      reminds how we pranked a friend, like 20 years ago. He was (and is) a smart guy and was an "A" student. We all learned by heart (or wrote on a little piece of paper) the definition of parsec, and started talking about it. He was baffled and couldn't follow. "But how cannot you remember, we learned that at school, as we were 12"

      @rgwholt 4 года назад +8

      @@michelnguyen4819 I think you are confused too , there were 8 mounted regiments of the imperial guard , including the Dragons de la Garde Imperiale , and the Dragoons were not mounted Artillery , they were originally mounted infantry who would dismount to fight and were armed with a firearm known as a "Dragon"

    • @lesenfantsterribles6898

      @@rgwholt French Guard Mamelukes, French empress dragoons and French Cuirassiers were wicked looking. Yeah Dragoons were like carabiniers that mainly rode into battle and fought as a foot soldier or fight on horseback. Chasseurs à cheval were straight up mounted musket/riflemen and could fight in melee on horseback. And then you had these badass guys, the Grenadiers à Cheval de la Garde Impériale. French, dutch, polish lancers. Cheval is "horse" in French. The French had some serious units in their cavalry. 🇫🇷💂🤙

    • @rgwholt
      @rgwholt 4 года назад +2

      @@lesenfantsterribles6898 No my friend , Dragoons were not Carabiners , who always dismounted to fight and carried a Carbine rifle, by the time the Napoleonic wars, Dragoons were light Cavalry , equipped with a Light cavalry sabre and probably a pair of saddle pistols. As light cavalry they would be employed mostly in outpost duties , screening infantry columns when deploying messengers and of course as the provost Marshalls mounted Police.

    Dragoons are not mounted artillery, they are ranged mounted infantry who often ride horses to battle but dismount and form a firing line b4 attacking. Furthermore the expert said it was a curassier's sword who are heavy cavalry who charge the enemy with their swords not shoot them from a distance like dragoons did.
    Yes dragoons also used swords and curasiers used pistols but each formation served a different purpose on the field of battle.

    Think about this: The history channel contacts collectors to come on the show to bring in pieces to teach people about history. These collectors have no intention to sell and the items only make an appearance to create content. If these people were interested in selling they wouldn't go to a pawn shop that would low-ball them. Once again this is a television show trying to create content.

      Well they have apparently lost thousands before due to the expert, because they offer much higher than the original bid if it actually is something of value. I don't think their experts would be that unprofessional. The reason to ask what they want before the expert gives the valuation is to know where in the ball park they are.

    Lol the history portion in this show is so scripted. It’s like they give Chum a paper and tell him to study

    Uhm Dragoon is mounted infantry not artillery. By the time of Napoleon it was pretty much cavalry with extra infantry training. Experts.....

    For anyone who still doesn't believe this is all scripted and they're filming on a set, not the real store:
    1:98 woman with purple handbag at counter in background
    2:01 camera cuts and same woman walks behind seller
    2:05 camera cuts again and woman teleports back to her original location

    Did he say mounted artillery? Poor horses having to carry canons. They were mounted infantry. They would hop off the horses and fight on foot.
