This was the first Taylor Swift song I ever heard. I was only seven when I first heard this album, but songs like I Almost Do and Begin Again changed everything I knew about country music. I've listened to a lot of songs over the years, but this is still one of my all-time favorites.

I will say that while I agree, I have noticed that Taylor’s version as a whole seems to be lacking in raw emotion, which is understandable, however that emotion was something I so loved back when it first came out and do miss a little now.

@@Sparklingjm1 For me it's mainly her pop songs that sound like that. One of the things that made those songs so amazing to me was how much passion and emotion she sang with in them. The other songs still feel like they have emotion in them just not as much as the original

It’s honestly amazing that after 10 years, she’s able to recreate her songs to sound the same. That’s talent, not to mention the little tweaks she’s added to her songs that make them more personal.

This version is so much more clear then the original, loving it. Taylor's vocals are brill 👌

What I like about this version is that is cleaner and sounds a little softer and more mature. You can tell she was going through the lyrics thinking "damn I was hurt back then" but leaving the feelings behind.
I prefer the emotions on the previous one tho. The way she was able to project the anger and pain she was feeling coming out of a toxic relationship was major. You could feel how raw the emotions were at the time of recording the song.
But all and all, this is a great remastered version. Props to Taylor for this amazing re recording. ❤️

I guess young Taylor wouldnt know she would be this famous today and made the label greedy.
So she just simply signed it, without further thinking.
@@randomrazr when she signed the contract with her old label, she didn't own the masters (original recording) to the songs she wrote, so she couldn't make any money off of them and she didn't have the rights to put her music in tv or movies. with her new contract with republic records, she owns the masters to her new music, but she couldn't find an opportunity to buy her old music back from her old label. rerecording her music allowed her to own the rights to her old songs, and allowed her to look back at old songs that didn't make the cut of the old album, and add them to the rerecorded one.

Cleaner mixing, Taylor's voice has matured, and there's some neat new details like the slight distortion in "trouble, trouble, trouble", new harmonies, and some glitchy background effects in the bridge. I'd hoped for a meatier bass synth in the chorus, but it still sounds awesome!
That distortion was there in the original lol, and the "glitchy background effects" are nearly identical to the indistinct guitar neck nuances in the original
