      While Buzzy isn't a real PERSON, the fond memories he could have been part of are VERY real to those who have them. A person can be sentimental regarding an inanimate object.
      Perhaps they had to keep a light on so there would be SOME light to move about the room, and trained it on Buzzy out of affection.

    The do not destroy sign reads: "This item has been identified by The Walt Disney Archives as an item of historical significance to the Walt Disney Company. It should be submitted to the Walt Disney Archives prior to demolition. Should it's location change, please notify the archives staff." This is amazing news! It looks like demolition may actually happen to Cranium Command sadly, but Buzzy and some of the props WILL be safe!

      This does actually quite make sense, because in the original ride, he says all right now where is the light I can turn on, and since Disney decided to close down the attraction, they decided to put a light on for him so he doesn’t get scared of the dark, but it looks like it’s decaying, but somebody has been looking after the animatronic most likely, Disney Imaginaires, or other people And it confuses me because when they stole the animatronic that is a 300 pound animatronic how would somebody be able to lift that and not fall into one of the holes beneath Buzzy and also it is really thin to walk on there so they must’ve had some assistance, but how would they get a cart onto there, but I am thinking that since somebody stole his clothes, it would be less heavy for them to take the animatronic down, but still confusing

    8:11 That's a "loop closet". In the days before digital projection, they'd project stuff on screens (in this case the two "eyes" in the theater) from film. To keep the film from wearing out and scratching, instead of them running onto reels and off again they'd go up and down all those rollers in an endless loop. The film never touches itself. The "closet" has glass doors and an air filtering system to keep dust out.

      I'd hazard a guess, based on the look of that control rack that's still on, that it's easier to leave that light on to have the other lights stay on with it than it is to find a programer to turn it off properly. Plus it keeps people from being surprised if they pass through during a maintenance inspection, a human like shape being silhouetted in the darkness of an abandoned attraction would scare the crud out of almost anyone.
      It looks like it still has an Allen Bradley PLC 5 running the show, and it's still powered up and working based on the indicator lights. As far as I am aware, there are only a handful of schools among those that train PLC programmers that teach anything about the PLC 5. Between that and the potential to have lost the master copy of the program, which would make changing anything a nightmare that most of the programmers I know wouldn't deal with for a single light, it's really not surprising that it's still on.
      And to answer the questions about where my information comes from, I spent a lot of time during my learning of PLCs with my hands on one of those, and I'd recognize that chassis anywhere. It's the top of the rightmost rack @7:07, the one with the green indicator lights and lots of grey plastic cards with labels.

    • @thesmallterror
      @thesmallterror 4 года назад +8

      The automation equipment still appears to be installed and turned on no less (7:03). These are the computers that trigger all the animations and audio for the show. I'm really surprised they still have it powered on. I would expect the power for all these cabinets to be locked out. The mechanical systems themselves probably needed a lot of maintenance so those are probably all gummed up and won't work smoothly anymore.
      The big empty cabinets in the back (e.g. 8:10) were used to hold continuous loops of film for each of the projectors just in front of them. The film is completely removed, probably stored offsite in airtight cans to prevent it going bad. The projectors are certainly years behind on their maintenance and it appears they've all been opened up. Most likely the lamps have been removed as the lamps are somewhat volatile. So even if all the animations were still working, there would be no video.
      Source: I used to work with the exact industrial control systems Disney used to control animations in rides built around this time. I am also a projectionist.

It drains money from the parks and the price of admission cannot always make up the expense. He is still in there because they are too lazy to remove him, by now i'm sure he no longer functions due to lack of proper maintenance, but they change the lights most likely for a night light esc thing for Cast Members to use when going through the theater.

    I wonder if Disney will make a Cranium Command horror movie. As sad at it is but at the same time to be honest, it’s really unsettling and creepy to see Buzzy in the dark… it gives me that chilling feeling that ur being watched. The setting is perfect for a horror film. Buzzy would be the animatronic that would hunt you down if you enter not just Cranium Commend, but the Wonders of Life building as a whole. Disney, if u find Buzzy, PLZ use him as a prop for a horror movie. We need one! #findbuzzy

    Man, feels really really weird watching this. I was at Disney back when the Wonders of Life was still a thing, and 14 years later, the same machinery that was used to entertain thousands of people rests in a decrepit theatre. Granted, I didn’t see too much of the exhibits, I was pretty freaked out about organs and stuff as a kid.

    • @TheInflicted
      @TheInflicted 7 лет назад +4

      Possibly. There appears to be a large thermometer or barometer mounted on the back wall of it, but I can't make any sense of the rounded elements on the floor. Shock absorbers? I might think they were rollers but they're not pointed the right way.

    • @TreadwellJay
      @TreadwellJay 7 лет назад +6

      I'm curious myself. The spools seem to be the right width for 35mm film, but why it would need to loop all around like that I have no idea. Also at first I thought those two rooms were projection booths for the left and right eyes of Cranium Command, but they are at least 20 feet back from the set with nothing but girders and such in between, and are spaced too far apart. Was there a prior use of the theater before Cranium Command? It's the "newest" building in Future World (apart from Mission: Space), so I had thought CC would have been the first thing in the space.
      I'm thinking they were work spaces used to repair and clean ride films and weren't directly part of the operation of CC. The booths would clean the film in a climate-controlled and dust-free environment (note the gauge on the wall and the air hose coming out). The papers taped to the wall read "FILM LAYOUT" and I can make out "Making of Me" (obviously not shown in the CC theater) and "CRANIUM COMMAND: FREEDOM", which I assume is the preshow film, the screen for which, again, is quite far away.
      The papers seem to guide what the leaders of the reels should look like, and how to put them together at the right lengths if repairs are needed. During cleaning they might have needed to add additional leader to get through the booth, and thus they would need to make sure it was restored to its previous length before reinstalling, lest one of the screens be out of synch in the attraction.
      If so, it's neat that they had the gear set up right there, rather than having to cart the film off to some other area of the property to work on it.
      But the projectors (?) are labeled 5 and 6, and I doubt there would be need for that many cleaning rooms, so maybe the rollers are just for keeping the film going in a loop without having to rewind. But again, projecting to where? The empty space behind the CC stage? So baffling.

      @FilmThePoliceFTP 4 года назад +1

      No buzzy at least has been stolen

    • @flexwoodmac
      @flexwoodmac 4 года назад +2

      The way the two were removed looks like they were sent to the archives. Hypothalamus + the little box that had his “voice” shown on it were both removed and tbh someone with experience would most likely have had to been able to remove him + the “voice box” without leaving much damage behind. As for Buzzy, not just Buzzy himself but also his chair + controls are missing which leads me to believe Disney may have just quickly dismantled him + his chair after his clothing was stolen to avoid anymore items being stolen from the attraction, which may be why the leftover wiring/tubing looks so carelessly cut. It would also have been extremely hard for an average person to steal not only Buzzy, but also his entire chair set up without being noticed or leaving a trace.
      I’m not 100% sure thought because it’s just what I assume from looking at the pictures of the aftermath, but I really hope they weren’t stolen.
