- Hello to all. This video is the second part of my 3rd week of deer hunting. Traditionally this is what we call "RUT" week. This is the time when most bucks seem to be looking for a doe in heat. There is the pre-rut and post-rut but where I hunt in Maine, I have gotten most of my deer during this week because the bucks are pushing the does and the bucks are moving the most looking for does. I have been looking for spots I can sit in my truck this week because it has gotten much colder and me being a paraplegic who can not feel much of my lower extremities I need to be safe. I use distance to help hide my scent and my newest long-range rifle. My dream rifle is the Christensen Arms Mess LR in 7mm rem mag. I have done my best to stack as many odds in my favor. Believe me, after the shot I was shaking too. When he was broadside looking my way in the ditch my cross hairs were on him but there was just too much brush in the way. I was hoping he would get up onto the road and give me a broadside shot there. When he jumped onto the road and he sure looked like he was going to run down the road away from me so before the angle got any worse I put it on his shoulder and the &mm Rem Mag did the rest. It all happened so fast and we had to bring the deer right to the butcher because my brother was leaving for a hunt in Anticosti island Canada the next day. That must have been some exciting hearing him thrash the brush after grunting at him. You held it together pretty good waiting for just the right moment to let the lead fly. Thank you so much! That buck was a long time coming. The largest deer I shot before that was in the early 80s and it dressed out at 196 lbs. Finally got my 200+ ponder patch buck. Sometimes it just works out video footage and all. It was an exciting moment.

Good morning Shane, What a great shot! :) I am so happy for you buddy I was so open that you would have some luck with your 200 plus pound deer. Congratulations for 208 pounds. :) You're one of the few hunters that I know that work very hard at hunting. You make your own luck by putting the time in very impressive setting there all day.
This was a great video someone left me a comment saying how awesome it was to see a plan come full circle.
Now I'm saying it to you how awesome it is to see your plan come full circle with a monster buck like that beautiful rack.

@@ABCDExperience that deer was shot in 2022 along with a doe during muzzleloader season. I wasn’t able to tag anything g in 2023. Hopefully I have better luck for 2024. I appreciate you watching

Thank you so much! I had one a ton of scouting for this season. Fuel prices kept me out of KI for most of the season. I have watched the wind way more and paid more attention to a lot of things this year. I guess it all worked out
It looked like you shot that buck out the driver’s side window, which I know is legal for you, did you shoot him left handed? Tough shot to lean out there enough to shoot right handed I would think. Great shot by the way! Dropped him in his tracks! No tracking required. Ha ha

Thank you so much for watching. Believe me, when I start editing the videos I edit a lot of stuff out that would make them a lot longer but with nothing to show. There are many many long hours with absolutely nothing happening. If you hunt I am sure you know that. FINALLY got a buck over 200 lbs. It just feels like a dream now it all happened so fast.I still have a doe tag to try and fill now.

Thank you so much for watching. Yes the 7mm rem mag did just what I was hoping in that situation. I being disabled was not looking forward to dragging a big deer anywhere. The hornady 154gr sst did its job perfectly. I was able to get a doe last year as well. I think the video is “ last days of muzzleloader season” thank you so much for watching. It means a lot to me to hear from people. I do not have a lot of subscribers therefore I do not make hardly any money and the time and $ it takes to make the videos I am not getting rich let’s say at the very least. Been watching your channel for a while now I don’t know how I’m just seeing this now. Best video I’ve watched in a long time. You had the patience to wait him out . They look so huge in the road without any trees or brush. I shoot a 7mm mag also . My last 4 deer dropped just like yours. Thank you! That deer was 40+ years of hunting. 32 years of it as me being a Paraplegic hunter. I don't know what happened last season but somehow my luck changed. I was finally able to get my patch buck and I also get my first deer with a muzzleloader that year at the end of muzzleloader season as well. That is also the first year I had ever gotten 2 deer in one year. It was a truly blessed year of hunting.

Wow, what a great shot! And I was so surprised that you're hunting literally on the road! I guess you know the area and what the bucks do during the rut up in Maine. Congratulations. And no tracking or dragging, shot him right near your truck! This is a perfect baby boomer hunt!
Thank you! I drove down to the end of the road early that morning which was only another 500-600 yards down the road. I also knew about the trail that was there. I had watched it before. I am a paraplegic and am allowed to hunt from the truck as long as it is not moving. I was there from about 6 am to 2:00 when I shot the deer. There was a lot of sign in that area and I figured there was a great place to try because it was so far down the road. I was probably 15 miles down a multitude of roads hoping for the best.
