"Oooh thats where that was...awesome" This resonates with me as a maker as well. That one piece you lost 5 projects ago, had to spend 2 hours remaking just to find it again later.
here in the UK i've spent years specialising in education and teaching carpentry to student courses. i've been involved for about 5 years now. and MY teacher has been doing it for 30+ years. and hes always used japanese tools mixed with british techniques and projections, etc. the one adam is using in the video is specifically a dovetail saw, and its probably one of the most versatile. there are a multitude of shapes and their uses. the best thing about the japanese saws in my opinion is the grip. and the accuracy achieved with it. and when making my own tool boxes they're essential becuase the cut is so thin because the blade is so thin its almost a seemless cut every time. so i can make a fully enclosed box and cut the doors out and you'd never know. thats just one of their uses. anywho. they are a hidden gem in the world of tools and to think it changed a man's life so much that he used them for 30 years then proceeded to teach students to use them is a testiment to how good they are.
That's an amazing build, and it was great to be able to watch the process of it. My only concern is that on the original there is a lip around the rim so that the top is flush. On your exquisite reproduction the pull tab seems to jut out above the lip of the can, possibly causing some structural issues if the weight of a couch is on the top of it.
Adam. A truly great friend. Replaces make shift repair to a piece of furniture with a replica of a make shift repair to a price of furniture that actually needs a really repair
Did i just find the video before it was officially released? Date says 1/31, it's 2/3, and also says unlisted? Found via the one day builds playlist...
Yes, you found it before it was released. We've noticed a recent glitch with RUclips, in which sometimes we'll schedule a video to go out on a certain date and time. We'll pre-assign it a playlist, and when we do, it will show up in that playlist immediately, before the scheduled date and time that the video is available on the channel as a whole. The smile that came out at the end with "with support," I truly felt that in my soul. Beautiful work

I am so glad there are people out there like Adam and all the Tested crew that are just as big of geeks as me. :) Thank you.
Also Amber Ruffin is hilarious and wonderful!! What a great gift!
Been binging Mythbusters now it's time for some One Day Builds.

@@NedransVikingar are you sure? And can't beat a bit of mythbusters
Dang, I wish I had the determination to prank my friends this hard...
Ive got some experience in woodworking and id really recommend traditional european bowl gouges. You dont have to use
Expensive ones cheap ones will do fine they usually make better shavings and better results great vid
Watching Adam's builds is like watching a great artist at work. Thank you for making us part of your crafting.
I honestly don't know if I've seen Adam enjoy himself more on a one-day build. We need more stuff like this. Nothing wrong with everything else, I love it, but this was pure entertainment start to finish.
Thank you for finally putting on a mask and eye protection. I'm also baffled you didn't use the band saw for the gross cuts on the stock...perhaps it needs to be set up?
12:40 I dig those Ark of the Covenant figures.
I was shocked to see them.
@@fozzie488 I went back and watched the segment from MB, those aren't the same ones, so I'm not sure what they are for.
@@robbie6625 I would've been electrified if they were.
Wakka Wakka :-)
Fozzie
Well played
I swear someone mentions them every video
~5:30-6:15 : A bandage magically appears to Adam's left index finger. Some footage was cut, it seems. Wonder what happened with the Japanese saw. :P
I say with experience that Japanese saws, while fun to use, are way more angry than most saws. They are the africanized honey bee of woodworking
Yup - that was a definite fresh flesh wound! Hope he's fine :-)
he actually didn't have the bandaid on when he went to the table saw. go frame by frame.(use the period and comma key) he most likely cut it on the tilted table saw that's why he decided to use a push block.
Ben Guse it was definitely before the table saw. Look at a still of 5:55 as he drops it on the saw.
@@wrecksandtech yeah idk its hard to see when he presses the ON button on the table saw his index finger is in the shadow... so maybe. but they did a jump cut right after that so either way its possible.
Watching this man work is insane. You can tell he has so much love for what he does. Epic.
Hey, Adam, your work on the fake can of beans remind me of how Dad used to work as an instructor for Furniture and Cabinet Making, especially when you're turning the project on the wood lathe. Thanks to him, I got acquainted and familiar with woodworking tools as a little kid, though I still have to use a wood lathe. Nice one, Adam!
so when are we going to have a show and tell of those two angels from the arc from indiana jones, teasing us with all those shots during this build. i cannot wait anymore for any kind of update :D
the arc that kari, tory and grant shocked the shit out of him with on mythbusters?
@@scientific3458 if u notice during the vid and other vids in the background you see the 2 angels that are atop the arc coffin, so i assume he is making a replica of that piece, and noticed those angels for ages now and not a word on the build yet, its driving me crazy :P BUT since im leaving for work in a few days and gonna be gone for 8 weeks(fisherman at the barent sea) i hope by then he will have made a video by the time im back :P hehe
I thought the same thing but thought maybe it was a throwback to his most pissed off day on mythbusters. That may have been the only time we have ever seen him mad.
This is something I've been wondering, too. I hate to laugh at misfortune, but "Do you feel God?" and "You can totally jump that wagon, Tory," are my two favorite Mythbuster moments.
I'm pretty sure they aren't the real prop ones. I've seen the real ones in his cave before and they're painted gold.
Made my day! Would love to see Amber's reaction if possible...
I'm so happy you included a picture of it in use!
I'm enjoying seeing Adam this happy and goofing around 😂
literally every bit of this video sparks joy.
Awesome Adam. A true artist. And a good friend.
I love these one day builds.. makes me wish I had his talent 😂😂

@@leiladekwatro3147 In contrast to talent, you can buy those.
Adam with safety glasses, and a breathing mask?! What have you done with the real Adam! ;)
Those safety glasses will sort of keep chips sort away from his eyes but it should be a full proper face shield. Not a safety thing he found in a TV series that I think is sold more as a splash guard.
that thing breaks loose and that shield just makes for more stuff penetrating his face.
It's a start at least.
Still no spray booth or dust extraction though.
Anyone know where to find those?

You should call your art/props “a piece of Savagery”
And this particular piece would fall under the category of Pop(lar) art.

Wait, is Adam making an Arc of the Covenant? I guess he's over being electrocuted.
That's where those statues were from, thanks I realised I knew those somewhere
12:38 i guess
I love the creation of this functional gag but I was curious as to why he didn't just use the pull tab from the actual can and rivet it on to the wooden fake can. Thank you for constantly having interesting things to show on the channel, I always look forward to them when they get uploaded!
I just love it. I could not get my eyes off a second of how he did it!!!
8:06 The rare sight of Adam using a dust particle mask 😷😝
and his respirator
"Oooh thats where that was...awesome"
This resonates with me as a maker as well. That one piece you lost 5 projects ago, had to spend 2 hours remaking just to find it again later.
with how much i watch this stuff I'm waiting for the day my roommates ask me "what are you sanding in there?"
here in the UK i've spent years specialising in education and teaching carpentry to student courses. i've been involved for about 5 years now. and MY teacher has been doing it for 30+ years. and hes always used japanese tools mixed with british techniques and projections, etc.
the one adam is using in the video is specifically a dovetail saw, and its probably one of the most versatile. there are a multitude of shapes and their uses. the best thing about the japanese saws in my opinion is the grip. and the accuracy achieved with it. and when making my own tool boxes they're essential becuase the cut is so thin because the blade is so thin its almost a seemless cut every time. so i can make a fully enclosed box and cut the doors out and you'd never know.
thats just one of their uses.
anywho. they are a hidden gem in the world of tools and to think it changed a man's life so much that he used them for 30 years then proceeded to teach students to use them is a testiment to how good they are.
He seems so happy doing this, im glad for him!
Ah, yes, the old "dropping something and finding something else you've been looking for for WEEKS while searching". We've all been there...
I was hoping it would have one of the "EAT BEANS!" 😬 labels from the Mythbustore ;)
I love this channel lol it's a mix between teaching and asmr XD
Adam. A truly great friend. Replaces make shift repair to a piece of furniture with a replica of a make shift repair to a price of furniture that actually needs a really repair

Glitch in the matrix
Yes, you found it before it was released. We've noticed a recent glitch with RUclips, in which sometimes we'll schedule a video to go out on a certain date and time. We'll pre-assign it a playlist, and when we do, it will show up in that playlist immediately, before the scheduled date and time that the video is available on the channel as a whole. This was one of those occasions.
i love you adam it almost brings tears to my eyes to watch you .. i miss you guys so much
