Me and my brother went to Kadala with 500 shards a piece I walk away with a bunch of blues and a crusader legendary for my wd, my brother gets 9 legendaries and some rares my faith in rngesus isn't high enough
I use RUclips as sort of a podcast for Jeannie while I'm driving to work so I appreciate not only do you show videos but you also give detailed instruction and explain things which I find very viable. You definitely earned a thumbs up from me good video
i recently got into Diablo 3, having owned the game since beta, and when i noticed that i need to downgrade gear to get magic find, vs going to a higher torment level , it was an easy choice, but your video taught me much more and is very well edited and presented. Nice one.
Now some people who don't like games or math would find this guy nerdy and a looser right, but this guys is such a legend, his intelligence is amazing and his passion for the game goes beyond most players, respect to you bro, you're going places!
I loved this video. I did not realize all of this I am glad you explained how items droped before just saying "you get items faster this way" like some people do
Thanks man! The video was very helpful and I appreciate your taking the time to educate us about the drop system. The RNG system in D3 has come under scrutiny lately and I believe thoughtful exploration and consideration like you present in your guide is much better for the Diablo community than just bitching about it! :)
Wasn't long winded mate, it was informative and enjoyable also much needed for some people within the Diablo III community as I have had many people ask me in game about how I got certain set pieces or accessories etc. Thanks for taking the time to make the video, cheers.
Rift It Forward died after patch 2.1 dude, not before. That was when they implemented that you only need 1 rift frag to open a rift but everyone has to pay. I would remember because I started playing RoS back then when RiF actually died out. There was no point or need... especially since everyone was doing Greater Rifts anyways.
Dude, this was extremely helpful. I'll watch pretty much anything D3 oriented that you post if it's this informative! Thanks a ton, we need more content that's more mature and data oriented.
As a new player approccing the end game contents of this game i've really apprecciated all the maths i've found in this video. It saved me from digging all this information from the web. I'd like just to add one more thing to the math you explained. Basically this video, that should make us save farming time, is 1130 seconds long. According to that we should play at least 1130 rifts, or farm at least 1130 legendaries to be sure that the watching time we have spent is been amortised and it's less than a second per legendary item that we spent watching it. Worth to point out in my opinion, a time saving video shouldn't been so long else the efficiency goes drammatically down. In this case 1130 legendaries with the best drop time of 24min each means almmost 19 days of continous play to have this video worth the math it contains. By the way to be rude is not my intention, it's just funny how a video made to save time need almost 19 days of continous play to be worth it. My two cents.
sweet bro, I was an avid d2 player, and am still kinda new to d3. But man... there is so many varied, confusing, and taxing ways to get gear on this game. Its nice to know I have a video to reference the fundamentals of how it works. Leave it to blizzard to milk you for time to max a character proper lol, even on a free to play game. Great job.
Great video. I knew all of this already but was interested in how you would communicate this as it linked from another video. Very fluent and easy to understand. Good job.
Man really great video - seriously - well done. It's like a DVD that came with the game or something - very much to the point and informative. Excellent.
As I was playing D3, @ 13:13, you quoted the templar. Literally half of a second my templar said the exact same thing! i think this is a sign... Here is a sub and a lyk! (Not even sure if this is how the MF system works anymore, may have been revamped again but I don't care)
although it was mentioned that there is only a 10-30% increase in Legendary MF with 300% MF. however it was not specified WHEN in the math this is factored. if this is a 30% increase to the base MF then you are looking at stacking the larger values(100% for rift, 100+% for torment levels.) those larger multipliers start to increase more as they end up some total 360%-400% increase. therefore if the BASE value takes the MF scaling FIRST we will se very large benefits from multiplying the MF from parties and gear and then that RESULT by 300+%. please correct me if I am wrong and it was specified that this gain was factored in last.
This video sums up why I question anyone with a topaz in the helm since the nerf. It would be alright if they gave us mode to play vanilla when we get bored. It was bad, but at the same time is what got me hooked.
This is a really great video but with Greater Rifts in Patch 2.1, legendary will be dropping left and right. You're pretty much guaranteed at least 2-3 legendary per tier rift and it takes 5-10m to finish one depending on how fast you kill. Although they may change it before it goes live.
When you touched on efficiency's at the end. I don't think it's a matter of killing 14% faster or slower, I think people should not over kill in a one shot and not have to hit more then 2 hit per target. I think that's the sweet spot for legendary efficiency. The faster you kill things the more opportunities you have at those dropping legendary s. So if you have to spend 10 seconds killing a group mob no amount of MF can make up for the fact that if your one to two shoting, your going threw so many more mobs that even with a lower MF your drops will improve just from the massive amount of mobs killed and the larger number of rolls you create killing mobs faster.
At what level would you recommend a character to be before starting a game on Torment 1? Also, is the advice and information in this video valid for XBox 360? If not, do you know where I could find out?
+DatShadyGuy After playing for only a little bit this last week I would definitely say 70 lol, it's a huge difficulty increase from Master. You could maybe do it if you had some god like items at 60 but there's honestly no point. You do the difficulty increase for better items and not so much the increased Exp at this level and getting legendaries 10 levels from 70 is kind of pointless.
Same basic rules for item generation, no matter the platform. Level has nothing to do with being prepared for Torment - gear does. You want set items and the best bonuses you can get from them before you try higher Torment.
Thank you so much for posting this video I learned alot more than what I had already knew you were very informative about the topic on hand and the way that you portrayed the topic made it easy for me to understand
I also feel like gear synergy plays a roll. The more out of sync your gear is, the higher the drop rates. I think this plays into the "Pity Loot" system.
Excellent video, really helped me understand what I need to do to start farming some better drops to get my wiz into T4 and beyond. Thanks for the info!
THANKS:-] what percent is good in magic for a beginner character without any yellow or brown stuff. regular stuff nothing legendary ..... you did a nice video, thanks for sharing .. deeman
Good video and information...not sure if this question is relevant but hopefully someone knows the answer. I've noticed almost all videos relate and are always showing solo running, here's my question: With all the magic information provided, when you run with a group, does the person doing the most damage and killing the boss the main person or most likely person to get a drop? The reason I ask, I've noticed in running in a group of 3, the weakest person in the group (doing least damage or kills) get far less drops...I've seen this on a number of different occasions but didn't really seem to put it together until recently. I thought that all people in the group would get shared out equally just based on the games drop rate. Is this one person truly just on a bad run or is the person that's being carried the most being calculated as such?
Good video and good theorycrafting but really what do we do with this information? Basically the faster you can do harder rifts, the bigger chance it is for legendary to drop.
Thankyou for telling me this, with your tips I put warzeckian armguards on and a ruby in leorics crown and a couple of sage's pieces for DB's and ran TX's and GR"s in fast forward (so to speak) a few below what I could handle since I'm not as defensive and also the gogok to keep up my EB wizard. I felt like I was finding more leg's which included an ancient litany ring ( that I had been looking for a week) all within 10 mins. Awesome stuff mate.
I should've made myself clearer, what I meant was if I'm running TX's and GR's at high speed but not optimized to push then I may as well try and level up quicker especially when you consider normal rifts give massacre bonus' and GR's are multiplicative with + xp item. A kill two birds with one stone thing I guess you could say, after all I play solo and need every chance I can get although I'm putting together a Monk zdps +xp build to try and join a team to progress further up the paragons.
I do appreciate this information though, I think maybe it's a how the scripts roll the dice between individual players. I've found Maximus in T4, best weapon I've had for my Wizard.
I also like to think the RNG rate recognizes your weaknesses and drops say a legendary when you need it, and it also recognizes your length of time while playing the game, i haven't played in a while logged on yesterday in months and i had 7 legendaries in 5 minutes, go back months ago and i haven't heard of a legendary in diablo 3 before lol, you reap what you sow i guess.
I'm still amazed at how people can complain about legendaries drops in D3 : it's not THAT bad, really ! Try Borderlands 2, you'll see what a crappy loot system is XD Anyway greeeeeeat video here, learned A LOT of stuff :D
This really depends on the class you are playing, the spec you are using, and the gear you currently have. I can say if you are a EQ barb. The gear slots conflict a lot, and you would be forced into using a royal ring of grandeur. Not always an ideal situation to be in.
CORExpertGaming I play a monk. Sometimes I use my Cain set on easy torments but for higher torments I'm still missing some key pieces where I need my preferred resistance.
yabyab yab Once you start getting into late game, anything that isn't orange or green is only worth salvaging, and most people grinding legendaries already have way more than enough mats.
this video really helped but i realized that if the drop is the same for all legendarys below torment 1-6 difficulty then you could just rapidly farm normal difficulty rifts or greater rifts. This is what I've been doing, it takes 10-15 minutes max, and i have received about 1-2 legendaries per run so far.
i've yet to play this one. you've brought some great understanding to a dynamic of the game that will be very useful. i'm really looking forward to giving this game a try now. :)
hey man cool vid! i play diablo 3 i'm now on nightmare master 3 but i've never seen a rift. on the wiki it says that you can enter a nephalem rift by gathering rift keystone fragments and that you then have to kill 999 enemies before a rift guardian (boss) appears, but all i've got until now are regular dungeons, cellars, caves... are there different versions of diablo 3? please explain if you got the time ;) PEACE
Hey, sorry I got to this late. Yes, their is an expansion out for D3 "Reaper of Souls". It will be also coming to consoles August 19. Though I prefer the PC version myself.
I played for around 2 hours last night in Tormert 6. I only got 2 legendaries but before ending the game I went to Kadala. I got 4 Legendaries (not what i was looking for though) , Akkhan Headgear and a Rolland Armor!
Thanks for the explanation. I reached paragon 62 yet I still feel like a complete noob. I just run arround and kill stuff without really knowing how any of it works. I have one question.. Is the quality of legendary items affected by difficulty you chose? I don't think I heard you a dress that in this video.
Isn't MF also split down to the average amount the each party member has, or was that removed with RoS? If it is still present, I believe that really should have been mentioned here in the video (unless I missed that disclaimer). Which drastically hampers your ability to pug random 4 player runs as more often than not, they won't be stacking it.
I found this video very helpful, though I still don't completely understand how the MF from gear relates to MF from higher torment. Ex: Assuming you had the exact same speed for clearing rifts.. is Torment 4 with 10% MF better than Torment 3 with 100% MF? (Right now with the 100% extra Legendary community buff)
CORExpertGaming so even with i think its Leoric's crown that adds 76%? to any gem that socketed in the helmet, a topaz would not be worth it to add into the helm?
How about horadric caches? Let's say I put on some equip with MF before getting a horadric cache from Tyrael. Does it have any effect on the drop chance of legendaries?
all this science when we all know that RNG gods choose weather or not we get a legendary.
May RNGsus save us all!

Not anymore. I just managed to reach level 70 with all the characters and took over 950 paragon level , so i get tired.

Very informative. Keep up the good work man. I'm sure many will benefit from this.
It's the ninja himself :)
Thanks and hope you come back for 2.1
CORExpertGaming Great job man, you cleared up my MF question really well. Time to swap my topaz for something else! :)

im actually very glad you went over that at 10:57. what a great way to think.

This video cleared up a LOT. Thank you so much! I was holding onto a nagelring unsure about how good it could be if i kept it for magic find later on.
So in essence, if I'm playing normal-master and wanna find legendaries then soloing rifts would be my best bet?
Julian Caldwell Using the community Rift it Forward will be faster for you.
This comment was made way before that patch. Check the dates.

I never knew Magic Find was really that useful.
I watched the whole Video and all, It helped me a lot.
Thank you for all the Valuable Information.
It was awesome in D2, if you didnt mod that is.
Finally this has been said with more description.
So basically on ps3, Inferno Master V is where you will be banking Legendarys. Im farming for the Mempo of Twilight for my Demon Hunter.
+True Black Metal No, you're farming for your unhallowed set. :)
This was a really well put together video. I had a ton of questions and this perfectly answered and even elaborated on all of them. Consider me a fan.

i think another good tip would be to complete the campaign after reaching level 70, since first time kills guarantee legendary.
That's been my thought process.

it's also worth noting, the rarity of the dropped item is often calculated based on the creature type.

do the plans to forge items also follow under this as well or is there a way that we could increase the chances of finding plans?

Just curious, do unique items count as legendaries towards getting the trophy having all legendaries above level 70?
for magic find, does that mean its best to get rid of the helm socket gem I got for magic find? it's actually hindering my legend find rate?
wait, around 14:50 he was dueling? pvp
Is this info still relevant today with patch 2.4.1?
It seems so. Magic find is broken and pointless.
I'm on t three atm and I get three to five every hour in greater rifts sometimes sooner then that, with a green every two to three rifts.

What is the barb build where he leaps and then fire? WHat causes the fire?
Do you guys have a community/clan? I've been looking for better players to play with so I could also upgrade my gear and characters.
Thx very useful.did you smoke when you spoke about the magic find shrine bonus. lol
i run on 10 - 12 torment depending on time and still am finding it hard to find the gold bordered set items
Is the info still up to date?
Thanks for the vid!
not really, during season 4, I had 107 legendaries and 54 set items drop in 10 to 12 hour span,on my Demon Hunter, Torment 4
One Word: Perfect!
Thanks a lot
Isn't MF also split down to the average amount the each party member has, or was that removed with RoS? If it is still present, I believe that really should have been mentioned here in the video (unless I missed that disclaimer). Which drastically hampers your ability to pug random 4 player runs as more often than not, they won't be stacking it.
That system is no longer in place.
You must have been playing D3 for awhile to know about MF being split between party member.
I assume the stats of the legendaries dont depend on the Torment Level, correct?
how did you get so low cooldowns on leap and earthquake(im new on d3 btw)
I was using Might of the Earth W/ Lut Socks. Look up "Leapquake" guides for a full rundown
do the between levels mean anything? like in the greater rifts
How do you make it so that the drops stand out like they do on your game?
Thanks for the vid my dude. Helpful.
I feel like this is the same thing that happened in D2; after a certain point MF decreased your chance to find better gear.
I really enjoyed the type of the video, good job! :)
For your example, T4 will be better
i did not understand what you said about magic find and how it works, can you simplify it?
MF = not worth
every 10% of MF = 1% more legendaries
CORExpertGaming so even with i think its Leoric's crown that adds 76%? to any gem that socketed in the helmet, a topaz would not be worth it to add into the helm?
Lee R You'd be better off getting Life from a Amethyst or Cooldowns from a Diamond
figures, but now what am i going to do with all the Topaz i have? oh well
Wait until you have a Wizard or Witch doctor to socket them into hahah. You'll need the INT somewhere
How about horadric caches? Let's say I put on some equip with MF before getting a horadric cache from Tyrael. Does it have any effect on the drop chance of legendaries?
BigBenH18 MF does not effect horadric caches
I didn't realise that if less than torment 1 you should just play on Normal. Thanks!
Torment bonus is 1.15 to the power of TormentLevel.
Why go with the convoluted explanation of making it a recursive function.
Isnt it a certain boss that drop set items? And is this the same for ps4
I found 2 Cains set plans in one run, and a bunch of other legendary crafting plans. Do these count as part of the legendary drop?
Nope, those will not reset the pity legendary.
