"When I'm too weak to fight my memories, the past will always haunt me...All the ghosts I've left behind, they've been waiting here--there's no escape!" I love this translation.
It's curious to hear Maxims feelings and point of view...you know? You just never get to know what maxim is feeling, he's always bottled up and secretive. hearing him talk about his new wife like she was an angel who could save him was new to me. Found that to be quite refreshing and pleasantly suprising.
If this came back to West end or Broadway (for real no scam, like if they got the rights again) I'd love to hear Ramin Karimloo as Maxim, he'd blow this song out of the park
I love dark brooding Europe originating musicals like this one, Count if Monte Cristo (this song and Maxim's other song gives me some Hell to your doorstep vibes) Les Mis (that was French originally) and others.
Uwe Kroger IS my Maxim de Winter. When I read the book, I pictured him as Maxim XD This is AMAZING!!!! Am I the only one who hopes he gets brought to Broadway to play Maxim?
Apparently this scene was originally supposed to be where Hilf Mir Duch Die Nacht is now showing Maxim unable to sleep and I’m honestly glad that they decided to put it where they did in the actual show, in the show he’s about to run after Ich but he realizes what he’s done and was about to do and feels extreme remorse towards her and hate and uncertainty towards himself. I can tell with these lyrics that he does love Ich but he honestly doesn’t know how to put it to words so he puts up a front of knowing exactly what to say as well as a wall of anger to hide everything he’s gone through. He knows he wants to better himself and he feels that Ich will be able to help him along the way but in this song you can tell he’s losing hope.
I’d say Thomas Borchert could pull this off pretty well if this show eventually goes back to Austria or ends up getting another shot at Broadway EDIT: Wow I’m an idiot he already played Maxim in 2012 😂
Absolutely agree. Presumably translating the song title "Gott, Warum?" to "Why God?" would be creeping on Miss Saigon's turf, but "Oh My God I'm Such A Fool"??! What hideous lyrics. Do we know who I translating/re-writing for Broadway. Also think this show will need new orchestrations for it to survive in English-speaking countries.
aha. That is really sad, because then he had a bad day, this sounds not really awesome. Don't know want he had done to his voice to sing so badly...think rehearsing for the Phantom...bah, no, not his normal quality.

Uwe is just the best Maxim :3
I love the song in German, but in English is it also nice.
In my onpinion, the translation is good.

Uwe, you kill me! He speaks my language *sigh*

I'll also be there on sunday - looking so much forward....!
Where I can find the lyrics? I will it cover pls x3 Thanks!
So do I!!! I also think now think Brent Barrett would also make a good Maxim too.
I still like him and think that he is the best musical actor ever!
I know!!! I think Uwe or Hugh Panaro are the ONLY ones who can pull off the part well XD but Uwe's the BEST!!!
H never played him but I would kill to see Ramin Karimloo playing the role

the best Maxim??
Who else do you have heard yet?? Where can I find somebody else singing it??
think it always fits the language best in which it was originally ment to be, doesn't it
Btw are you able to upload an English version of 'Beyond the night'? (Jenseiuts der Nacht)
Alexis Grey I look for it too
A friend and I wrote English lyrics for “Jenseits” and we might do a cover of it at some point but they aren’t really the best

he sings different in english... but i love him anyway... ^^
Is there a production in English or one with english subtitles
Bah, I prefer his german version. That's much better! Isn't that And´re Bauer, the second one? Well I'll watch them both on sunday ;)
Uwe is so great but I prefer it in german... the melody sounds different than in German...
That's probilly true but I WISH he would come here XD
I think he is it.
Why did Uwe Kröger this recording?
