Why is a 15-year old considered to be unemployed? Shouldn't they be in school?

It is interesting that 15- to 18-year-olds are counted in the unemployed population.

Compulsory education goes up to Gr 9, at which stage learners can choose to exit formal schooling and go to a TVET College, others just drop out due to a range of different reasons but I understand your point, we don't really expect the 15 - 18 year olds to be on the job market, nor should we encourage it but technically, they can.

What about 35 to 50 years or it showed that we are no longer consider as people in South Africa. The question is that does the government know that we don't even have parents in our homes or support from enyone. What am I voting for cos it's all about the youth. The very same government said that we must go back to school and I did when to college. 2014 I started my course for fitter and turn and was 34 years. It was 3 years course level 2 to 4. When I am done 2016 and apply for apprentice, they said that am over 35 years. With my level 4 Certificate as Engineering Relented Design. The education minister said that we don't have engineering student's. As a woman I am so disappointed and frustrated. Today am 43 years.

Don't give up on your dreams. Perhaps getting into senior leadership roles. There's no data for unemployment for adults above 35 years

So we need skills to develop technology so that it can eventually replace us to do the job.

Education, education, education, at a decent standard.
Miss that early on, and it becomes difficult later in life to catch up.
