Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before. They are Su-metal (lead vocalist) and Moametal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in).
The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues. Su and Moa have continued as a duo since then, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers) dancing in the third spot (it has been the same one, Momoko, since 2020 - they are teasing the reveal of a new third member in April - it may well be her).
BABYMETAL started in 2010 as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin. As members of that group they would sing songs and dance, the sub-units (like after school clubs) would also have their own themed songs (tennis, cooking, science etc). BABYMETAL were the heavy music club and they were formed around Su-metal's extraordinary vocal talents and stage presence - she was still only 12 but their producer, Kobametal, had seen her a year or two before singing with her previous Jpop trio and was so impressed that he was inspired to create some sort of Metal-pop fusion if he could work with her and have her front the band.
In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from Sakura Gakuin (having the school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her vehicle as she furthered her career as a vocalist and should separate from the Idol group to go with her as an independent band in their own right.
BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too.
They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They were phased in gradually from October 2012, BABYMETAL had started with little or no extra budget so they sang to a backing track at the start and when they started doing their own small shows the guys in skeleton suits (Babybones - they were in this video) would pretend to play the instruments.
The Kami Band played at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. 'Gimme Chocolate' was filmed at the Legend 1997 concert (Su-metal's 16th birthday party) in December 2013, this was the last big show where the Babybones appeared and the Kami Band played only the encores. The Kami Band became the full time support for all live shows at the start of 2014 and have been with BABYMETAL ever since - but only for live shows, they do not record the studio versions.
They have about 60 songs now, every one of them is different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song try another, the chances are you'll love it. 'Gimme Chocolate' is one of the songs that really can go either way, some love it, some hate it ... they have deep songs and other fun songs, none of them quite like 'Gimme Chocolate'.
Jake Muller has given you a couple of good suggestions for more reactions, we will have a load more to follow on from those.

SUGOI !! LOVE BABYMETAL !!! Yes, she's correct, Su-metal is the leader of the group! Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto), Moametal (Moa Kikuchi), & Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) were 11 & 12 years old in 2010 when they started BABYMETAL. Yui (no longer in the group) is currently 23, as is Moa. Su turned 25 in December. They invented their own genre called "kawaii" (cute) metal and have been one of the world's greatest LIVE groups over the last decade.

Hey guys, nice first reaction. This song is a bit of an oddball as you noticed. While the "core" ... spirit I guess is the word or essence of Babymetal is in this song, this song is VERY pop'ish and is normally used more for the shock reactions it gets because of the huge divisive counterpoints of the pop and metal. If you want a more "regular" version of Babymetal that is less shock-therapy, I'd recommend a few tracks. Megitsune, Headbanger, Karate are all pretty good tracks to check out to see if you like what these young ladies have to offer. If you react to these songs you're going to notice something about this band which makes them kind of special. No 2 songs sound alike. This band likes to experiment and mix genres. The one common core is the Metal aspect, but they also like switching that up, using different types of metal. You mentioned the musicians. In this song the music was a backing track for this video. Babymetal was still too new to the scene and couldn't afford a real band, so they got the backing track and did their thing and hired some actors to pretend to play the instruments. Whenever you see the "musicians" in the skeleton suits you'll know its the fake band. That being said, the band Babymetal eventually got truly IS an epic band. If you'd like to see what they're all about, I'd recommend reacting to Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of gods intro.
Now onto the introduction of the girls. The group started in 2010. The main singer was 14 and the 2 dancers were 12 when they started. In this video, I think the singer had just turned 16 and the 2 girls were 14. The main singer is named Su-Metal. She'll always be wearing a ponytail and she'll always be the once with the handheld mic. She also has one heck of a deadly deathglare which she displays on occasion during concerts. Kind of feel sorry for her future husband when he gets into trouble lol .
Next up we have the 2 dancers, Yuimetal and Moametal. They look similar enough that most people have a hard time telling them apart and some have just starting calling them the twins even though they aren't related. Anyhow, They will always have their hair done in pigtails. Moametal, known as the princess of love, has huge dimples when she smiles, and she smiles often. She is also a bit of a prankster and is always trying to do little things even during concerts to try and make Su-Metal laugh. Moa is also VERY emotional, which, depending on how far you travel through the Babymetal universe you'll come to learn. Next up we have Yuimetal. Like Moa, Yui also will have her hair in pigtails, both Yui and Moa will also have handsfree mics attached to the side of their faces. Yui doesn't have dimples like Moa, but Yui DOES have huge chubby baby cheeks which she is very fond of. Yui is also known as the Tomato princess, as she loves tomatoes to the point where she eats them like you or I would eat an apple. As such in the comments if you find somebody mention Yui, oftentimes they'll throw in a tomato emoji.
Sadly in 2018 Yuimetal quit Babymetal due to undisclosed health reasons. That year was a very difficult time for Babymetal as not only did Yui leave, but they had also lost their lead guitarist who died in an accident (R.I.P. Mikio!). Babymetal didn't like the chemistry of just having the 2 of them. They felt they needed the trifecta. As such they hired 3 girls to fill in for Yui's spot during shows. These girls were known as the Avengers. They don't sing and don't have any mics. They just dance and support Moametal. You'll be able to tell the Avengers from Moa and Su again by their hairstyle. The Avengers won't have either pigtails, nor a ponytail. Instead their hair is let down and they have 2 buns where they WOULD have pigtails if they had pigtails.
I think you're going to like Babymetal since Dad liked this song. Also, Dad will like the fact that most of the songs that Babymetal sings actually have a positive message associated with the songs lyrics. Not all, but most. If they don't have a positive meaning, then they might just be silly songs Babymetal sings for fun (like this one. Gimmie Chocolate is just a song about girls loving and wanting to have chocolate but afraid to eat it as they may gain weight), or to add to the lore and story that Babymetal is building around themselves kind of like Rondo of Nightmare.
Anyhow, hopefully you enjoy your journey and looking forward to seeing you react to more Babymetal!

You seem to know a lot of babymetal. I thought they had to leave then they get to 16 and that there have been a lot of members over the years but in a different vid I read comments saying sumetal is still in the group and that got me confused.

    • @jeremyboynowski3784
      @jeremyboynowski3784 Год назад

@@Eldormen I don't know that I know a lot about them. I am very passionate about the band, this would be true. They have truly won me over. When I first heard about them through a youtube suggestion, I REALLY wanted to hate them. I thought, what a stupid name! And then I saw the picture of these 3 teenage girls that looked like they were barely teens if that even and I thought no way this will be good. So I put listening to them off for about a year. Finally one day I was bored and didn't know what I felt like watching so I figured now is as good a time as any to watch this stupid group and get a good laugh at how pathetically bad they'll sound. I was really closed minded at that time. Needless to say I was blown away eventuallly. I went through the usual 3 songs to realize I really liked them, but in the end they won me over. Especially Yui, the one that had to leave.
Anyhow, we know she left for medical reasons because she also wrote a farewell letter to her fans, apologizing for disappointing them and letting them down (her words. Might not be the exact words, but same meaning and intent). She went on to explain she also hopes to see us all again only this time not as Yuimetal, but as Yui Mizuno. So it is speculated that she will eventually do her own thing as a vocalist or something since she's still registered with Amaze. The company that manages Babymetal.
In terms of flat-out knowledge, I'd say your best best for answers would be Grington300 300 or Jake Muller, or Roadrunner. They seem to know way more than I ever will lol

    • @jeremyboynowski3784
      @jeremyboynowski3784 Год назад

@@Eldormen Oh, forgot to mention. You are kind of half right though about leaving at the age of 16. But it is actually 15ish I think and it isn't Babymetal, but it was Sakura Gakuin, where Babymetal was born. All 3 girls came from Sakura Gakuin. One of the teachers there heard Su singing (she wanted to be a JPop idol at the time) and knew her voice was way too powerful to be wasted on just JPop. Being a major metalhead who really wanted to revive metal in Japan he had the idea of creating a cute/metal/jpop fusion band and thus Babymetal was born. All around Su-metal. It is almost unheard of to create a band focused around the singer. Normally the band comes first and the singer is kind of the finishing touch. So when Su graduated from Sakura Gakuin, she, along with Moa and Yui, thought that was going to be the end of Babymetal. You can kind of see this through their last concert of Su still being part of Sakura Gakuin as Moa can be seen crying while performing their last couple of songs of the concert. It is also probably why Su was able to cry during the song Akatsuki Unfinished, she had a lot of mixed emotions at that time.

Nice reaction and welcome to the Fox hole!! The band you see here isn't an actual band. they are doing a great job of pretending to play instruments but not actually playing them. Later on in this very concert, the real band will appear and has been with them ever since. I would recommend checking out the song "Headbanger" (Legend 1997) from this same concert to see the live band. They are well worth it. They are fantastic.
Babymetal has a wide variety of songs s there is really something for everyone. Maybe your daughter would like something like 'Light and Darkness"?? It's just a guess. It's quite a bit more pop oriented. Or something from the first half of the Metal Galaxy album. Either way, Babymetal is an amazing live band so it is always recommended to watch their live performance videos. They put on epic shows.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy 🦊🤘🔥
Now they got a metalverse but that's a more recent era so highly recommend to just wait to get there but in case you wanna know, they already released 4 singles from upcoming album "The Other One", another is coming soon along with the album release, later they will held more live concerts and after that they will join Sabaton's Europe Tour as a special guests, they also announced a World Tour including US Festival like Blue Ridge, Louder Than Life and Aftershock this year, so get ready for more coz you don't wanna miss the opportunity to see this group live if you got the chance.
Dance choreography and metal had never been seen before and they somehow managed to make it works creating their unique own genre called kawaii-metal, mixing Jpop and heavy metal along with many more sub genres and rhythms, you'll have so much fun going through this journey.
However this isn't actually live version, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. They have their own band called Kami Band introduced later on that same show and after that Kami Band become regular at live performance.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, They are:
    *SuMetal* (lead vocals), now 25.
*MoaMetal* (scream and dance), now 23.
*YuiMetal* (scream and dance, former member since 2018)
    None of them are related.
This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"_
Some recommendations for next songs like:
    - _Catch Me If You Can_ live at Budokan 2014 (you got a safe to react version with subtitles at GuilhermeCait channel) or...
    - _Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!_ live at this same live performance Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title).
You have more than 50 songs and still more to come. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have *Babymetal Reactor Resource* channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them.
Is so good to see family enjoying BM and don't worry if you have an unattainable desire of dancing when watching BM songs, that's what they want and the whole point is to just have fun like this song, they just want some chocolate and they're worried about weight like any other normal girl.
    See you next time! 🦊🤘🍫

It's better described as "Kawaii-metal" - basically "cute metal".
This was quite early and they've had some line-up changes since then but Su-metal (Suzuke) has been a constant and I do like her vocals.
Yes, their backing band went through changes early on, basically 'session' musicians, but The Kami Band have been THE band for years, and they're regarded as one of Japan's top metal bands - and when you're talking Japan, that's a darned high bar!
I would suggest "Road of Resistance" next.
If the young lass likes more of a "rock" style, with musicians that are not only among the world's best individually, but as a band, with an outstanding main vocalist, may I suggest BANDMAID - almost anything will do, but the "Manners" and "Black Sun" might hit the spot for you both, or a couple of their latest tracks - "Influencer" and the instrumental "From Now On"?
Don't let the outfits fool you, a couple of the founding ladies were working in a "maids" themedbar/club and they thought it would be fun to mix the 'maids' and 'rock' as it seems a bit counter...
Oh, their channel - www.youtube.com/@BANDMAID/featured - usually their live shows are best.

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (who left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were only 10 when the group began.
All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life the girls would learn and train to be idols and graduate at age 15 to move onto whatever entertainment path they chose.
Kei Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues) and Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
Suggest reacting to BabyMetal LIVE as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Suggest reacting to these for a start.
Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls.
Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan
    Megitsune LIVE
Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro
Good luck and hope to see you again.

Most common words when reacting to BABYMETAL: phenomenal, epic, performance, stage presence, crowd control, voice and dance. WTF, dude, and bro do not apply. Know what I'm sayin! LOL

Afterthought: I guess it's understandable that you would refrain from posting videos of reactions that are less than favorable (it doesn't do the logarithm any good getting thumbs down, eh?). Nevertheless, it may not be a bad thing in the long run because it would give your followers an idea about what NOT to recommend in the future. Case in point: BABYMETAL is about to release their fourth album in three days (24 March 2023), and four of the ten songs on that album have already seen the light of day here on RUclips in one shape or form. Aside from the song "Divine Attack - Shingeki", I'm not at all impressed with this album so far (and I'm even a little iffy about "Divine Attack") - it isn't "BABYMETAL-ish". BABYMETAL's first two albums, and most of the third, made metal music fun, but it doesn't seem to be that way with this upcoming album: it's too bland and tries too hard to be epic.
And that's why I wouldn't mind seeing your reaction to some of BABYMETAL's latest material - to see if you two concur with my assessment.

I have to say it's a little odd that you feel the need for them to validate your opinion. Especially since they are only one song in.

Blackpink has the best Music Videos but I would give up front row seats of Blackpink for back row seats of Babymetal concerts.

If you like Black Pink, I would suggest checking out the group MAMAMOO, they are fantastic vocalists. Also if you like a little heavier kpop, their is a group called Dream Catcher that has many heavy kpop songs.

LOL - initial target audience for this - girl reaction hmmmmm....meh - father...awesome!! This is usually about the worst intro to babymetal (although I've come to love it) - if you survive this you're in for a real treat :D

I first heard to BM some 10 years. Despite being more into political angry punkrock, I kinda liked the catchiness of the songs. And I was really impressed by the drummer. But then I went back to my punkrock. Until a few months ago my son (20) started playing lotsa BM. And they've really matured. The songs now sound more serious and developed. They're no babies no more.
