    I was excited to see how accessible the room was based on how accessible thi gs have been for you around Japan. Sorry things got "higgledy-piggledy" for you! On another note, I now have another phrase of yours that I'm using. Higgledy-piggledy is now in my lexicon with slinky-malinky! ❤ Enjoy your travels, and thanks for taking us with you! 😊

      Yeah i feel like it's more common around the world to take your shoes off in a house rather than leave them on

    Japanese houses are not made ‘accessible’ but it’s just how.. Japanese houses are! In Asian countries, removing the shows before one enter is a unspoken rule to keep the owner’s house clean. Japan is prone to earthquakes so the traditionally windows and doors are made from paper hence the sliding doors.

    Do blind people in japan have indoor/outdoor cane tips? Cos the reason they take their shoes off is because they've been touching the ground so they're dirty, but the cane tip is also touching the ground constantly, how does that work?

      @i.robles5785 11 месяцев назад +2

      Well blind people don't generally use canes in their house because they know exactly where everything is. I suppose it must be the same for the Japanese.

      @@i.robles5785 yes, but there are certain businesses where shoes aren't allowed inside, and temples, and then there's other people's houses, schools too, the kids bring indoor and outdoor shoes

      That's a really interesting question! Hope someone has the answer and if they don't use a different tip what is the thought process behind it?

      With shoes you've got large surface area and you're grinding that dirt into the floor with your entire bodyweight (especially bad thing to do with the tatami mats). A cane tip is tiny, so not a lot of surface area to bring in dirt with and you're only lightly brushing things with it.

    At least where I live in Canada we always take our shoes off when we enter someone’s home. Also take them off in hotel rooms as well.

    I hope you know that bathtubs in Japan are not for washing yourself up in. It’s intended for soaking. You clean yourself outside the bath tub.

    In Canada you take off your shoes everywhere too. No wearing them in houses or certain public spaces.
