Thank you! For some reason the shot I’ve had the most trouble with is the backhand slice and I’ve watched several other videos but none of them broke it down to something I could understand and work on. Your explanation of the forearm movement really helped me out! Appreciate it....
In the last two days i watched a lot of your Videos and i am happy to tell you, that your explanations and instructions are just on Spot and well delivered. very well done man. Thanks to it.
here after your 9 o'clock vid from long ago. I've been binging your content (new and old)... many thanks for the invaluable free content you've created over the years. Hope you keep it up.
Recreational coach from Kosovo here. I have been using the slice backhand heavily since my conversion from a 2 handed BH to a 1-handed BH. However, 2 tips that I was not conscious of are: 1) The pronation of the forearm - which led to a limited variety of length and height; 2) firing of the hip: available power source that comes in handy when in need to make a deep cross or keep the ball low from a net approaching player.
This is perfect explanation of Roger slice, however, is Fairy difficult but very effective, easier is Novak's slice when he doesn't open head of racket so much in early stage of preparation and finally is possible to use Ken Rosewall's type of slice which is directing towards opponent , least effective but good when you are barvy reaching the ball when you are chased off the court towards backhans site, would like your opinion, greeting you and thanking for your excellent lectures
Miss Rogers slice it basically died in 2013 look at 2005 it was an aggressive shot to use as an approach shot or the good old slice and drive I think the lack of slice caused him extra losses to Novak. Great video mate !!!
Good video, but definitely need some more emphasis on keeping your head down for the entire shot, especially moving forward and leaning into the slice. A lot of players stop moving their feet half way through or pull back.
I think the slice is considered a safe shot because it's take so little effort. When hitting under-spin you really just need to set the right racquet face. Thanks
My default is one hand backhand topspin. So from ready position and unit turn I always switch to Eastern backhand grip when the ball comes to backhand side. Do I need to decide earlier that I'm going to slice? Or can I switch to Eastern after unit turn and then switch to Conti after seeing that I won't be able to topspin it?
Good question! Yes, you can still switch because the set up for the one-hander and the slice are so close. When you watch Fed it's hard to tell if he's going to hit a slice or a one-hander sometimes. As long as you have your non-dominant hand on the racquet you can switch to hitting a slice.
rubbish. it makes ok slice, not a good one. good slice is not yet introduced in ATP tour at the present time. do you want to learn a good slice? watch how samurai slice with their swords. then apply it to tennis. have fun!

The racquet face explanation at the point of contact is very helpful. Thank you for your great videos.

Very nice insight. Definitely a few things I'll have to keep in mind next time.

Very clear explanation, thanks a lot. I will practice this first thing tomorrow.
Thank you ! So much attention to detail and now understand the science behind a good single handed slice...
This is the best video on the backhand slice. Thank you.
Nope. It’s a great video but coach Steven Slice video is BETTER!
Great back hand tutorial.Thank you
Super thanks. Great instructions 🎾🏆
super intelligent explanation!
Love the demonstration at the end from back view, keep them coming !!😎
Newbie here haven't learned the slice yet
Excellent thank you❤
Great lesson 👍
This version is much better than the first version of this vid, especially the parts where we see you hit the slice. Thanks
Thanks! Always trying to improve!
Nice Class!!!
Very clear explanation
Thanks Kevin, great video. Another one on forehand slice would be nice, too.
Thanks Noted!

Hey there....what racquet do you use and what are your strings set to? Thank you!
First! And I never clicked on a video so fast- ever!
Yes kniving slice so effective ✅✅✅
Wish you were in my city and were my tennis coach
Good video, but definitely need some more emphasis on keeping your head down for the entire shot, especially moving forward and leaning into the slice. A lot of players stop moving their feet half way through or pull back.
Thanks Kevin! Why is slice considered a safe shot. Isn't it difficult to keep the ball in the court with underspin trying to float it out?

Nice Kevin! But I’d like a better analogy about the door. I don’t knock on doors that way ! Was there a second choice analogy?
Thanks for the feedback! I'll see if I can come up with another one Nabeen!
This is one of the hardest balls to hit back
Because it has a lot of junk on it.
Got caught by the dust bin lid spinning there XD
The trash basket knows how to produce a lot of spin!
What’s a knifing slice? And how is it different than a normal slice?
WINDMILL BIN (at the end)
Oh, sorry, could you repeat please? I was looking at the basket 11:06
BOOM
Thanks!
👍
Thanks Javi!
the trashbin knows how to slice
Volley grip should be the same of Slice
Watch the garbage can in the background. Someone ought to hook a generator up to that.
You’re not Federer!

lol...Interesting but thanks for commenting
@@TotalTennisDomination but?
How to slice down high balls like op a kick serve and/or heavy topspin to the backhand ?
