Maybe uncommon opinion, but I really don't like when Bernardo plays as a winger in the national team. He's good at it in Man City because they focus on the middle, but historically Portugal's style of play is the ball goes to the wings and they cross to the striker. Bernardo played great for Portugal when he was playing in the center behind Ronaldo, just look at his 2019 Nations League stats. I think in the last few years they've been putting him on the right wing because 1 - Portugal doesn't have many left foot players who can play on the right wing, while on the left wing we have plenty of candidates such as Leão and Félix; and 2 - Portugal has a lot of good midfielders and they want to utilize them all, which makes Bernardo go to the position of a winger because he's used to it unlike the other creative midfielders. He also said before he prefers to play in the center. I don't know how they could fix this, but I feel like Bernardo not being in the middle is a waste.

João Cancelo is despicable defensively. There's no chance on earth Portugal wins it with that lunatic playing as a full back. Every single club as shipped him out because he is a massive liability and top competition is very aware of it. You can get away with it against weaker squads and this is when his offensive talents become apparent. But in crucial times Cancelo is guaranteed to F.up. Squads always explore his side because he is clueless about positioning. He isn't a defender. He's a winger. Play Nuno Mendes and Dalot who was elected United player of the season by his team mates.
Other than that i would be closely watching the Leao - Ronaldo combo because to me they are CLEARLY incompatible. I wouldn't be opposed to a 2nd system wit a pairing of CR and Ramos upfront and a 4-4-2 diamond formation with Silva as the 10 and freedom for our full backs to rush forward. That's a system thats suits cancelo more and he could be covered as we have an extra men in the midfield.
Cancelo didn't go out on loan because he's a bad player, he fought with Pep, it was purely personal. He is a wonderful player, and you're right in that he is not a defender. His position is an inverted wing back. His position is that on paper he's a full back, but on the pitch, he's a winger. The plus side to that is that he is amazing at getting in crosses and overlapping the midfield. I don't think he's a bad choice to play, he's a pretty decent player.

He's totally unable to play with poise and has no sense of tactics. His offensive talents alone are not enough at the top of the game. That's why he shouldn't start.

The only reason no one wants to keep him is his temper. He's been in the starting 11 for every big club he's played for. The fact that Man City, Bayern Munich, and Barca think he is good enough to play probably means he's good enough to play. Obviously they don't care about the opinions of people who don't like them, so he'll probably continue to be a starter like he has been for the last decade.

Rashford being left out is ridiculous because he is the only English player that I can think of right now who can pose any transition threat with his pace and dribbling. Never mind his insane ball striking and ability to finish. This might hurt the team because every big team at the Euros has transition players who are rapid and can pose a threat at the counter.
The fact that the England squad is only the provisional squad and he hasn't included him and Jadon Sancho is mental to me because Southgate will still need to cut some players to then submit his official 26-man squad to UEFA for the Euro. At least bring them and see how they do in the camp because players might sustain injuries.

Many things to point out...
First Pepe NEEDS to be near Ruben Dias. Ruben Dias is a quality defender, no question, but in world cup we saw many mistakes from him. Therefore we need Pepe to command that defense and make "dobras" when ruben fails. António Silva might be a player for the future but right now he cant even be put in the same sentence as Pepe.
At midfield it gets trickier as we might have a 4-4-2 that attacks as 4-3-3, with midfield composed by Palhinha, Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes and Otávio. Otávio can do, and did sometimes, the right wing in Porto. Other than, a conservative 4-3-3 could be composed by Palhinha, that i think is a no brainer due to his position, then Vitinha and the last spot could be awarded to either Bruno Fernandes or Otávio, depending on instructions.
On the attack you didnt even consider Pedro Neto which i think was a mistake. The guy was amazing at the premier league and if he is in good condition i could see him make the starting 11.
At the end of the day Portugal has a squad with great options so now it's up to Roberto to lead us to greatness again.

Id say Pepe starts cuz of experience and mentality, plus danilo is rly underrated, he is 100% better than antonio silva and was Psg's best defender for a while till marquinhos started playing over him. also dalot is just better than cancelo and nuno mendes this season. cancelo cant defend and is great in attack, just like nuno mendes, so Portugal would have 2 attacking lb and rb, which is not good. dalot was Man utd's best player for a reason, i watched some man utd games and he performed so well defensively. I would put dalot on the right or even left, as they already have Leao doing the wing, while in the right wing bernardo would prolly not be doing the wing and that could open space for a more attacking full back. dalot at lb would actually be better for their defense, while a more attacking full back in the right would be so good and crucial for their attack.
Ruben Neves has to start. He doesnt get the respect he deserves. One of the best DMs in the world and Palhinha doesnt come close. Also Vitinha is a different sort of player. I would go Neves, Vitinha, and Bernardo Silva.
