Very helpful video, thank you. Would you mind telling me what gauge wire you used to connect the battery to the fuse box and fuse box to the accessories please? I’m in the process of wiring my Coastliner and your system looks to be exactly what I need. Many thanks, Nick
Hi Nick, a Coastliner, fine choice. First a disclaimer : I'm not an electrician. However I used 35mm2 tinned cable which was around £10 per metre between the battery, through the on / off switch and up to fuse box. I think that's AWG 2? Having everything in that box protects it from the elements, keeps it neat and avoids making lots of holes in the console. Good luck with your project and enjoy the Coastliner.
@@anotherangleUK Thank you Phil, that’s very kind of you. Don’t worry I won’t hold you responsible! I’ve struggled to work out the correct gauge. I’ve unashamedly copied your set up although I haven’t got the steering console, so I’ll mount the box on the seat at the front of the cuddy. Thanks for the videos, they’re very entertaining and informative!
Thank you, have you had to replace the electric system whilst restoring your boat? One of my previous boats had an old amateur wiring system that was always causing problems.
Very neat indeed ! ...... when i needed more switches got a panel fitted on the left side of the helm facing port side , often walk past and catch the swithches ! this is a much tidier way. Another useful upgrade is a twin battery set up for peace of mind something i will always have.
Thanks. This design has been working well for me and in a small boat like mine any switches on the side of the helm would certainly be at risk of me bashing them.
Thanks, I forgot to say in the video that some of the initial work on wiring the box was done on the workbench which made life easier. Stay safe on your own boat. Phil.
Thanks. I did some wiring on my kayak. I've a small 12 volt battery in a food container which runs the Garmin Striker 4 sounder. Think there is some detail on my kayak fitting out video.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the videos of an average angler having fun.
Looking good! All part of a fun hobby! CHEERS from HERE!

@@anotherangleUK Yes with several boats over the years.
great channel love the nice neat wiring in the box
Thanks for watching and the kind comments. Can't be doing with spaghetti wiring - keep it neat and labelled. Phil.
Makes my little electric system look very amateur Phil!!! Thats a very nice and neat system, cheers for the run through and opening the main bax!
Thanks. I resisted saying "What's in the box?" Hopefully give other people a few ideas for their own projects.

A very nice set up.

👌even though I’ve not got a boat Phil I found this very interesting. Great video and hope to see you soon.
Thanks, we'll have to plan another adventure somewhere. 👍
Great vid and very interesting I am in the south of England and been wiring my kayak so this vid has helped alot

Yiv made a graan job o that Phil looks very neat, very interesting tae watch bud 👍
Thanks 👍. Another advantage of a fourteen footer - short(ish) wiring runs 😃
Great informative vid Phil, thanks.
P.s I used to start a 150hp outboard by pulling it, I couldn't afford to buy a new starter 😂
Thanks. My old 15hp two stroke could be a horror to start. These new four stroke efi outboards fire up first pull.
@@anotherangleUK I have only ever had a couple of 4 stroke outboards and didn't keep them long but yes they ran and started great
So you're a two smoke man then. I liked the way the 2 stoke revved like heck but never got on with the smells.
very neat and tidy Phil well done, im sure it will help some one out on how to do it, keep them coming,
Thanks. I'm a bit of a neat nick and like things clean, neat and organised - I just wish I could say the same for the garden and car 🤣
