when you started this new format, i did not expect much, but boy oh boy, was i wrong. It is such a joy to watch those kinds of videos, i take them any day over a normal review. You not only make some valuable remarks about the shoes, most of all, you put the joy of running in nature into the main focus, and that makes my heart jump up and down with joy. Thanks a lot for putting a great idea into the world
God, I love these Trail Tested Reviews so much. Thanks for another solid video and spiking my interests in those Hyperfly's. Huge props for the filming and editing. I was about to rewind for the swoop, but then remembered who I was watching. Thanks for that perfect edit and slowmo!
Watching this reminds me of Salomon sponsored runs, UTMB etc…camera guy is doing an awesome job…Go Killian I mean Ginger Runner 🤙🏽😉 smile everyone, and have a great weekend.
Very nice indeed, another nice trail testing! Did not know the Ultrafly had a plate, that is a first for Nike on the tral (: keep it up buddy, cant wait fir the full review!
Great video again! Your first impression of the Adidas reminded me of my first run in the original Saucony Mad River and the newer Exodus UItra. In both cases, they got more comfortable after getting them wet (rainy run with the MR, stream crossing with the EU. Maybe the same would work with the Adidas. Keep up the good stuff, owl man!
Trail tested is an amazing format, loving it! Could you do a head to head of the Nike range? So many models now, never sure how each model stacks up against each other
Great video, so glad you posted this. Almost pulled the trigger on the adidas but I think you've rightfully dissuaded me and thus saved me some money haha
This was fantastic! You get a pretty good workout doing these :) Does it make sense to compare the Nike Ultrafly Trail to the Saucony Endorphin Edge? Seems like a similar concept: super foam, carbon plate, wider platform, and shallow lugs.
Keep these up! I love your reviews, but this enhances it a little more, actual first run perspective helps. heel rub, volume issues, tight spots, all that, keep content coming!
Great review. Please review the Adidas Terrex Speed Flow 225. It placed top 3 both men and woman at the 50 K at UTMB. I bought it for 65 USD here in Norway. Its a very good shoe. Very light, and suprising cushioning for its lower stack height.
@@TheGingerRunner yup, some MUCH worse than others-u learn where the particularly “worse” ones are and give that area a wide berth…bit of added adrenaline tho until you work out which places to avoid for a couple months🤣they usually come from behind, so you often just hear them (freaky!), or feel their beaks in the back of the head if ur real unlucky…consequently, my run routes get changed up quite a bit this time of year🤣😂🤣😂
My first trail shoe was a Terrex Agravic! Hated it to the bone! Only two good things about it... the outsole and the way the water went off! Had to adjust the lacing it every 3k!!!
From one Ginger 😝to another! 🤜🏻🤛🏻 Any Adidas I’ve ever owned I’ve had to double tie. I still use them. So far I’m still loving my HOKA ONE ONE Mach 4 Superfly’s
again a great video and shoe introduction; not like many other channels this video is a realistic footage - a combination of nature / running and joy.. - as average runner I love the honest opinion and footage which I can rely on... great work!
Great review, the Nike looks good. Always expensive though 😢 GR I'd love to see you try the Topo Ultrafly 4 at some point for a review, it's been amazing for a wide footer like myself 👍
Genuinely, this is GREAT content, thank you! Those Nike look amazing but not as awesome as the trails you get to meander through. What a nice change from the usual early thoughts stuff, kudos
Thanks for one of the first Ultrafly reviews! I had great hopes, but over 300gr seems too heavy for me. My Salamon s lab pulsar only weight 210gr in size 12...
Another great test review, can’t wait for an update on the Nike when you have put more miles into them. Any plans to test the new Atreyu Base Trail? I received my pair here in the UK a few days ago, hoping to get out in them tomorrow.
I was on edge waiting for the owl jumpscare. Nikes have been the only bunion shoe I can stand (I'll give them that, points on the generous joint flyknits), but dang, do they not drain off or dry. The non-goretex pegasus trail is just the coldest, wettest shoe I have ever owned.
Great review as always. I don’t know, it being 2022 and all, should shoes require significant break in periods? Bit of a non-starter for me. Any thoughts on how the first pair impacts your impressions of the second pair you try? Did the Adidas stiffness make you appreciate the Nike more? Yeah, too bad Nike’s profit margins are so slim they have to charge folks a ton of money for their shoes 🙄 Also, thoughts on off-leash dogs on trails?
I'd say the poor Adidas impressions absolutely contributed to a more positive second loop in the Nikes - but I figured that'd happen so tried to regulate my excitement. As for off-leash dogs, I am absolutely a fan of leashes, even if long, as I've been attacked/chased by plenty of "normally nice" dogs off-leash.
I gave the Adidas Terrex Agravic Flow 2 a 150 mile try.... While the fit is good, and the upper did soften, they always feel like 3/4" plywood under foot. I want Adidas shoes to work so badly (I dont know why) but they are just too firm and too stiff time and time again. It makes me wonder if they make custom shoes for their athletes or I am just too soft
Adidas terrex have been hit and miss for me, terrex speed ultra took 200 miles to bed in, although actually enjoying them now, terrex two ultra have been great out of the box but the knit means I don't risk them on technical terrain
For me Nike is like a bad relationship you swear off, then after some time you think ohhh- that looks good, let’s try it again, I’m sure it will be different this time….and it’s not. Also good to know I’m not the only person to wonder if I pooped my pants on a trail run….
Lmaooo Adidas fanboys are crying at "a birthday cake you get at a grocery store". That was an epic Barred Owl cameo - awesome vid as always, it's like being out on a run with you (props to your camera person getting great footage and running along!). So many off-leash dogs!
Really like these reviews, but could you please not walk in a circle at the end? It makes me nauseous and I don’t want to end the video feeling like I’m gonna hurl. 😀
Why is the Nike the superstar?? Really, why? Overpriced and not durable. Adidas is a much more durable, resistant shoes. I guess people are paid by Nike, and is clear in these videos, so much publicity on Nike.
Agravic Flow 2, new Nike Ultrafly Trail AND getting swooped by an Owl!? Sounds like a good time! Enjoy the all-new Trail Tested 😊
Thanks for the video! Love your review on the Nike zoom X

Well, that's one of the best compliments ever! Thank you so much!
couldn't agree more.
maybe do similar test for road shoes? the scenery won't be as interesting though...

I love trail tested video reviews. Thanks for bringing such a nice creative testing shoe review to the community. Looking forward to the next one.
Big fan of this series along with all you do!!!!!! Thx man!!
Any chance you’ll be reviewing the Mafate Speed 4 soon? I really want to hear your opinion on that huge redesign
Yup! Trail tested and full review soon!
Shoe looks amazing!
Been away from the channel for some time, and come across THIS! Awesome new format GR! Kudos and thank you for something new and different
Watching this reminds me of Salomon sponsored runs, UTMB etc…camera guy is doing an awesome job…Go Killian I mean Ginger Runner 🤙🏽😉 smile everyone, and have a great weekend.
great video Mr Ginger! loving the trail tested series. Also loved the Owl will you be doing an Owl claw race one day in honor of him?
Very nice indeed, another nice trail testing! Did not know the Ultrafly had a plate, that is a first for Nike on the tral (: keep it up buddy, cant wait fir the full review!
This is a great approach to reviewing shoes.
Great video again!

Trail tested is an amazing format, loving it!

The shoes, the notes, the noises, the swears, the owl - too good!
Was that a "WO IZ UZ!" I heard? The wise Ole owl loves the Nike's.
Loving these new trail test reviews! Staying at the top of the running shoe game..
Nice. Another trail tested episode. Love it.
"OOOOOOOOOOOOH YEEEEEZUSSSS" -- is what I heard 🤣
Really love these trail tested videos. Keep em comin Ethan! Something I find myself looking forward to
Great video. I'm loving the trail tested vids. The owl was awesome!
Great video, so glad you posted this. Almost pulled the trigger on the adidas but I think you've rightfully dissuaded me and thus saved me some money haha
ALways great reviews! Big fan - never dull!
The ultra fly surprised me. I really thought you might be reviewing the Zegama, so great to see this shoe.
Zegama coming soon!
Will the Zegama have a Gore-Tex version?
This was fantastic! You get a pretty good workout doing these :)
Does it make sense to compare the Nike Ultrafly Trail to the Saucony Endorphin Edge? Seems like a similar concept: super foam, carbon plate, wider platform, and shallow lugs.
The Saucony lugs are more substantial for sure, but interesting comparison!
Keep these up! I love your reviews, but this enhances it a little more, actual first run perspective helps. heel rub, volume issues, tight spots, all that, keep content coming!
There is an owl over at Bridal Trails that has nabbed many a runner's hats... especially bright colored ones.
You could just post videos of you running around on Tiger reacting to things (no gear testing needed) and I would still watch it religiously 😂
Come for the shoe reviews and stay for the owl attacks!!!
Love the Rapha Shirt! Which one is that exactly?
Not sure actually - got it a few seasons ago!
That Owl was NOT messing around 🤣🤣🤣
Probably not a big fan of Nike trail shoes the owl was. Time to fly🦉
If that's the sound Ethan makes for an owl, his scream when a bear appears must be epic. LOL
I'd pay to see that 😂
I think he could sample it in a future song!
Funny, I've seen SO many bears this season that they stopped phasing me - the owl on the other hand, scared the bejeezus out of me!
Oh nice these are two shoes I’m interested in !!
Love these videos!!!
Commentary is great! :D
You did that outtro before you ran. No way they would look that good even after 1 run!
Love this format. Great footage and hugely useful info. 🌟
These tests are the best - way better than the reviews from the "studio" :)

Helpful review, but about that owl- wow!
OOOooooH YEEEZUS!! LMAO🤣😂🤣
Reminds me, we have just hit magpie season here down under…they don’t mess around either!!🤣😂🤣
I’ve heard they can be REALLY aggressive!

That noise HAS to be incorporated into the next Gingerrunner album.
Hahaha, I can try!
Thanks for one of the first Ultrafly reviews! I had great hopes, but over 300gr seems too heavy for me. My Salamon s lab pulsar only weight 210gr in size 12...
Except no one’s running a 100mile ultra in the pulsars which the Ultrafly is designed for.
@@m.pachomia7367 I use the Pulsar for marathon distance with mixed ground (like Jungfrau Marathon). Is the Ultrafly realy made for 100k races?!?
@@GTrolfu only if it doesnt rain in the week of the race 🤣
@@cordeiropedro Have you ever been there? I run it last weekend and it was great even after a rainy night... ;)
@@GTrolfu yes, but I am talking about any of the nike trail shoes. The Pulsar or any other trail shoe can take that without issues.
That owl though ginger was on the menu for a moment 🤣
I'm spicy!
Thanks for sharing this amazing vid ❤
Amazing trail
Another great test review, can’t wait for an update on the Nike when you have put more miles into them.
Any plans to test the new Atreyu Base Trail?
I received my pair here in the UK a few days ago, hoping to get out in them tomorrow.
Already have a review of the base trail :) Reviewed one of their early prototypes!
How do the Ultrafly's compare to other plated trail racers (Tecton X / Endorphin Edge)?
I am not a trail runner, but wow those trails look amazing!! Where is this?
Tiger Mountain
Loving the “trail tested “ format! Great entertainment, partnering up with the wildlife.. keep up the great work!
Ethan has a Tippi Hendren experience! I'm thinking a theme has emerged for Halloween 🦉👀😂

Owl yeah!
Does the new Ultrafly feel closer to the ground than the Vaporfly?
Anyone know when the Nikes are due for release?

@thegingerrunner can you do a review on the new Adidas Soulstride Ultra? Thx 🙏 and keep on YouTubing ✌️👍

A Tiger Hat for Tiger Mountain...Is that GR Merch hat?
Woot!
Who’s the camera person? Props to them
That'd be my running buddy, Darin!
Great video Like these Nikes
that's an old proto of the Nike but the production model has a Vibram outsole (basically what EVERYONE has been asking Nike for for years)!
Clearly the owl did not appreciate you having any non-positive feedback about the Nike 😂
May I follow you on Strava Ginger runner?
White trail shoes! 🙈

Your gait looks so much better in the Nike.
1st comment! Been waiting for the Ultrafly
Funny reaction.
The Reebok Floatride Energy 4 Adventure is better and at 50% of the price you can buy one for you and your partner
NIke looks a lot like Sense Ride from Salomon
Nikes have WAY softer midsole, more snap and more accommodating upper. I do like the Sense Ride though!
Ultrafly still hasn't been released! C'mon Nike!
Lmaooo Adidas fanboys are crying at "a birthday cake you get at a grocery store". That was an epic Barred Owl cameo - awesome vid as always, it's like being out on a run with you (props to your camera person getting great footage and running along!). So many off-leash dogs!
And none of the shoes have seen a drop of rain or mud yet.
Looking forward to the Nike Zoom X Trail. Please do an Apple Watch Ultra review.
I would buy that shirt for a 1$
