
these guides have been really awesome. feels very good not being "that guy" in the group that keeps dying to mechanics
Good work Austin! Glad to help :)
Hey TSDS, i want to tell you - this guides are really good, and cool. I am a returning player, and cant remember every mechanics - but this guides help me mostly first try-succes every dungeon so far, and only two times died (as a dps). Kudos for you.
Thanks Jozsef! Good to hear you've found them useful! Allow me to just blame your healers for you dying so as to avoid any possible blame on myself - those bloody healers amirite!
Thanks to you I got the mechanics right on first try! Thank you!
Nice one, good job!
did he just say " to get rid of terror, drop more bombs in the middle east"? LOL
Nice try FBI.
"Just pretend you are dps", never gets old. Gonna pretend away! :D
"It's an 8 man dungeon Sir but we seem to have forgotten to give the OT anything to do. Shall we have a quick meeting to decide what to do with them?"
"No."
Two ways to remove terror, only one accessible from in-game. Both very effective.
Had to sub! Thanks for uploading these easy to follow guides!
Nae worries fam 👌

Thanks! This was a huge help!
No worries, glad to hear it!
i literally can't tell if you're making a joke or not when you say if you're being targeted run to the dude who's already stunned so he can share the pain... but in the end it's actually visible that it actually does help haha nice! :'D
😅Yeah it's one of the very few times where you're actually supposed to clip someone with an aoe.
Thank you so much for this.
No problem!
short and to the point, i like it. Subbed
Thanks Matt!
Tus guías son geniales, ayudas un montón. Gracias.
Gracias. ¡Me alegra saber que las guías han sido útiles!
Thank you for the guide :)
No problem!
your guides are very helpful!
Glad to hear it Sky! Thank you :)
"Unplugging Ramuh" and "or worse, expelled" XD
I remember when I was nearly insta-gibbed in that moment it almost made me jump - my first thought was that I screwed the pooch somehow. I think in the later footage cut from that clip I run away a bit from the monster to regroup my thoughts and try and work out what the heckin's just happened.
I didn't get kicked out of school though so it turned out alright in the end ;)
Your humor is fantastic
Thank you!
And people said my jokes were terrible. Well they're not laughing now!
Super helpful, thanks for putting this up!
No problem, glad to help!
"While tanks can eat these, your other group members cannot."
The MT in the run I just did on my alt: *_We'll see about that._*
Nothing like watching a guide after the fight and realizing where you were dying at so much lol
Yeah it's the big guy in the middle you gotta stick.
Oh man I'm rolling on the lessons of how to get rid of terror.
Hoped I found this guide sooner. Finished this few days ago and ate a full 40s terror without anyone to thunder me out of it lmao.
RIP. Well that's more a fail on your group than you to be fair.
"The only way to get rid of terror is by dropping more bombs in the middle east or by getting the terrorized player hit by thunderstorm" 10/10
This trial is really fun if you're playing as a Black Mage. At this point you will have Aetherial Manipulation, so if you notice someone has a Terror debuff and you have a Lightning Storm aoe, you can use it to zoom over to them and look like a hero breaking them out.
Thanks for the help!!
No worries!
that harry potter reference got me. XD i had to pause for 2 minutes to get my shit together.
My insurance doesn't cover damages to viewer's undergarments, sorry :p
watching this before trying this fight for the first time so I'm not a burden on my teammates lol
Yo that Middle East joke had me dying lolll also thank you very much for this guide. I went on to Tank Ramuh Extreme as a result of being able to understand the first fight.
Nice! I don't think even I've done that one yet (though I'm not too sad at the idea of missing out a pugged sync run of this one lol). Happy to help :D
Glad I wasn't the only one that caught the middle east reference, I had to do a double take. lol
another really great guide ! XD I have a question how do you get a health percentage next to the boss name?
Hmm, I think it showed it by default? I might be wrong in which case there must be an option somewhere in the settings. And thanks :D
Tom Scott Does Stuff hmm I have a look through settings but it doesn't show anything
Apparently it's under: System -> Character Configuration -> UI Settings -> HUD -> Display target's remaining HP percentage. Hope that helps ^^
Thanks!
np 👍
That Hermoine reference though lmao.
10 points to Gryffindor!
I wish I saw this video before I spent 2 round of this fight dead on the floor 😖
Terror joke on point
hi tom scott (does stuff) i'm really loving your guides, if i'm at a loss, i'll just come and take a look at what i should be looking out for.
now i do have a question, after noticing you posted this in 2016. i'm wondering if you could help me for the quest a relic reborn (curtana) i can't seem to find the treasure coffer with the weapon. video's from 2014 lead me to a spot where there is nothing to find, waited 15 min for spawning but it didn't..
I know it's in the zaha'rak encampment, but not where, even though having looked through it several times
Thanks in advance
Hey no problem! I had a little check online to refresh my memory about that quest. At X31 Y18 in Southern Thanalan you should find this (very hard to describe) metal circle plinth thing (it's kinda large?). On the front will be a short metal ramp and the big gold chest containing the timeworn Curtana should be on top.
It's been a while since I did that quest but I don't think you need to wait for it to spawn or anything, it should just be there.
Anyway, I hope that helps!
Ah hang on, I see you asked on the same video I checked just now. That's maybe kinda where I remember finding it. It has been a while. Very strange.
no worries! i'm happy you took the time to help me out.
will probably just ask on the fb group.
i've read just buying the items of a market board could also be an option, im not short on gill so maybe it's worth a shot.
Thanks! have a nice day!
Alright so I went to the area and I'm pretty convinced that the location shown in those old videos (31,18) was where I got mine. It's not something silly like you're not actually on that quest part or you're not the right class when looking for the chest?
i should probably have selected the quest as top quest for this?
Really i'm ashamed hahahah
No i'm doing this as a paladin ofcourse, will now head over there when i've selected the quest and let you know!
Thanks again my dude XD
Naer worrieser my buddy :D
it's so amazing
Thank you. Yeep my Pokemon Card collection gets a lot of compliments!
I just did this boss for the first time and the rolling thunder mechanic triggered on me. But every time I tried to get three orbs their would only be 2 around. ended up just finishing the fight being linked lul
Yeah it happens if people start eating them like candy. Can't do much about it.
I’m literally terrified to do this as whim help plz!!!
Why did I keep dieing as a samurai
Did your health drop to 0? Usually I find dying is pretty common when that happens 🤔
What's the song name in the video?
There should be a link in the description. This one is Illalla 👍
@@TomScottDoesStuff thanks 😁
No worries, I hope the question was because you liked it - and not that you're about to end someone's career 😅
@@TomScottDoesStuff haha I actually liked it
Just played through this and the thethered players were both healers so they just powered through lmao
What bgm did you use?
To avoid issues with copyright, I use all of my own music in my guides. The song in this video is Illalla which means 'in the evening'. It and all of the other songs can be found on their own on my channel :)
Lmao I'm about to do this it lost so intimidating
Ah you'll be alright. And if not, the ground looks pretty comfy at least.
I am kinda shocked at how easy the fight is
Yeah these days it's over in a flash... of lightning... because he's a lightning boi. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL amiright??
or worse, expelled XD
