  • On the evening of Wednesday, 2 Feb, Suits & Sneakers kicked off 2022 with its monthly events at The Tryst with a talk by the legendary John Vlismas called "I'm The Boss".
Please be advised, John uses strong language in this talk and his views are his own! We do love hosting people who bring different perspectives to the table and you should watch this talk with an open mind.
    WHAT IS JOHN'S TALK ABOUT?
John Vlismas has been trying to evolve. Studying and teaching at a top business school on topics such as Empathy, Disruptive Thinking Methods and Coding Influence in Narratives has kept him thinking for the last two years. He claims this is a vaccine against binarism.
His current thesis revolves around identity, perception, trust, and the distribution of power in the workplace. Two recent events resonate with this topic: Gareth Cliff’s online interaction with Mudzuli Rakhivane; and the release of the new Dave Chappelle comedy special, “The Closer”.
John explores what identities are made of, how they process information selectively, how this shapes the individual realities we occupy and what realities take precedence.
He looks at how power is awarded to identities - and suggests fluidity as one way to approach this complex issue. Delivered with mischievous curiosity and playful edginess, “I’m the Boss” might be a good time.

    Wow! Incredible talk.
I was a Vlismas fan when he was in comedy, and now I'm even more of a fan of him as a almost "philosopher".

Spoken like a new adherent to identify politics and CRT. This country has serious issues, viewing them through these lenses are unhelpful.
If his ideological tools aren’t as he states fair or safe on kids, why apply them to adults?
John, go have a look at the theory of enchantment.
