It is cool to see how a certain racquet becomes a part of our perception of a player's persona. After so many years, to see Andy Murray hold a Yonex just looks wrong lol.
I played for two years with the 89.5” head of the 2001 iprestige and finally after trying dozens of rackets I got two Head Gravity Pros (100” head) and when I bumped up my tension up 3 kilos I found the racket to be as controlled as my iprestige. I had to add 15 grams to it but now it’s absolutely amazing and I am still in shock that a 100” head can be so perfect still. Good luck to Andy in finding that modern racket to suit his game. Tak tak and enjoy Foro Italico…I was there when I was a young pro back almost 4 decades ago!!! Andiamo!
The Ezone 100 is actually currently leading in my demo tests (ahead of Dunlop FX500 LS, Babalot Pure Aero Team and Prince Tour 290 with seven others trailing behind), so I am intrigued that my fellow Scot likes it too. I am 63 (fairly fit for my age) and just returned to tennis after more than 20 years (ankle and knee injuries) having been an okay club player previously. But my racquet, Prince Graphite Comp 90 (349g strung), was bought in 1989 and I obviously need to update. I have a one-handed backhand, serve is my most consistent shot and I like to attack the net when I can. I can hit with a reasonable amount of power and direction, but my consistency of shot has yet to return (especially on my backhand, which I changed to two-handed in my teens but now one-handed again as I forgot the technique). Which racquet would you recommend (but not Head or Wilson)?
Great vid. Great story about how Andy bought the racquet and weighted it up. Let's see how it pans out in the coming weeks. Maybe he'll emulate Davydenko's success when he switched to the Prince Ozone a week before Miami one year.
So many club players seem to think they are too advanced for a 100 square inch frame if a 98 version is available… Which makes it hilarious that Andy Murray has chosen it!
His game will probably look similar, but I can imagine him saving lots of energy and looking lighter and stronger in tough matches. Of course, no racquet or string will bring back his youth.
What a huge change that is. An Ezone 100 with 30g of lead in the hoop + gut in the mains sounds like an absolute bazooka to me. 😂 and this coming from such a control stick he used during his entire career. Also interesting that he is switching so late in his career. I would have rather expected him to retire in the next 12 months.
I was lining up to buy the Ezone 98, as people say the Ezone 100 is like an unpredictable rocket launcher. Why would Murray opt for the more recreational 100, over the control of the 98?
Great video! Interesting to see Andy with a non-Head racquet, but I hope this changes works out for him! You couldn't resist the "gripping" pun, could you? 🤣🤣 I'm also curious as to why Head didn't extend its contract with Andy. Maybe that's why he decided to try Yonex instead of another power/spin friendly racquet within Head's lineup?
Great analysis. Power is exactly what Andy needs. Lack of power is main reason why he losses matches so much. He lost power in his shots. His movement is still on very high level. I am quite certain Nadal wont retire this year, and I hope Murray wont too.
Sampras thick headed stuck with his racquet, why not Murray!!!! 🙈 Glad he is looking for something extra in his game. No regrets after retiring like a few retired ATP players.
Hi Jonas, completely unrelated I know, but that shirt is beautiful. Could you tell me where did you get it? Thank you, and to all your spies Ps: love your dad jokes, kinda
Don’t sell yourself short, Jonas. Of course Andy took your advice, or maybe a member of his team relayed it to him perhaps? Otherwise, it’s just too much of a coincidence I think.
But WAS the Bottle incident an ACCIDENT or ? Seems a bit suspicious because if Novak was to win another he would reach 25 Slams a total which will without doubt never be met let alone surpassed.. Why dont these venues not place roofing over the walk in-out corridors?
I would believe his frames will most certainly will have foam injected into the handle which will get rid of any "hollow" feeling and would also help balance out the added wgt via lead tape in the upper hoop.
@@hybrid11theory75 let us know how many of your racquets you have pro-stock modified via injected foam or silicone within the handle. There is no comparison between what you feel through a retail market Yonex with a hollow twin tube handle versus what you feel thru a solid handle which absorbs nearly all vibrations generated in the racquet head upon ball contact.
He can't move from Head officially until that contract expires, he buys himself out of it, or Head lets him go. If Andy shows up with the Yonex in a blacked out cosmetic, that will tip you off.
Is Dino trying to set some kind of world record in the number of projects he can be part of? There’s really tough competition out there, though: Ronnie Romero, Jorn Lande, Jeff Scott Soto and Mike Portnoy, to name just a few. 😁
Andy had a great career but his comeback was a bit of a dud..He should go and enjoy his family..changing racket in the last weeks of his career is a waste of time.

Andy Roddick to Wilson and now Andy Murray to Yonex, dogs and cats living together... MASS HYSTERIA!!!!

I don't think anyone has spoken like that since the 19th century. Especially someone who's Scottish, like Andy.

Prince Warrior 100
Andy's a member of TennisNerds now. I'd love to see his game with more power.
Whats the name of the grip
Very good decision from Andy!
Pete Sampras had said that his biggest mistake was not changing racquet (size) and string hardness.
what do you refer to when mention string hardness? He regret not going lower in tension?
Great vid. Great story about how Andy bought the racquet and weighted it up. Let's see how it pans out in the coming weeks. Maybe he'll emulate Davydenko's success when he switched to the Prince Ozone a week before Miami one year.

What was the name of the grip you said andy used , all I got was carcurry grip 😂
Karakal
Where did you get the 107G Phantom in the EU? Haven't seen it on TW EU or Tennis Pro
Are you sure that Tabilo plays with a Vcore 98? The string pattern is 16x20, so could it be a Vcore 95 instead?
The SV 98 was 16/20
I was lining up to buy the Ezone 98, as people say the Ezone 100 is like an unpredictable rocket launcher. Why would Murray opt for the more recreational 100, over the control of the 98?
@Tennisnerd why did you finally gave up on Yonex Ezone 100? I remember you loved that frame. It was one of the most highly reviewed racquet by you.
I struggled with the power and thick beam in the end, still one of my favorite racquets
And if that doesn't work out, my sources say andy could consider a switch to a boom pro or tfx1.
Hi together, if someone is very accustomed to the head speed but wants to try yonex, which racket line would be the best choice?
Give the VCore line a try.
percept 100 also worth trying

I think Andy would be very well served if he played with a Regna 98
I think he will come to that. Or maybe Percept 97H.

Great commentary, Jonas! Murray is such a flat ball hitter, who knows what he's planning with this new racket setup.
Murray has a flat backhand, but his forehand in anything but flat.
