My favorite level for 3 reasons: The music. The gimmick of wing riding It was a relatively easy level and was thus a relief from the more difficult Metropolis Zone and a calm before the storm of the Sky Fortress zone.
Memories i was a freshman in high school in late 1992 when sonic 2 was released besides playing the game i would listen to the stage music in the options menu this was one of my favorite tracks in the game....

Was humming all of the Sonic 2 OST at work and was mad at myself that this was the only song I couldn't remember. so I start this vid and by the 4th note, my brain unlocked the memory of the entire song. I fast forwarded the whole song in my head. CLASSIC.

I remember being angry because I couldn't remember Holland's pre-match melody on Nintendo World Cup, then after watching an All Melodies video, Holland's pre-match melody didn't only stayed in my mind, but my mind also replaced Argentina's pre-match melody with Holland's! And I thought Argentina's melody was like this until I watched the All Melodies video again and I realized I was wrong, but eventually I re-learned it. If you ask me about the full OST, I can't really sing the 3rd Match music of the game. Even though I THOUGHT I could sing it before, I was just mashing up the first part with Technos Cup theme for the second (the Technos Cup theme is from a game called Kunio Kun's Nekketu Soccer League, the sequel of the japanese version of Nintendo World Cup). I only realized I was wrong when I re-watched a video about that music.

I think this was the first truly beautiful song I ever heard as a kid. I was 4, maybe 5 years old and I would spend what felt like hours listening to this song in the sound test/level select menus. 25 years later, I'm still in love with it ❤️
Every time I take off from an airport, as soon as wheels go up I play this song! This song plus heading into the sky is a beautiful relaxing moment for me.
Such a perfect song for the stage, really mellows you out after the hell that is Metropolis, and it's a nice breather before the endgame. I also love how Mirage Saloon act 1 in Mania remixed a part of this song.

I've played hundreds of games since the original Sonic trilogy on the MegaDrive/Genesis, and yet almost none of them have music as great as this. Those Japanese folk who composed the soundtrack were nothing short of genius. And the games were pretty entertaining, too.

Its great seeing all these people from around the world speaking of the very same memories I have for this game. 16-bit Sonic has a magic Mario just can't replicate.

this song gave me the chills...... i remember getting to this level with my brother dodging everything while on that pixelated plane.....makes me wont to cry.
This level was pure eye candy, especially when you encounter the Wing Fortress.
