Try this
Go to view -> Options -> Change folder and search options -> view (header) -> uncheck "hide protected operating system files (recommended)"
Folder named "Control Panel ......(something)" will appear.
Open it you don't even need password lol

This is only to be used to hide your folder to amateur Windows users only. Actually, it renames the "Locker" folder to "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" and hides it by setting system/hidden attributes to it. The hidden folder can be revealed when a user sets the folder option to be show hidden and system files in Folder Options settings.

Actually can removed the password portion. It is not important as you can always see it using edit.
This is rather more hiding than locking.
My video shows how it can all be separated. In other words, you can use attrib +h +s to hide the folder containing the files that hold the password. Yes, it can still be accessed, but only if the person trying to access it knows how to use attrib.
Good...But found 2 loop holes...:(
1) Anyone can edit the file and find password
2) Actually the folder is not being hidden, Under View tab, if you 'ticked' hidden items, anyone can see the folder(folder name will be something different)
Thank you for your valuable feedback and giving the loop holes. You are right any one can edit file and see the password, but there is a catch most people don't dare to .batch files thinks that is a system file.
Just Use folder options to stop showing hidden items.

It really works... but everyone can "break" password soo easy:
Right click on Folder (in this case MyFolder.bat) -> Open with notepad -> and that's it.... he can see your password / change it...
soo... much better way is to ZIP folder and lock it..

you can just open the batch file in text editor then the password can be seen. But the lock can be effective for those who do not know that.
It does not protect your folder as pass can be easily seen! When you have name.bat file (Locked). Select and on top of the window press view and the preview pane and all text appears with your pass that you typed in.
the problem with this is that you can easily see the code and the password set for this .bat file simply by turning it back into .txt file, if you want true security you should download batch compiler ( I used this one ) sourceforge.net/projects/batch-compiler/ and compile it into a language the computer can understand, but is unreadable to people
note: the file you will use after compiling will end with .exe and not .bat

What if someone deletes the .bat file? Does the hidden folder gets deleted aswell?
If someone edit that file then he can see Ur password. So not that much secure.
@@ashaninimesha4827 run the script and open inside the folder in shell nd there you will be able to see your password ( if you can write a script ) otherwise you can just look from administration
when you mark the hidden items from your folder option, you will see the hidden folder named Control Panel.{.........} where all those files can be easily open even without password. What is the benefit?... Actually this process is just long hiding process only.

How idiotic it is to have to do all this just to lock a folder. Why can't it just be an option when you right click without doing all this absurd, primitive, time wasting maneuver? Too complicated for Microsoft? Or, perhaps, too thoughtless!!!!
+Mnz “mnz145” Castel yes actually Microsoft need to think about this issue in the later windows 10 updates. They given the option "Bitlocker" but that is for the whole drive need the same type of encryption for folders and files also.

If you have WinRAR, it is way more simple.
1. Right click on the file you wish to protect with a password
2. Click "Add to archive..."
3. Set the archive's name to any name you desire. (optional)
4. Select "Set password..." and put in any password you want. Then press "Ok".
4/5. While on the "Enter password" window, you can check the "Encrypt file names." box.
6. Don't forget to check the "Delete files after archiving" box. (Because it doesn't really lock that file you selected, instead it creates a password-protected WinRAR file, with a copy of your chosen file inside. The original file will remain unprotected where you left it, and checking this box will delete it, leaving only its password-protected copy.)
This process is a lot simpler then the video's.
But, only if you don't want to install WinRAR (Which most people do, because it is a very useful program) will you actually have to go through that process. Plus, WinRAR actually locks your files with a password. The process shown in this video doesn't even lock the file. It only hides it. There are many ways to find it, and if you find it, you can open it without the password.

All the information is in that batch file to get access to this folder. best to use a 3rd party app or learn how to encrypt the folder properly.

Pls help i move my bat file to a hard drive. BUT when i'm trying to open it again with the password i provided. it is open with the folder name SECURE but unfortunately i couldn't find any file in bat folder it just came out the folder name SECURE and if i'm clicking that secure folder it says EMPTY, so where is my file goes?
