    Your small bowl broke because the clay was on the outside and it shrinks and cracks if the mold isn't pliable.

      Yes quite possibly but also rolled it too thin

    That did not look like sand to me, it looked like potting soil. Real sand might be better.

    • @OurUpcycledLife
      @OurUpcycledLife  9 месяцев назад

      It was quite a grainy sand. The recipe is not perfect. If I’m going to make it again I certainly would do a few tweaks to it the first thing being adding some PVA glue.

    I loved the way it looked wet. Sad that it dried so light colored. I wonder how well it will last? Do you think it will break easily?

    • @OurUpcycledLife
      @OurUpcycledLife  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it did dry quite light. If not too thin is is durable but not like a polymer or air dry clay

    Just mix up some paper mache…it has proper amounts and ingredients….I’ve added sand to it also . Therefore I would think you could add salt or coffee grounds also.
    I used my concoction to do a round wall in a new, high dollar home to be featured in the Oklahoma Parade of Homes… Builders showcase there homes and always looking for something to standout..

    If it didn't dry so light, it would make a cute rock garden, or fake soil to put artificial plants in. I wonder if adding black paint or food coloring would keep it dark. I loved the look of it when it was still wet. Love your videos by the way.

      I've seen just coffee grounds and glue used to make fake soil. It's a bit messy, but the result looks good because you just use the regular school glue that dries kinda clear. Looks good for the top of an indoor pot. You just mix some glue and coffee and apply it to the top of your floral foam. It actually dries pretty hard and non messy, but it can get slightly messy making it, lol.

    The one that cracked and fell apart probably had more to do with the clay shrinking. It dried and shrank around something with a smaller diameter.

    You need a binding agent so as some have recommended plaster of Paris but I would go with Elmer's glue. So substitute the water with Elmer's glue and I think you will be able to roll it out thinner without breakage.

      PVA glue, or polyvinyl acetate glue, is a type of adhesive commonly used in arts and crafts. It's known for its versatility, bonding various materials like paper, wood, and fabric. Example is Elmer’s glue
