    Hiya Chrissie For the 3rd time I'm refreshing memories rewatching your gorgeous hand work bag before I make bags and purses for Christmas pressies. So stunned it was eight years ago I sat utterly mesmerised....
    with your work.
    I'd never seen anything so beautiful, created to look like it was found, long lost in a lovely old box....a forgotten treasure of antique gorgeous gorgeousness...a bag you made.
    Wishing you a wonderful Christmas with many thanks for the years of enjoyment, of so many beautiful works of art I've loved since I watched you for the first time making this very bag.
    ❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗

      Love all your videos, you've taught me for 8 years. I look forward to and enjoy seeing a new vid from you with new ways created and learning from them.
      There's always lovely surprises.
      I've wondered if you spend time at galleries are they your muse or does your creative inspiration come from play? Worked on in a visual journal? Or those moments when magic meets reality whilst daydreaming?
      You're inspiring to so many. ♥️🤗♥️
      Regards and smiles
      Aussie too 🙃

      @@annabellagardner3190 Thank you so much. I love that you enjoy my little videos. No, I don't go to galleries, I just enjoy playing and spending time in my craft room is probably my favourite thing to do. I am happy when I am in here and can loose myself for hours on end just pottering around. We are practically neighbours then lol!! I am in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast. 🙂🌹

    I have been sewing for 55 years ...many different things...from clothing to custom window treatments. But I have just started making junk journals, and trying my hand at the Shabby look in the last year. I just cannot stress to you enough how VERY much watching you, in this tutorial, has helped me !!! You have knocked down an invisible wall in my creative mind, that was stopping me from "just jumping in and giving this a try". You are a very talented artist and I loved watching you work.
    Thanks for the inspiration....and for taking the time to do this wonderful tutorial.

    Hi Christie, wow I found this today and it was really great for your first tutorial, I have made several of these little pouches and I am always looking for helpful tips, so thanks. What an absolute treat to see Miss Chrissie (well most of Miss Chrissie, Zebra arms and all) on camera and a tutorial to boot. You are going to make a lot of people very happy. So smart I never think to dye bunches of stuff to have on hand I must do that. This bag is gorgeous, everything you make is gorgeous. I love the tattered look to the edges, nothing finished, that's what makes it an Attic Treasure!!! Big Hugs, Patti

    Chrissie, thanks so much for letting me in the Attic! Oh watch fun to watch you work your lovely art! Oh you did good for your first tutorial. I was wondering about that bag before, as I thought you had used quilted material. I see now you sew it! Lots of ladies glue now, but I love the sewn look! I got me a new computer sewing a year ago LOL have not used it very much! Maybe, I will now that you showed this on how you added your laces. Like I have told you before I love that tattered look! I see so much beauty in it! I can't wait to see what surprise you have for us! Hugs, Judy

    Oh, I can't thank you enough for doing this tutorial! It was so kind and generous of you to show us how this was made and the tips you provided....well,I would not have thought of them but now I most certainly will try them. I was also so happy to see the thought process that goes into decision making on how to get this creative look. I do not think I am artistic so when I try to be creative, I get impatient with myself b/c if I don't get the look/results I want quickly....I get discouraged. But I see that it does take time and instead of getting impatient, you were enjoying this process. I will now try to do the same and be more patient with the process. Thanks so much for you inspiration!

    • @chrissiecrosser
      @chrissiecrosser  9 лет назад

      Donna Joseph Donna, I am so glad that I could be helpful and I am sure you will get the look you want if you just play around. That is all I do and if I find that it isn't coming together as I want, I just leave it for a while and remember...there are no rules..just go with what looks pleasing to you. Don't be discouraged and don't be too hard on yourself and if I can help, send me a message and I will try.

      Candy, I haven't really done a tutorial but the above link is to a video I did show one way I had worked out how to do fabric pages. As for my little fabric books I just use separate pieces of fabric for the pages which I embellish individually and then just sandwich together and sew around them. Hope that makes sense but if not let me know and I will try and explain it better :) The pages are usually calico or whatever other fabric I have that I think will work.

    Thankyou for the wonderful tutorial. I have a few questions are there different kinds of cheese cloth? Also on the muslin, I have only seen something that appears thick and kind of more like canvas. Is there another name for what you used, it looked very thin, filmy, and lovely. Love your style

    • @chrissiecrosser
      @chrissiecrosser  9 лет назад

      Hello and thank you for your comment and questions. Yes, there are different cheese cloths...some are a lot coarser than others but I think maybe I have confused you a little as I tend to use both the words 'cheese cloth' and' muslin' for the same fabric. I did notice I had done this in my video. I hope I have clarified this for you and not made it too confusing.

    Thank you so much Chrissie for your wonderful tutorial....I love all your work. I have sewn all my life from being a little girl and now I am trying my hand at junk journals and this sort of work. I have noticed that you pop into your projects “words of wisdom” printed on fabric.....how do you do this ? and where do you get your lovely messages from?

    • @chrissiecrosser
      @chrissiecrosser  6 лет назад

      Hello Kathy, thank you for taking time to spend with me and for your comment. I am not certain what 'words of wisdom' you mean but perhaps they might be the little stamped words I sometimes use or maybe some are the printed words I print onto fabric. Sometimes I will use a little quote or scripture that I cut from a book I have and make it into a tag. I hope you will share with us here what you create too Kathy.

    Thank you so very much for making this tutorial. Your eye for putting everything together is exceptional. I'm sure if I attempted to do this it would turn into a jumbly mess! Your video has inspired my to at least try something a similar, maybe on a smaller scale. I have a few ideas of coloring/dyeing the laces I have. I love the flowers you make. Any chance of a tutorial on how you make them? Thank you once again - Julie

      Hello Julie, thanks for dropping by the Attic and watching my tutorial. Please give it a try...you will be surprised to see how easy and enjoyable it is. As for the flowers...there are just so many wonderful tutorials out there. Mine are mainly just a variation of a lollipop flower really I guess. Just circles layered.

      Thank you Chrissie. Do you just leave the edges to fray?

    • @chrissiecrosser
      @chrissiecrosser  9 лет назад

      Julie Blake Julie, I always give the edges a 'help along' to fray :) Wherever possible I just rip the fabric to give a tattered frayed look but if you meant the flower circles I kind of go around the circles with my fingers to help it along and fray it as much as possible. Some fabrics don't fray though but the fraying just adds to the appeal I think.

    Thank you for this. Not sure what you mean by "avocado" look Does that mean it is green? It didn't look green on the video so I would love it if you could clarify. Thanks

      If you Google avocado dyeing Kathy you will see lots of videos of showing the method. The skins colour the fabrics in a very subtle pink colour and not green as one would expect. Hope this helps.

    Sorry for another question but just wondering what you use to dye your laces and trims? I tried coffee dying them but didn't like how they came out, maybe I didn't do it correctly, not sure.

    I wish I was able to make a video but don't know how to do that....don't have equipment to do it and not sure even how I would be able to take a picture and post it anywhere. Maybe I will look into it one day because it would be fun to show off my creations!

    Just wanted to let you know I am in the process of making a tablet case and it is GREAT fun! You are so right, you just need to play with the materials and eventually you get a placement that is appealing to your eye...and that is creative! I have made some mistakes in the construction but nothing serious...so my next attempt will be better...learn from experience.

    I love this and all your works of art ! I tell everyone else, except you, that my one intention is to be able to make something in your style which I love! I think I finally have enough vintage pieces so when I get the courage & feel confident , I will try and then if it’s not too badly, I’ll show you! I’ve always loved your work & channel but not sure if I ever remember to comment! It’s tricky for me to be able to place things & layer in a tasteful way! But, I’m determined to give it a go :-)). hi miss Chrissie - what type of needle do you use for these fabric collages?

    • @chrissiecrosser
      @chrissiecrosser  6 лет назад

      Hello Natalie, I am afraid I don't change my needle very often and use the same needle for stitching on my paper and fabric ( probably frowned upon by the experts lol!! ) I think mostly I have a needle about 90?? Nothing special :)

    I am going to try to make a banner with this idea....something like a rectangular piece hanging from a vintage hanger (have to find the hanger). I think your style will make a pretty collage that would hang on a wall...or anywhere. Maybe you will do one too? :-)
