Wow! A little itty bitty turtle that travelled all the way to the Arms Family Homestead from Chicago!!! That must have taken him weeks to get there with those tiny legs! Houston’s face was soooo sweet! Dad if you ever wonder if you are doing a good job being a father that neon smiling sign on Houston’s face should reassure you that you are not only being a good father you are being an Excellent father! 🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦
Did they tell you the UVA UVB light is for the natural sunlight helps with the bones and calcium and it needs to be exchanged every 6 months even though it may still work? Very important for an animals health
My twin boys found one of these when they were 7 in a pond in Northern Minnesota. They raised it for 10 years. It got so big we had to get a 100 gallon tank for it. We fed it tadpole and leaf veggies when it was little along with the pellets. In winter one a week it would get a few minnows from the local gas station bait store. As it grew he got feeder gold fish and minnow. It is important to have the lights on a minimum of 10 hours summer and 8 hours winter. It helps them digest their food and dries the shell so that they don't get shell rot. Just before we moved back to California my boys took it back to where they found him and set him free. Good luck Huston!
Oooo that little turtle is handsome he may get pretty big my momma has one kinda like that an he is huge lol can't wait to see more vids of the turtle well you know here an there
I have been watching your channel for about a year now. Houston has grown up so much. So proud of him. You and Deejay have done an amazing job with all 3 of your children. God bless you richly in all your endeavors. 🙏🙏💞💞
That little turtle will blow ur mind with how steep and high they can climb the water depth is fine I've had dozens of turtles great video keep up the good work
Houston, i never thought much about turtles. They are slow, mostly hide their heads and just do their own thing. That was until i was working as an aged care nurse and came across a patient that had his turtles in his room in a tank like you have. I noticed when the gentleman came in his room and called his turtles they came closer to the glass and looked at him. Those turtles knew their names and moved around the tank to where this man was sitting. Those turtles had become "family" to the gentleman. Just like a dog or cat. So Houston, never let anyone tell you that turtles are dumb, they are not.
Hey Houston, congratulations on getting your first tank. Been into aquariums for over 50 years. Adding live plants will add to the decor of your tank and possible food for your turtle. I suggest that as you know, your turtle is a little small and wont be able to climb that much. Go down to the creek and find some smaller rocks to make a place for him to rest. Minnows carry a disease so I suggest a few what they call Rosy Reds (feeder fish) to add to the tank for live food for the turtle. Turtles like a variety of food. Enjoy your tank and keep on with aquariums and terrariums.
Daniel, I just love the relationship between you and Houston. Houston, you giggling at the end, after knocking the camera out of your dad's hand, was awesome. Love your family. ❤️
That turtle is adorably cute! Made me 🤣🤣 at the end! Reminds me of some turtles my brothers & I had when we were younger...they were about the same size as this one but not nearly as decorative.
Awwww that’s amazing guys Houston ur one lucky little boy guys I believe every kid should have a baby turtle they make such awesome pets I’m lovin that tank can’t wait to see more updates on it and that new pond u r gettin I’m so very glad Greg is doin it for u :)
Freedom could have gotten a stone bruise on the frog of her foot by stepping on a sharp stone. You should have used both bags of rocks. It not only will help hold down the plastic plants but it will also give a better base/filter for food and other things that the filter doesn't pick up. Also they need deeper water than some people realize. As long as they have a platform to get out of the water to bask. So don't worry that you have it too deep. Most people forget the difference between a land turtle (Tortoise) and a water Turtle. You're a lucky kid, Houston. I Use to work in that Pet Product Industry
Don't forget UVB bulbs have to be replaced about every 6 months whether or not they burn out. It's important so your turtle doesn't get metabolic bone disease. Sunlight gives UVB and the tortoise needs it as well. If you look it up you'll see what will happen
We got 2 Red Ear Turtles about the same size as Houstin's, they grew to about 8 " in diameter, their names were Ren and Stempi Have fun with your Turtle Houstin!
Houston you are lucky to have this my turtle stayed in a box for a long time on the porch Moma won't let me have it in the house Larry and I would go walking outside sometimes!!!
Watched a couple of your videos on your cousin's recommendation. Met Houston for the first time in this video. WOW, that boy has a TON of personality and poise. What a neat kid! Subscribed.
Hello Arms Family. Daniel is pretty cool that is always Father and son things to do I enjoy the videos and putting that turtle tank together pretty cool I've had many snake terrariums put together our lizards for rooms all kinds of crazy stuff for my children got them chickens hanging raise them chickens up had eggs everyday good breakfast. Sometimes it hatch the eggs nobody else had a large garden in the backyard with more of my project but the kids did enjoy coming out and collecting the vegetables with me. They're pretty good size eggs Houston. Say hi to the girls for me and as always stay safe have fun enjoy yourself keep everybody going and happy and may God bless you and your family. ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
Hey Houston, I just had to log in to comment after watching this on the big screen. I hope you know the commitment some of those turtles can be. I have an orange necked turtle, like the other one you have, named Dude. He was about the size of a 50 cent piece when I got him and he's lived in a 20 gallon tank since he outgrew the little plastic turtle tank he started in. I got him in 1980 which makes him about 42 years old now and at 67 I expect that he will outlive me. Now his shell is about 8-10 inches long and I've seen them much bigger than that. He also likes to have his head scratched from time to time (I don't usually try to promote my channel since I do YT mainly for fun but I did a video called "Introducing Dude" 3-4 years ago to show him off, if you are interested). And that land tortoise you got recently can easily live 100 years or more. So stand by my friend!
Houston what a really cool turtle. He's liven good nice set up. Freedom may of picked a rock up or as you said slept on her leg. God Bless and Peace from WV
Houston is like that girl on another website. She knows EVERYTHING about chickens and Houston knows more about turtles, frogs, fish and the BEST "hoop net" thrower I've ever seen! Keep it up!
Houston you are one lucky boy, turtles at that age love live bait, that helps to keep them healthy. How is your tortoise doing. Your turtle looks like what we call here in Canada painted turtles. I feed my babies with live insects and tiny fish. Minnows.
Hi Huston your really growing up fast. You are really doing a good job on these videos. Love following you guy’s find it very interesting. Take care. 🇨🇦
It won't be long before Houston will have his own channel just about his fish and reptiles! Again, have him check out Kamp Kenan here on RUclips. He has all kinds of turtles and tortoises. He has several Aquascape ponds too. It would be a great place for Houston to learn.
The best way to preclean your substrate is to use an old window screen. Prop up the screen between something that holds it securely (I would put it across the bathtub) and then run water all over it until the water runs clear. I used to raise African chilids and had 32 tanks from 1/2 gal for new babies all the way up to my 220 gal show tank.
Hey Houston!!! You should put some of the cool rocks that you tumbled and polished in there!!! They would look really cool. You could find a really cool piece of drift wood in there that he can climb up on.
Awesome it finally arrived! Great looking too
Yeah Houston was sure happy.

It is good that he start so early
He was a doll! I love the turtle.
You have to turn off the light at night so the water cools down and the turtle doesn’t cook

Hi Huston your really growing up fast. You are really doing a good job on these videos. Love following you guy’s find it very interesting. Take care. 🇨🇦
Second bag can be used when your cleaning his tank, alternate rock to make sure it's cleaned so it doesn't end up smelling bad
i love tose trutles well done Houston love ya all

You did see he hit the pellets at 14:51 when you put him up there, before he jumped off? Plus, if the filter has any vibration, the pellet can move.
