You're wrong. The Gulf of Tonkin incident was fabricated to justify U.S. involvement in the war. The U.S. installed Ngo Dinh Diem as a puppet president in South Vietnam, advocating for the entry of American troops. The media often cites communism as the reason for our involvement, but the real motive was to access oil and exploit Vietnam's resources. Sadly, many soldiers lost their lives for a cause that was unjustified.

Both my dad and my father-in-law served tours of duty in Vietnam. My dad was drafted, and neither of them wanted to be there. They're both ashamed of the things they were compelled to do. Vietnamese people are very kind and hospitable. Back in the day my aussie friend went over with me to finally marry his wife there. He needed someone to break the ice and warm things up with his wife's family. Poor guy was nervous. So I did what we Australians do best. I grabbed some beers with them and threw on my laid back Australian culture and had them laughing all night whilst having a great piss up. It was a very successful night. idk about shot but they would probably assume you're a salesman, or if you don't speak english then they will probably assume you're an illegal immigrant. under the right circumstances though Americans are very much willing to help others as well. they just have to work through their fears first.
