Last time I built a full house it was timber frame so had the roof already on which meant facia , soffit and bloody tiles all on already . A rough face rustic brick with black mortar ( delivered in an 8 ton skip !) The worst was we had to cut up the pikes and get a brick on edge all the way up , so hard . No wonder it was the last one 😳. Nice work on those pikes , nice looking bricks 🧱👍🏼
Nice brickwork. Why was the blockwork not half bonded? Also fully cut around the ladders so to go flush with the top or 10mm down. We normally stick a tie out every course on the gable ends to help fully support the fire sock.
It’s a bit like that favourite chair 😋 In the 70s it was always a contest who could spread the longest with one trowel of compo or which carrier could fan the most bricks out on the hod and carry the most brick ect .I think them days are gone except for a few heroes and if you look after your kit and have the right balance of trowel why not ? Keep the vids coming dude .
I have to make a hop up to get on a hop up 😂I tried to get 250 mph out of my transit on the M4 I got to 80 flat out but I asked the police man if it goes to court can he say I was doing a ton ? Nice gable 👍
fine work. Problem is I am rebuilding my wifes house. Which brings a whole new problem for me. Now the neighbours have seen my work on her house which was in very bad condition. I am basically restructuring the walls as bricks are either missing or dissolved. Now for the horrible part.!!!! The neighbours have volentered my service to throw up a gable out of brick on their house. This leads to another problem. I am not skilled in this job at all. i have Repaired my wifes foundation > that required restructed walls ontop > that required 2 skin walls to be in full repair mode > leads to the brick double archway to be repaired ontop of that which finally lead to the other part of the substraight wall, which started to seperate its brick - through out the length of the house.. all because the foundation broke because of a leaking roof for over 10 years. Now to the neighbours - Do I even suggest on yer bike to the neighbour or help them out knowing they don't have a roof to hold up because of no end gable, because they are poor. when i mean poor, i mean BROKE ass poor. bread and water poor, maybe even worse than that. You make this job look so easy I fell i have no confidence. What if the gable falls on someone, yea know...!!! If you insist yes help out, do you opt a double skin brick wall or 1 skin with a void trap like yours. The is a bungelow type house with a dodgy extension...... pls guide the hopeless here.
@DANDNB yeah they are a bit flimsy I agree and rose look just the job I started with my grandfathes WHS trowel he baught about two years before he died WHS stamped on it twelve inch narrow London it's paid for my house fed my family and my pension and I've got a good eight inches left 😁but yeah w rose is a good choice 👍

Nice job.
Great vid Ginger . I noted a comment on a previous vid regarding trowel size ....A well used trowel is perfect for this application 💪👍
Thanks I don’t see the problem it’s what I’m used to now.

Hi .I'm new to bricklaying what is your advise to which trowel should I buy ox or marshalltown ?thanks
Good question having used both I still prefer marshalltown trowels. I got a size 11 trowel
And what is the different between London vs Philadelphia please . Thanks
