“La Llorona” is a Mexican folk song, composed in the 19th century, only a short part of which is featured in the movie.
The title “la llorona” (“the weeping/crying/mourning woman”) refers to a Latin American legend of pre-Columbian origins which was later embraced by the Spanish colonizing culture. The legend deals with the spirit of a woman (a ghost, demon or goddess, depending on the tradition) who could be heard crying and mourning in the night. For more information: en.wikipedia.o...
Now, I would ask to all of you who understand Spanish to help me improve the subtitles, so to increase the number of translations available for this video.
Requirements:
I need you to understand Spanish, do not translate through the English translation and do not use Google Translate and what not, please.
I need you also to translate title and the description above (substituting the part saying “More languages in the subtitles” with “Turn on subtitles for the [insert name of the language your translating in] translation!”.
I will be extremely thankful to anybody who will help me with this project.

*MULTILINGUAL TRANSLATIONS NEEDED!*
*- Do you understand Spanish?* Then a translation of the Spanish lyrics into any language is warmly welcome! Please, *do not* translate from other translations, add more subtitles only if you can understand Spanish yourself. *Google Translate is categorically forbidden.* Any translation found to have been translated by a machine will be unpublished.
*- Is your language already present in the subtitles?* Double-checks on already published translations can be rather useful. We are all human and mistakes are possible, so you may help improve the translations already published, if needed.
*- Do you only understand English, not Spanish?* No problem, there’s room for this too. While there’s nothing you can do for the subtitles, you may still want to translate *title and description* into your language. Titles and descriptions must be translated as follows:
1. *Title:*
- Movie title: keep “Coco” if that’s your case or change it if that’s how it’s known in your language _[e.g. Korean: 코코 // Brazilian Portuguese: Viva - A Vida é Uma Festa // Japanese: リメンバー・ミー]._
- Song title: for the most part “la Llorona” will be fine. If the song is known through another form in your language, use that translation.
- “lyrics and translation”: translate it directly if that form works best in your language, otherwise translate it the way that feels most natural to you [e.g. Polskie napisy (“Polish subtitles”) // 한국어 번역 (“Korean translation”)]
2. *Description:*
- Turn on subtitles for the _[insert name of your language here]_ translation

If you wish to help, please let me know!
I did the Spanish to Esperanto translation (fluent in English, Spanish and Esperanto ). I just wanted to note one little thing. I didn't try to translate Llorona, since there is no fitting word/name. I just respelled it to Jorona to fit Esperanto pronunciation rules. I hope I did good in translations and I'm happy to help your mission. :D
It's a good decision, imo. Neither I did translate that term to English, Italian, French nor Swedish, not for lack of any adequate word but because of the cultural background behind that term, which I specified in the desroption.
Thank you very much for your help, I want you to know I really appreciate it. May I ask if you could also provide a translation of the description, please? It would be good to have a complete translation set of subtitles, title and description ^-^
There go! Now you have the Esperanto description too! Sorry it took me so long to reply to your request for the description, I honestly just forgot about it.
@@carolynthomas3938 thank you very much for your contributions! And forgive my late reply, YT notifications work horribly and after having notified the first few comments under the same trade they will just stop notifying...

His voice cool but evil
You can actually hear the difference between the emotions used when Imelda and Hector sing versus when Ernesto sings. Imelda and Hector sing with a tenderness in their voice, which is expected, as they sang to each other and to Coco most of the time. They sing with this sweet love I can't get over. Ernesto sings with this grand, big, boasty voice that sounds cocky and proud, which fits his egotistical personality. The music in this movie is absolutely incredible!
Trinity Esquivel Ohhhhh, yeah. It’s marvelous. Beautiful.
Agreed.
very well put. Impressive observations.
Or you’re just looking to much into this
@@myles5096 No actually it's true. If you've seen Hispanic singers it shows lol... He had to make his voice louder than her own so that he would shine. Also that's what makes people awesome is looking to much into it... because it gives people a chance to chat and explore more.
Pixar really shined with this film. I hope they can make more amazing original movies like this one.
Its actually PRETTY familiar with the animation "The Book of Life" and it was a good movie. But you know, big budget, big commercials and trailers, so many fans, of course Disney is the winner of the day.

Can we talk about how she looks at Hector when she said that?
Man, how much more powerful the film is when you understand the lines she's saying. I really appreciate that they didn't add subtitles. That this was an intimate song between them and their culture that they understand.
Yes.
The Latiator but ernesto sing it loudly to imelda lol
Sangtei sangi he was singing to the crowd.... not Imelda
Peter Montgomery i know that he sing for the people and imelda to make the crowd happy
So many things I love about this scene alone. Hector’s face when she starts singing (I mean come on, they obviously sang that song together before), the security guards trying (and failing) to grab her, the fact that when she sings “I won’t stop loving you” as she gives Hector that look (she never did stop loving him), “Let go of me!”, and Ernesto’s scream when she stomped on his foot...one of the best scenes in the movie TBH.
I like how when she says “Let go of me!” Ernesto actually puts her down. He may be a terrible person, but he has a smidge of an idea on how to treat a person. just a smidge tho.
@@lord_ozymandias actually i think he put her down just because keeping her in the air at arms lenght wouldn't look good. His fan's apreciation comes first
Janeil Nold don’t forget the two girls who were shocked lmao
I get the feeling that this was a song that Imelda and Hector loved to perform together and to Coco and I bet when Hector heard her sing it the first time is when he fell in love with her. I would have loved to hear them sing it together.
Dont forget the face of Hector when Ernesto grabbed Imelda
Even tho i hate Ernesto, his singing is amazing
Lol...it's true
So true
True
True but he’s way too sexy to be a bad guy
Yess
I immediately fell in love with this song and this scene as soon as Imelda started singing. She despised music for decades, but when she accidentally ended up on stage, instead of immediately running towards Hèctor with the photograph, she took the opportunity to break free of her shell. She enthralled a crowd with her voice - the crowd who came for Ernesto no less, made her family's jaws collectively drop. Miguel entices her husband to play for her and he immediately joins in, confusing the orchestra, even confusing Imelda when she heard a guitar coming in over the speakers like "Wait, who's playing for me?"
The crowd sits back down to listen, Imelda smiles as she sees its her husband she once hated playing the accompanying guitar, he makes a short little nod saying "Go for it!" she says to him "I'll never stop loving you", the conductor and the stage-light handler decide to *help her along*, an unrehearsed, unplanned "guest appearance" and she just steals the show so fast that Ernesto and his security detail couldn't stop her, and she looked like she was having a blast!
All in 2 minutes, aauuugh! Pixar, this is why people love you!
I immediately fell in love with the original song a few years ago after searching for it when watching an RL Stine’s The Haunting Hour about the Weeping Woman. Then got shellshocked by hearing it in this movie while watching it.
I RLLY LOVE THIS SCENE ITS MY FAVORITE ICONIC MUSICAL PART OF THE MOVIE AND THE SONG ITS MY FAVORITE SONG
It also disney movie :)
Same. My pupils are watching the movie and they're going to sing "La llorona". So beautiful !
I’m french and mexican
I want to say only two things.
1: Ernesto's voice. I hate him, but his voice is just...
2: The way she looked at Hector while saying "I won't stop loving you" melted my heart.
Ill be the one to say it but his voice is beautiful and if a man with a voice like that sang to me id marry him in a heartbeat
BRO I THOUGHT THE SAME IN ONE MY BROTHER
I know! Number 2 is more beautiful than even Ernesto's singing, which is saying something!
I always feel like this perfectly encapsulates what makes Hector so terrifying as a villain. He thinks fast and adapts to what makes the public see him as the hero. And he does it so well that everyone was clapping for him as he ripped the letter away from Imelda.
Heck, even when he lost there he still managed to turn it into the mariachi yell to make sure no one knew the Riveras were in danger.
Dude, the villain is named Ernesto, the guy playing the guitar with Miguel is Hector.
Hector is the husband, Ernesto is the villain
@@lifewiththatonepreppy,

Translation: La Llorona: the weeping woman
In this case its crybaby. La Llorona is the urban legend translated to the weeping woman
Abigail None of your business no it’s not. While it doesn’t directly refer to the urban legend, it still speaks of a weeping woman. Crybaby has a completely different connotation that is simply not present in the song.
Abner Anaya I speak Spanish too and Abigail is right. It depends on the context as well. In the case of this song it means cry baby but it sayings it towards a female since the word is feminine. La Llorona does mean The Weeping Women but in this context they aren’t referring to the urban legend. If you listen to the song carefully than you’ll understand that in the song context, to put it short “cry baby female” or the long away, a female who is a cry baby. If you don’t speak fully Spanish than it’s fine.
Bad Vibes Foreva lol yea
@@sewaprolo If you do use the cry baby translation, you can interpret the song that both Ernesto and Imelda are singing it about Hector.
When he spins her around at 1:20, and makes her land on his chest and does this cha-cha dance with her, he's so freaking smooth Jesus Christ.
Though he's a murderer, I will appreciate how slick he his with his movements. He's got a enchanting voice too.

Snippets of this song is played throughout the entire movie! For example, when the mariachi is strumming his guitar, he plays a few notes of this. It can also be heard by the drunken men in the introduction, who are singing a bit of this song right before Miguel's grandmother chases them off. It took me awhile to hear it, but next time you see *Coco*, try to find these little bits of the song!

EDIT: For the love of god it's been two years and I have been corrected for hundreds of times already, I NOW KNOW THIS SONG HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MYTH.
La Llorona is actually a ghost story/urban legend from Latin America. Long story short, it's about a woman who drowns her children in an aftermath of a loveless marriage. After realizing what she has done, she also jumps in the river.
Her ghost can be seen wandering along rivers, looking for her children and causing misfortune for those who see her.
Fandomroska mi mama used to tell me stories of her when i used to play with my sister by the river she used to scare me so much 😂🤭♥️
Is it the weeping woman? Like the Mexican urban legend? They sound similar
Yes it could be La Llorona the weeping woman or maybe just a song ❤️

Man, the way Ernesto looks at Imelda when he grabs her arm... "Gotcha".... Hoo man...Such a tiny detail that's so true to his character
There’s a lot of tiny details in the movie I’ve noticed, like the scene where Miguel says he might play Remember Me, Hectors face changes really quickly before saying that it’s too popular.
I bet he had his eye on her when they were alive but she wasn't interested
Oh, AND THEN he hams it up so much at the end that Imelda is able to get it back. All because of his pride.
Alá Littlefinger & Catelyn Stark! If Imelda didn't put up the music ban, Ernesto may well have made Coco's life a living hell, like what Littlefinger did to Sansa.

Same dude. I am obsessed with this song and my best friend his grandmother is Mexican
TheCheck7 ALAS ALAS
Always felt this song had two meanings for the two incidental performers. For her, it’s realizing that he’d never stopped chasing for his family’s love, even if he felt too ashamed to see her once she’d made it to the afterlife. And that she should never stop chasing the love for her family, All of her family, including the love of music she’d cut away. For Ernesto, however, Llorona isn’t a person. She’s fame. He can never stop chasing fame, which you can see. Even when he’s struggling to get the evidence from her he can’t help but make a show of it and smile at the audience.
I didn't see it like that,I just though he was singing and smiling at the audience so they don't see what is actually happening, but yeah,it's probably also because of his ego.

@@NONIMNO what do you want 😂
That may be true. But he glt famous for his songs.
A lot of people can have good voices.
There's something wonderful ironic about the staging of this song: In this version, Hector has the part of La Llorona, having metaphorically "drowned" / abandoned his own child and only live to regret it, then spending the afterlife looking for Coco. The song however is sung by Llorona's lover (maybe her husband, don't know) that just wants her back, despite what she's done and how unhappy their parting was.
Fermin Tenava Wow...I love that interpretation. Possibly even making me love this scene even more
Both of them are singing about Hector, who they considered to be a cry baby (a different take on la llorona). Now re-listen to the song with that in mind… then re-listen to "Un Poco Loco" knowing that Hector wrote it for Imelda.
But Hector didn't abandon his family he was murdered. He was heading home and then Ernesto killed him.
Eh... no, this song is not about that legend, is about another llorona, is a love story about a man that went to war and a woman that waited her whole life to get reunited with him.

You know what I had come to realize? The singing battle between Imelda and Ernesto was a bit deeper than you think. Of course they are fighting over the picture of Hector, if you think about it, whoever got the picture in the end would determine Hector's future. Like the picture is Hector himself. If Ernesto got it, it would mean death, if Imelda got it, it would mean life. I guess you can say it's a fight of life or death. Death is trying to be cunning and charming, but Life sees the lies.

@Orion I know that everyone has their own opinion, but how can you hate Miguel? He is such a sweetheart, and he IS NOT ruining the movie, NOBODY IS, it would be MUCH different if Hector or Imelda were the "main character" but NOT BETTER because it will be from a different point of view and you will not be introduced to both worlds since Hector and Imelda are dead and already in the afterlife and it's not like they have made this movie for skeletons, but for people. Disney and Pixar are introducing US to the other world NOT the other way around. We already know this world, not that one. And from Miguel's point of view we see what a child would see, and both Disney and Pixar are making movies not just for kids but for adults to feel like kids again
I started crying when Chich died (the man who Hector borrows the guitar). Then I knew I needed a swimming pool to fill with my tears
@Orion I'm glad that you support my opinion and now that i see why you don't like him that much I can't really say anything about it besides that he is a kid, which doesn't, of course, give him the ability to do whatever he wants but that's just how kids think sometimes
"Como el pino era tierno, llorona, al ver me llorar, lloraba (Because the pine was tender, to see me cry, it cried)" Something was left out of this (an understandable thing).
"Tierno" means soft but it also can mean kindness, affectionate, etc. You can basically think they were singing about the tree being kind of heart so that's why it cried with her and humanized the tree. But it also can describe the softness of the wood, or maybe that it drooped to make it show like it was crying, like a willow.
I love that she's singing "I'll never stop loving you" when she's looking at Hector and her family, my heart

This song is so beautiful!!! Their voices sync together and the song has such a beautiful meaning behind it. I've been listing to it for hours who else? The song starts out soft but then mama emelda just blows you away❤️You go Mama Emelda
Anyone else getting vibes threw their body when Ernesto hits those high notes.? 💓🔥👌🏽
1:06 - 1:35
Not letting your crush go anywere😂

WHY YOU BULLY ME IMELDA?!? !? !
-Ernesto de la cruz
I honestly love this part so much...My nana passed away in 2016 and Mama Imelda reminds me so much of her and I can't help but think of her when I watch this video...it gives me a rush of emotions when I see this video. Such a beautiful movie and song.
I version of the Llorona story I was told was essentially she killed her husband. Then she killed her three kids. When she died, God told her she couldn’t go to heaven until she found her kids. If you are a kid, you better not be seen by her or she’ll take you.
And my father told my sister and I that if we misbehaved, she would take us away. So whenever we vacationed in Mexico I was scared out my mind. However I always assumed I was safe in here in the USA. Like “Haha there’s no way she’ll cross the border haha.”
Rainpooper Ikr.
I used to have trouble sleeping in Acapulco after my cousins told me I could find her down by a nearby river.
She didn’t kill her husband
Her husband cheated on her and she killed her 2 kids and herself
Pillows Are Cool I think that is a legeng made in order to avoid that children could play near rivers alone which is a true danger .
Actually her husband cheated on her the part about her killing him isn't true the rest was though and I'm pretty sure this is a true story some women have had a horrible life that slowly drove them insane enough to kill so it might mean that the story of her is true
Pillows Are Cool thats why this song confused me lol
She is saying I won't stop loving you and she is looking to hector it is so beautiful
Hector just in awe hearing his wife singing after so many years
I just realized something
@ 1:05 When De la Cruz grabs her hand hectors jaw drops, lol.
Lol just noticed! XD
He stops playing the guitar as well.
Oh mah gawd I just saw that :'O
When I read this comment I got my magnifying glass and I looked and I was like you say what now.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He was like “ Did he just grab my woman’s hand”
While I love the whole movie, this scene is one of my favorites. The thought of what is going on here is actually kinda creepy. The level of desperation from both parties. Him to save face, and her to save her family. Not to mention that she knows what he did and what type of man he is, all the while he is parading her across the stage like a puppet as she struggles to escape. I don't know, maybe just me, but the level of how disturbing this scene is when you think about it (while you can't help but love the music and "show") makes it the best scene in my opinion.
Right . She was not one of his groupies lmfaoo and he was a playa player . Literally the Mexican Elvis
I love this song so much. It shows that Imelda still loves Hector and it really was a great movie
This song gives me chills every single time I listen to it. Hauntingly beautiful
All the music in Coco is just magical. Dafinitely one of the best Pixar movies in recent years
1:23 those smooth moves though! Dang Ernesto!!!
Guys had practice lol
@@DTux5249 This scene gives me Disney On Ice vibes
@@sweetk125 omg you're actually right
I like to think she's singing this song to Hector as a way of welcoming him back into her life: "...even though it could cost my life...I won't stop loving you." :)
Best part of this song is how the audience and orchestra are first confused, but when they hear how beautiful Imelda's voice is they just go along and enjoy it.
dude.....I cant stop replaying...this is my favorite song in the movie..
When she said “I won’t stop loving you” while look at hector with the biggest smile on her face was just so CUTE ^u^
This movie really touched my heart. And I love songs like this. I'm korean but my dad played songs like Besame mucho and donde voy when I was young so I have a soft spot for spanish and Latin American music. I hope pixar can expand and explore every cultures beautiful music. Pop songs are fun but man. Old time songs are just so beautiful. Wish they would release a korean movie with Trot music or traditional korean songs
This movie and mainly the plot and songs make me feel nostalgic, it twist and turns my stomach in a good way, and just flat out makes me feel good! 😀😍
Or well not the plot but like the characters and sturffs like that
I love how much energy she puts into her singing ! Loving the accents and how smooth Ernesto's voice is at the end . ESPECIALLY since the one singing it is the main character from blood in, blood out , heart eyes forever
I love how everyone goes nuts when Ernesto gets stomped on 🤣
Now THAT’S how you do a chase scene!
even tho im not mexican i LOVE THE CULTURE AND I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH
:)
Same
As half Mexican, I gotta say, this is one of the best Mexican songs I’ve ever heard. Definitely on my top 10 list
She is a GREAT singer! :3
Addison Playz Roblox :3 it isn't the rea voice, is altered. The originalis more beautifull
I tried to sing it in English but it slowly transformed into me singing it in Spanish.
[Edit] oh wow... uh 200 likes.. that that's a lot of people. Thank you so much TvT
FoxTaterTot124 same

yep same here
Yep me too
Now that I know what the translation for this song, it is so sweet to see how Imelda looks at Hector when she says "I won't stop loving you" SO CUTE
There are many versions of the legend, but this is a popular one in Guatemala:
A woman who had a wealthy husband suddenly found herself having a romance with a handsome but poor man when her husband went on a trip. However, much to her dismay, she got pregnant from her lover and had to hide in her house. Finally she gave birth, only to receive a letter that her husband would be home in two weeks. Desperate, she took her newborn child and drowned him in Pensativo river. Then, filled with shame, drowned herself. The legend says that you will hear her around bodies of water crying “my children! My children!” Also, if you hear her cries nearby she is far away and vice versa. The only way for her not to take your soul is to wear your underwear inside out.
As a Guatemalan I can say that I've never heard of the underwear part lol
And there's so may variation of the story that no one has the same purposes for the llorona to kill their children
My grandpa used to say that it was because her husband died and couldn't afford food for them
In other versions the husband is the one drowning the llorona and so the variations go on like that lol
This account is sketchy ik
I only have little knowledge of the weeping woman from an episode of The haunting hour I watched lol
This account is sketchy IS IT TRUE?!
This account is sketchy
I heard that the husban found another beautiful women. And thats why she killed her children.
His hip movements....
These hip movements is why my future bf or husband needs to know how to dance 😏😂😂
ikr. but for me, they also have to not mind the way I dance. I go crazy when I dance 😂
Very smexy
That moment when your future husband is Dame Tu Cosita.
Though I hate to admit it, I love Ernesto Dela Cruz’s voice.
She. Loves. Music just. Like. Migel
Emily Evans when coco remembers hector, she say that her mom and dad used to sing to her, so I think she blamed hectors music career for his disappearance

MTAEO
Emily Evans
But in German she says she loved music!
UGH I CAN'T STOP WATCHING THESE MOMENT!!
I can't just begin to express how much I love this song, remember me and this movie. Always end up tearing at the end.
The difference between this and the Spanish version is subtle yet powerful but Both are SO. DARN. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
I've just searched La Llorona out of curiosity, when the page finally done loading the first picture I saw made me delete the whole tab immediately (scarred me for days)
9 NightWolf You fool! You tempted me to look it up too and now I’m scared shitless. There is literally no shit left within me. Guess I don’t have to worry about being constipated, cause now I AM SCARED SHITLESS!
You guys are American aren't you?
9 NightWolf are you referring to the ghost story or this song?
Sorry for not warning y’all sooner xD
9 NightWolf you are looking at it the wrong way then xD
American boy: the voice of Imelda and Ernesto are impressive.
Latin boy: in Latin it is better
There’s no one left on earth that speaks Latin as a first language, I think you mean the Romance languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, etc.)
@@Natureguy-le8pl no, he means people from latin america :)
@@mmaea95 The way he wrote it suggests that "Latin" is better, speaking of the language, not the region :)
Si, Angelica Vale y Marco Antonio Solís son los que cantan, como no jaja, si cantantes y saben darle la tonada de México
Me: *gets a note from crush*
Me: I should go talk to him
Friends: what is that note?
