From the look on her face, you can see how enraptured she was in Valentino’s arms. It was literally the highlight of her career and entire life.
She saw heaven right before she went to heaven.

You see this video and hear the comments, especially from women and you realize he was totally unique. All this from a man who never uttered a word on screen! To Express all that sensuality without the medium of sound sets Valentino apart from every other star to this day. Even Elvis had the benefit of music and sound to set his star ablaze. Valentino was the star among stars for all time.

I love watching Rudy dancing, acting and exercising.
I guess I just love looking at Rudy's perfect face with his lovely soulful eyes and beautiful dimpling smile.

I've watched a lot of Valentino movies, and I came to the conclusion that one of his key traits for attraction is that he is so adorable, almost like a little puppy dog. Of course he's very handsome. But I think he was really a romantic at heart and very much a person who loved in spite of his problems. But what makes him any different than the rest of us in this world. Sometimes we can be very good people but still have problems finding someone who loves us in the same way that we need to be loved. And I think RV was no exception. I think his newly-acquired great Fame and extreme attractiveness made it just that much harder for him.

I can watch this video over and over again but I can't give it more "likes". You did such a great job synchronizing the music and the dance. And moreover, you had the sensibility to join the latin spirit around this whole scene. Rudy, a little italian guy, sensational Beatrice´s Spanish origin (La Bella Sevilla), Spanish Xavier Cugat (from Cataluña) directing the musical band, Spanish Blasco Ibañez (Valencia) novel, Argentina as the place where it all happens, ...and mix it up with current Spaniard´s music...I just love it.

Which would make him around 5ft - 10 or 11.
He was tallish considering people tended to be shorter on those days.

Me too, it is mesmerizing to watch and study every move. Rudy has such appeal (and she is a beautiful dancer as well); it is almost like you are in the cantina there with them, even though this was filmed 99 years ago! I love when the audience rises to their feet when he swings her off of the floor, it is so palpable - like you really are there !
Every time I watch this video my heart still melts. The song is also perfect for this dance sequence. I wish I could hit the like button more than once. I have shown this to friends and we all agree that there is something eternal about this man. I really can't think of anyone that even comes close. One of a kind that's for sure. What a gift.

It is almost as though it was his destiny to live a short, but very sweet life in which he would be immortalized in the hearts and minds of women for generations to come.
Just finishing the book (at archive.org, downloaded to my Kindle)....I think Julio's dancing the tango is one or two sentences in the book...the expanded the dancing sequence in the movie along with the role in general once they saw Rudy in action...
Beatrice is so enchanting. It's so sad she died during the filming of movie.
I think she actually died after filming, but just before the movie premiered....appendicitis/sepsis...she was so young! Only a few years later, Rudy would die pretty much of sepsis as well...uncontrolled infection post-op.
Thank you for this beautiful video, it is so magnificent to see them dance, it lifts my heart so much right now to watch their amazing talent and grace. There was no one that came close to Rudy in terms of style, grace, elegance, physical gifts/dancing. He was so amazingly far ahead of his time, if he only knew how his legacy has endured when so many others have been forgotten-- and to think during his time he was not taken seriously by too many just because of his Italian/continental heritage and customs and it caused him great distress. But his star shines brighter than all of the others of his time and to this day- he was the first superstar and that can never be taken away from him and it rises above all of his detractors that caused him such pain (and ulcers/health problems). He is truly timeless. RIP sweet Rudy.

@Barbara Shernoff Awww, thank you for your kind words. SO true about Rudy, he was an enormous talent beyond his colossal physical attributes/appeal and extraordinary masculine grace. He was VERY much a superb and uniquely gifted actor - and with all of those rare and precious gifts - without any of the trappings of egotism; but instead a very sweet and sensitive man, clearly dedicated and faithful to the women he truly loved - such a rarity in the entertainment industry and which contradicts any image of "Latin Lover/Latin Lothario" stereotype (that cruel stereotype and more prevalent then) that by all indications, Rudy was certainly NOT in any way. Unfortunately even with Rudy's unparalleled status as the most recognized and beloved/ worldwide film star of his day (and beyond), he was still the target of viscous rumors, innuendo, and malicious gossip - of which under different circumstances (i.e., speculation /gossip about other actors that were American/Anglo actors ) - that type of ~slander~ would never have seen the light of day and likely quashed from the get-go, whether actually truthful or not. (Errol Flynn comes to mind - this even after Flynn's heyday was a few good years after Rudy with the benefit of a potentially more enlightened society, only later/posthumously a good deal of very unflattering stories and controversy about Flynn and not really any talk of this when he was alive). But not so with our Rudy. Ultimately the unfair controversy and attacks on Rudy took him from us way much too young, while others like Flynn "swash buckled" their way through their messy private lives at times (he was "acquitted" of statutory rape and then there was the womanizing, drugs, just some egregious and lurid tales about Flynn...) a star with what appears to be a grandiose sense of entitlement probably going back to a privileged upbringing among other contributors (or shall I say NON-contributors) to Flynn's character. Flynn was overwhelmingly protected by the studios and the powers that be -- which was clearly the polar opposite of what Rudy experienced in terms of treatment by the studios which turned their backs on him and gave him soooooo much pain and grief. All in all a travesty of enormous magnitude of how the most beloved and incontestably preeminent celebrity of his day and having such remarkable achievement and status during his life that would ultimately catapult him to the most premier cinema legend of all time - could not escape a system that perpetuated overt prejudicial and unfair treatment of non-Anglos in the most destructive form in that it ultimately took sweet ❤️❤️❤️ Rudy ❤️❤️❤️away from us.

Valentino could give tango lessons to the man who invented the dance!! He was as graceful and lithe as a jungle cat. No star ever possessed the natural presence before a camera like Rudolph Valentino had. Whether melting women's hearts with a fleeting glance or a dance so graceful, it made Fred Astaire look clumsy. Dont ever forget this singular fact. Valentino is the only idol so naturally magnetic he didn't even need words!! Based on his beautiful singing voice, its likely that his speaking voice would have been as lyrical as his movements were. His only real setback was the terrible racism of that era. Caucasian males envious of an Italian immigrant with the world at his feet. Even devoid of sound, the world will never see his like again.
