A few years ago I had $20 left and I needed fuel for my car so on the off chance I bought a $5 scratcher and put the rest in my tank. I won $100 and went back into the gas station to collect. It wasn’t much but it made my day.

My five year old daughter told me to buy a one dollar scratcher. She said “you can pay rent if you buy that one mom”. I thought it seemed weird but she has said weird shit before and been right. I visited my mother in Florida years ago. At the time, the state I was living in didn’t have scratch offs. So the first time my mom and I stopped in a market, I bought five $1 scratchers. I went to her car, scratched, and won $10. I went back in and bought two $5s. My mom got upset, she thought I should have just taken the money. Long story short, I kept winning and buying more tickets. I must have gone in and out about fifteen times. We were there for almost an hour. Ended up winning over $300 on an initial $5 investment.
That was insane. Now I know not to but a whole book!

I watch others play for the same reason I watch police chases. Reminds me I don't want to be in a police chase, or lose to the lottery. My vice of choice is the stock market. Buy low, buy more when it crashes, sell high and collect dividends. Made a little over 50K last year. Had to pay an extra $7100 to the IRS last year for capital gains and dividends. Not complaining. A couple more years and I'll be able to retire if the market is as volatile as it was last year. Buy low. love a good market crash. Sell high. Love a good market bubble and stop loss sales. Love buying low when the P/E is under 5 and the yield on cost is over 20%. For example bought WES last April for $5.42 per share. Bought a few thousand shares. Yield on cost is 22%. increased in value to $21.32 currently. Not as fast as a book of lottery tickets, but still pretty exciting returns.

@@mypeace101 If you are financially challenged, and are buying lottery tickets, you have a gambling problem. Take a statistics class and learn the cost to income ratio of playing the lottery. Lottery is not an investment. On the other hand, I have been investing in the stock market. Due to the market crash last year, I was able to buy some stocks at 80% off. Lottery never has $10 tickets selling for $2. Due to the low cost, I'm enjoying a 22% annual return on investment, and the price is returning, so the stock I bought at $5.42 is at $21.32 this weekend if I sold it. Bought almost 3,000 shares so dividends are over $600/quarter, or 200/month income just to own it, unlike a lottery ticket bought last year. Reference for the stock referenced, it is symbol WES. Look at the price chart for it last year to see my purchase price.

My car needed an alignment badly. It shredded my tires that were a month old , was gonna cost me 300 just to get tires and alignment. Working as a delivery driver I made nothing . That same night I went and sent my last 20 bucks, I got home forget about them in my car . Stressing on what should I do and what I can sell just to be safer on the road. Sunday night came around I did my scratch offs . I’m on a 2 dollar scratch I see a 2x I get excited, I didn’t expect no more then 5 bucks won . I got 200 times 2 . I was able to get my car fixed the next day

When I was 6 my dad's friend gave me a scratcher. I won $250, he bribed me for it. He said "I'll take you to Dairy Queen and let you pick whatever you want for that ticket." and I accepted it. 😅

For example, in San Jose, CA and Fremont, CA (where there are a LOT of VIetnamese people), you always hear in the news about someone winning big there. Thats because Vietnamese people and Asians in general, love to gamble. The more tickets being bought, the higher the chances the non-winning ones get bought up singling out the winner ticket.

I played so much ticket's and not happy with the outcome just yesterday I stopped playing hoping that I stay away from the lotto I played for year's which I regret now that I saw this video proved my point that I will keep my money in the bank I have a better chance in winning interest than losing on these Scratch offs. I use to work at a gas station when I was younger and this guy that lived across the street used to come in and buy the whole book of $20 tickets and after scratching them all he would always end up losing $40-$80 bucks at the end so I guess it's just all about getting that lucking book

@@anthonyvaldez1176 Yea you're right. You can usually win $20 about 1 in 3 times you play. Sometimes you get lucky and win 50 or even 100. The only problem is that you get addicted and start playing more and end up losing overall in the long term. Its usually a 1 in 3 chance of winning anything. SO that means for example, if you spend $300 total playing scratchers usually you win about $100 and lose $200. On average.

THATS almost the only game i play. Once in a while i might buy a non cashword ticket for a quick try. i have won 500 many times on a cahsword. one time i won 500 and 100 together. i went shopping with that money and on the way home stopped for more tickets and won another 500!
When I was active duty still, around 15 years ago I took leave during the holidays. Went to visit my dad in Portland OR. There's a 7-11 near where his house was. I've always been a fan of Bingo scratchers and never played the OR lottery, and they had this really cool one. I bought 20 bucks worth of the 5 dollar bingos. Scratched through them all and didn't catch anything. My sister picks up the tickets, starts looking through them and says you won 1000 bucks! I was like stfu, your crazy. She says no seriously you scratched an X. Sure enough I double checked and I had won 1000 bucks. Luckily the headquarters building is in Salem. So my dad drove me down 35 mins and I got a check for 1000 bucks. Cashed it out took my whole family to dinner, and the rest covered my half of the rent for 2 months, because I lived off base in Jacksonville. My half was 375 a month. That 1000 bucks was my biggest scratcher win so far. By the way, the inside of the lottery headquarters in Salem is really freaking cool. They even have special individual tables where you can sit and scratch tickets.

The lottery is designed to make the games profitable for the stores selling the tickets and the state. At the very beginning they showed the odds. I've done much better in the stock market where none of my purchases have gone to zero, most pay dividends every quarter, and most have gone up in value. Only downside is I had to pay the IRS an additional $7100 in takes on the capital gains and dividends. Value increased from $5100 to $9500 in a year and a half. Biggest winner was buying WES at $5.42 per share. It was nailed in price when oil and related crashed last year. Enjoying a 22% dividend on cost for the purchase along with increase in value at 4X the purchase price. Waiting for the next market crash and sale to boy more highly discounted stocks. Lottery tickets are never sold at 80% off in price.

My mother and I went to a wedding out of state. On the way back she bought a scratcher at the gas station, we get in car headed back she discovered she had won $50 but by this time we were over state line so she said she would just mail it in. As I looked down at her feet I said hey you dropped a scratcher so she starts to scratch it and low and behold she won 1m dollars!!!! We turned around and stayed in the state for a week!
I buy the scratch offs from time to time. I never really win enough to keep me coming back. I do play the 3 and 4 numbers lotto though. Recently just won few bucks. Good luck to all that play. Can't win if you don't play.

I think the secret is not to buy your same tickets in the same store! If you loose more from there in 6months, change your luck in another store that you never went to, like a liquor store, where they make plenty of money! Your luck may change!!! It has happened to me, got discouraged of the same store for a long time, I hated that store, changed to another store got lucky $100.00 on a $2.00 ticket! Then went to another store and bought another $2.00 ticket and won $100.00 again the next day! I usually am not that lucky with scratch tickets, I love my 4 digest numbers better! Have had much luck on them, not playing every day. Wait till I have a feeling, keep track of the daily numbers in a journal size book, 12month for each page, you can tell which numbers are over due, and figure it out! I always get 3 out of 4 in another order, sometime Next day I win a couple of hundred! Save put away for a rainy day!!!
