i look at michelangelo, he is the master at anatomy. Frank Frazetta gets his knowledge from Bridgeman (even the knees), and Bridgeman is based on michelangelo. so the prime source is michelangelo. look at the sistine chapel and last judgement

Bridgeman guide to anatomy is an amazing tome of knowledge. You can download the PDF free if you have never used it

@ yeah Bridgman books are amazing it’s the book everyone should look at for anatomy, I gotta make another video on that subject

Dude, you re are so right. I’ve been drawing Frank frazetta stuff for the past 3 weeks and I’ve seen more improvement in my understanding of anatomy over that time than anything in the last 6 months

Yeah same with me, I’ve been more towards Simon bisley recently but their all good picks to learn and study from
I’ve improved quickly studying these guys

Here is a good tip of you want to "test" your knowlege of anatomy. Using a 3D modeling software like Blender or Nomad sculpt, just attempt to sculpt a realistic bodybuilder. As you turn the camera and shape things you are going ti begin to see the holes in your anatomy knowledge. "Wait where does this exactly connect? This figure is slightly hunched so wouldnt this back muscle stretch here?" It has been an eye opener for me as I have had to continually refer to references on areas i thought i had on lock.

@@DerrickBarrows absolutely! That’s probably one of the best ways to strengthen your underlying anatomy knowledge
I’ll keep that in mind, for another video

So, the arm on that Wolverine is super impressive. The twist/fold of the bicept muscle is a completely real interpretation that often gets missed or is usually just indicated by a quick mark. Im a little hung on the pec joining to the bicep at that point, doesnt the chest join to the shoulder? I believe the upper side cluster of chest muscle joins and makes up the bottom/inside part of the shoulder, correct?

@@DerrickBarrows I think it looks fine, it shows how the pec connects at the shoulder and kinda folds under the arm pit it might be a tad bit elongated but I think it’s perfectly fine from an anatomy standpoint

Plus it shows the striations that divide the pec into three parts
