I graduated high school in 1987 and man that took me back. The cars and the girls. Great video and your Dad has a sweet VW. Glad he never changed it up from back then.

I figured I'd put this here. I just watched some coverage of the Pomona Roadster Show 2022. I was quite excited to see your Dad's, and his friends VDubbs in a show case display there. Very Cool Stuff. Nice recognition.

Very cool. I had the Hot VW's issue with your dad's car featured. A lot of the sweet VW's featured in magazines have sold and shipped over seas where the new owner resides. Trust me, a lot. Show cars and race cars. Plenty of wicked race bugs built in California are over seas somewhere, some being from way back in the 70's when the VW movement was really gaining in popularity and momentum.
Gary Berg sold his '67 street bug which stayed here in the states, guys name is Rick Zavala. As I recall it sold for $20k. That same car today would command WAY more than that. The engine alone easy $10k, 5 speed transaxle perhaps $2.5-$3k, original BRM Speedwell magnesium wheels-I don't have a clue but Gene Berg told me one time back in '83 or '84 the last set he knew of for sale the price was $500 (!) per wheel.
Point is there's been a demand for the VW's if a person was (is) inclined to sell their ride, etc.
Two thumbs up, way up, for your dad and the other dude as well for hanging on to their Bugs. They are old school cool and, imo, irreplaceable.
On a side note I heard you comment in the '70(?) Mopar/Charger. I had a friend from high school, he owned 2 or 3 Chargers. A '68 and a '69 for sure. Black and the other red. Mopars prices are off the charts. WTF?!
Another and one of my all time favorite cars that I'm way too tall to sit in never mind drive is the Detomaso Pantera. I think they go for about $120k now, new they were $10k. Oddly enough, during the covid bullsh¡t their value went up 20%. Probably because guys who were sitting on the fence about buying one thought I better get off my @$$ and chase my dream before they kill us all, the world comes to an end, or both😮🙄.

Nice bugs built in 1987,I remember those at vw shows back in the day. I still got my 1959 vw bug the way it was built back in 1984 still same color. Seeing those bugs at the el Prado show brought back some good memories of the 80's. Best times ever. Glad I was there.

I remember seeing your Dad's car in the valley I probably still have the magazine very cool keep the cool content coming you bring back some good memories. I miss Van Nuys Wensday nights. Friday Bob's. Saturday BOA midnight some good street races. Thanks Ben for keeping it alive
