I think this is the most meditative game oriented channel you can find. I really like the style of your videos. Even though it seems to be just simple screen capture. You have a very pleasant way of explaining things.

13:30 check out the magic craft wiki page on duet. you’ll see there that thunderstorm (and other multi-hit spells) does not inherit duet damage at a 1.0 ratio per tick the way that lightning dash does. The only spells which inherit duet damage at a 1.0 ratio (or in the case of skull of Cthulhu 1.7 ratio) are boomerang blade and lightning dash. this is why lightning dash is the ideal delivery mechanism for this build. It comes with a really high crit rate, it follows the cursor exceptionally fast compared to other spells, and it gains the most from duet.
in other words, other spells will take the inherited damage from duet and divide by the number of ticks that lasts for. thus granting the duet damage to the final damage of the spell. In contrast for whatever reason lightning dash applies the damage from duet to every single tick. meaning each tick of lightning dash is like being hit with a brand new shining star arrow
that’s such an interesting interaction. i guess because in most situations they don’t expect you to be casting it so much since you typically are inside the lightning dash

1:04:47 the reason why placing placing the multishot+ after shining star arrow (SSA) rather than before is multiplication vs addition. you already have a multishot (+1 projectile or 2 total) in front of SSA, so when you cast it creates 2 SSAs. following this, duet casts lightning dash (LD) with multishot+ (+2 projectiles or 3 total).
2 SSAs, each producing 3 LDs, gives you 6 LD projectiles.
in contrast, if you put both multishots in front of the SSA, it ADDS the multishot effect together: +1 and +2 projectiles respectively. that gives you 4 SSAs, each producing 1 LD, gives you total 4 LDs. same goes for if you put both multishots after the SSA instead. 1 SSA, producing 4 LDs, gives you total 4 LDs.
4 vs 6 LDs, by separating them you expect to see ~50% more damage compared to having them on the same side of SSA. its hard to make out, but when you're experimenting with both multishots in front of SSA, the highest number I can see is actually 2.8 million. if we multiply 2.8mil by 150%, then we should expect to see 4.2 million when you separate the multishots. this is confirmed by the max DPS recorded on the dummy coming out to be 4.167 million, or roughly 4.2 million.
to summarize, separating multishots by duet allows them to multiply by each other rather than add, hence why you you see significantly more damage when you do so! hope that makes sense :D

in the end you should have removed the +0 multi shot and had the +1 multi shot before the star ,you could have had that magic upgrade between +1 multi shot and +1 volley it would have given you exponentially more value ,sure the number of lightning dash would reduce from 6 from each tick to 5 from each tick but you are also expending way less mana and charge up way more in the long run,i would also suggest you to not use +0 overload as they have a +100% mana for only +50 boost
i got used to taking overload once I have energetic orb and vines, maybe I should take some time and really consider how much mana I wanna spend even when I have that much. good point!

The beginning of this build makes me want to see a Diablo2 Barb WW build. Lots of super fast spinning weapons rotating around you with some sort of self healing

Your problem is the way you use the multipliers, you want to put them between individual spells because it stacks multiplicatively rather than additively. I had almost the exact same build last night without the charge shot and the highest my DPS got was 500k but I wasn't really trying to one shot everything lol

I need to check if the Volly with books summoning books summoning books goes out of control filling the screen still works after the 1.0 update. If it does then using the troll with it will be fun.
i wonder if giving them troll blood works on the nested books too
@bwhatsonn you can test that for yourself with an indescriminate damage spell with its damage reduced by batteries. But since most spell boost effects state that they affect every spell to the right, it should.

Me starting out with 10h in find it hard to know what to look for or what spells to use. Hopefully the knowledge sets in soon, so i can get as good as this

how did you learn all about build crafting, or would you say it just came with playing the game for a long time, sorry if you've answered this before never seen your videos before.
it's a combination of 3 things:
1. finding builds that work and then tinkering with them in the training area
2. playing way too much
3. backseaters lmao

What is the snake that follows you?
Very fun build, yet feels way to similar to speed running. I was thinking about Giant troll, which does 10x the HP of another sommon (I don't think it scales with duet though have not tried). So if you had some autocasting troll blooded soullinked head of chutulu to shoot out, the troll damage would be very nice.
For hammers there are at least 2 builds to go for: either full map madness wtih size + splits + multi, or if you are lucky to get the unique spell, you can condense the hammers and get more damge. Mimic that if possible and have some autowand go around with the God's fist around.
i think i needed to do this run, i’ve been learning a lot about how the star arrow duet pair works and it was nice to fully execute on it with no time constraints
